"They're working as a team for the first time, really, that we've seen in these films."
Dark Phoenix Writer/ Director/Producer Simon Kinberg
I guess two decades into the series is better than never.
While not perfect casting, I actually liked Halle and think she gets a really bad rap. She did fine with what she was given.
It’s not her fault she wasn’t given a larger role.
A bit of behind the scenes footage from ET.
That's not entirely true either. There was First Class... Which is the only team film not written by him and/or directed by Bryan Singer. It also was mostly C-listers, but they felt like the X-Men. I suppose the future scenes in DOFP kind of count, but Apocalypse really dropped the ball in this regard save strangely when the kids bust Wolverine out, then back to normal.
They weren't even X-men. Moira came up with that name in the waning seconds of that movie, no matter how Mystique tried to retcon that to say she and her cohorts came up with the name at the CIA building. That's not entirely true either. They worked together as a team by the end of the first X-Men. Which is part of the point of the movie. I got that same feeling in the end fight of Apocalypse as well, but that's just me. I'm fully aware that I'm alone in that department. That's not entirely true either. There was First Class... Which is the only team film not written by him and/or directed by Bryan Singer. Well I mean Fury's been talking about the Avenger Initiative since at least Iron Man. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Oy, semantics. Whatever, I agree they mostly squandered that potential, but I don't think anyone watching it didn't consider them X-Men. That's like saying the Avengers aren't Avengers in the first movie, because they don't come up with the name until the end.
Agree to disagree. I thought Halle did fine in those 2 X-men films, especially X2. I’ll give you the accent though, and I’m glad it was dropped.Meh, this is revisionist history. You can blame the filmmakers for miscasting Storm in the first place, but Halle was always a lousy Storm. First a bad accent and then no accent in the sequels and she phoned it in with all the sequels. You can tell when she's trying (Monster's Ball for instance) and when she's not (X2, X3, the Bond movie she did, etc.)
I know it's fashionable around here to bash the new kids all the time, but Alexandria while given nothing to do in Apocalypse actually was more convincing as a teenage version of Storm than Halle ever was. It's a shame she'll again apparently be furniture in this.
You can disagree with posts without calling them moronic. You would think someone who's been here for 6 years would know that by now.Comparing Shipp to Lawrence is moronic.
How did Singer and Kinberg listening to JLaw churn out? We got compromised storylines where Mystique--in the safety of the X-mansion--is walking around as a blonde white girl, where we got Mystique in a laughably bad blue face shiny make-up and a matted body suit.I'm not much of a fan of JLaw-Mystique either, and her comments about wanting to be in Guardians instead were likewise ultra stupid and classless.
Thing is, Lawrence was still headlining the biggest doofusy-but-monster-money tween franchise out there at the time. Lawrence could throw some weight around even a few years back, people knew who she was. Shipp? The general audience watching these things don't know who the hell Shipp is, first time they saw her face was Apocalypse. Getting all demanding at that point in your career is pretty lame. Just go do some smaller indie stuff to get your "artist" fix while getting your money & adding-to-your-profile stuff from X-Men.
So it's not a representation thing but a star wattage thing? Got it!Turning it into a representation thing is stupid. Cyclops has got the shaft since the start, last time I checked...that's a white dude. And Marsden while not much of a "name" circa 2000 either had probbably been in far more stuff than she has so far.
Is there a valid source for that? all i can find is Serje boasting about knowing stuff before anyone else all over twitter.
It makes sense i suppose that if you could put it with any movie. why not endgame?
Well serje claims there are 2 trailers, one has a tribute to the other x-men movies at the beginning and the other one doesn't. they haven't decided which one they are going for yet (apparently)
The previous films tribute one does sound abit like that endgame trailer where they had clips of previous movies.
if it's true
I think the final trailer displayed that will be aired before avengers, should the normal version (showing more of the movie)
and on the opening day of the pre sale of the tickets he should release the one that appears the tribute to the old cast to show the public that this is an end
That would be something smart.
