Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

Please stop bringing up Endgame!

If I want to talk about Endgame I would go to their forum. This isn't even the Dark Phoenix Spoiler thread. LOL

I like the new trailer a lot. I wish it was the first trailer and it's definetly the best of them all but overall, I still don't feel that hyped and it sucks not feeling hyped for an X-Men movie!

It just feels like a little too late or something. It's the finale of the fox era and it feels meh.

EXACTLY. Some people are trying to avoid spoilers and aren't expecting them in a Dark Phoenix SPECULATION thread. You havn't said anything but your complains imply!

Sorry I apologise!! I didnt mean too!!! I just mean I’m looking forward to both films. Again sorry if I’ve spoiled something for you, wasn’t my intention.

You said he was "losing a job". I was questioning what job you think he's losing.
As the X-men's overseer. A job he's sucked at more than as the X-men's writer. And that's saying a lot. He will no longer be the X-men's overseer now that Feige has them.

As the director of any future X-men movies. Feige has never rehired directors from previous attempts. I'm not a "time traveler" but I am 100% positive he will never direct another X-men movie, regardless of how Dark Phoenix does.

As the writer of any future X-men movies (or any Marvel movies for that matter). Anyone who tells you he's a good X-men writer hasn't been paying attention to anything from Kinberg's career since 2006. To think that Feige would think any differently and that he would rehire him in the same position is to live in an alternate universe.

"overseer". Sure. If that's what you want to call it. All I see are: screenwriter, film producer, television producer, and now film director. I don't think Kinberg had his eyes set on directing only x-men movies either, obviously. It is saying a lot when he's named as one of the highest paid screenwriters and producers in Hollywood (just last year he was named Hollywood's top genre producers). He's done a lot of networking. Strategically moving his chest pieces. Seems like he'll be fine.

He and his cast seem to think he's their overseer. You should watch interviews with them talking about it to "edumacate" yourself.

Oh how I wish he kept to that.

Good he should stick to those things he's good at.

wow. People think a lot of things, don't they?

Well...too bad for you, huh?

People like to branch out. Try new things. Have new experiences. That's what life's about. We'll see how good he is when the film releases. Directors also get better by learning on each film (Theoretically. Singer didn't seem to learn with Apocyaplse). So, we shall see what the outcome is.

Ditto. I'm not excited. It's a shame that I'm not but there's no reason for me to be excited. I'm just hoping it doesn't suck for the X-Men brand sake

Yes a lot industry people (people that know a lot more than YOU) "think" Simon Kinberg is this franchise's "overseer" including:

The Hollywood Reporter:
Sources say the flagship series will be reconfigured, with Simon Kinberg, overseer of the franchise as producer and writer, working on a new script.
Yahoo:
Simon Kinberg, overseer of all 20th Century Fox’s comic book properties, has said he has a “clear sense of the directions” he wants to take each of his properties and how a cross-over could potentially occur.
Deadline here:
Free Association’s Tatum and Reid Carolin are producing the film with X-Men overseers Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg. Josh Zetumer wrote the script. Lizzy Caplan was in talks to co-star.
and here:
‘Logan’ & ‘X-Men’ Architect Simon Kinberg On Expanding The Series & The Risks & Rewards Of R-Rated Superhero Movies: Q&A
SuperHeroHype:
Last year current franchise overseer Simon Kinberg told IGN that they are envisioning Gambit as a “romantic comedy.”
Empire Magazine:
With Reynolds, regular X-producer Simon Kinberg and fellow franchise overseer Laura [sic] Shuler Donner involved...
Collider:
Speaking at a Q&A following Collider’s exclusive IMAX preview screening of Deadpool, producer Simon Kinberg—who is essentially the overseer of Fox’s superhero universe—was asked whether there were any other specific properties he could envision being R-rated
CinemaBlend:
CinemaBlend Events Editor Eric Eisenberg recently spoke with X-Men overseers Simon Kinberg and Hutch Parker about James Mangold's Logan, and the state of multiple X-Men movies.
Screenrant:
Speaking with Collider, X-Men franchise producer Simon Kinberg - current overseer of Fox's own Marvel universe

In the UK.

They showed the first trailer with endgame.

Which was strange because with Cap Marvel they showed the second international version.

That being said, it was a condensed version of the first trailer aswell and a midnight showing. So I think they were trying to reduced the preview times.

Took myself to see Endgame last night - last minute decision to catch the special screenings at my local Odeon.

The DP trailer was one of just a few screened ahead of the film. It was the final trailer with Magneto having his helmet dismantled before he’s hurled through a window. In all honesty, people did stop chattering and watched the trailer but there was zero reaction to it. It was kinda meh and low impact, featuring a load of characters the audience hasn’t grown to care about. It woefully lacks scale and spectacle, even with the space shuttle rescue (which seemed kinda ‘small’) and even compared to the Fast & Furious trailer that came after it.

Endgame was fantastic. Can’t wait for a totally rebooted and re-envisioned X-Men to be in the MCU.

I just came back from my screening, and yep as expected they played the Dark Phoenix International trailer. But like @Ordet they screened that one and the new what I’m calling “farewell trailer”.

With footage from all X films sans X3, if I remember correctly lol. I loved the new trailer, if only because it was good to see the Original cast back on the big screen one last time. Could have had better moments in it, but I still appreciated what was shown. Some new shots from Dph l, too quick to make make out what was happening. I loved the opening line/text “ 20 years ago”. Disney/Fox is really pushing to turn a profit from this, they obviously know it’s the international market where this is making most of its box office from. Smart move. In my theater I saw a lot of reaction to the “farewell” one.

Thats weird, lotta different trailers being played. Im in UK and they played the 2nd international trailer. The music really amps up the action in it on the loudspeakers.

Aside from trying to be truer to the comics, it’s evident why they went so red with Mystique’s wig; to differentiate it from Jean’s natural red.

I don't know.

Even with her previous colouring it was still quite an orangey red when compared to Jean hair in Apocalypse (which was a much more vibrant ginger than her hair here).

If anything (outside comic accuracy) I think it probably a reaction to Apoclpsye being criticised for being quite dull in the colouring.
Most of the "vibrant colours" (the yellow X, Mystqiues hair, blue characters, buildings in genosha, etc) do seem to pop in this film were in everything in apocalypse seemed to blend in with the more natural colours.

Just imagining how more visually awesome that pic would be if she had her classic white costume on teased at end of Apocalypse

I know I’m in the vast minority, but I didn’t like the suits in the final scene of Apocalypse. I loved the concept, but the execution just resulted in something that felt so blah. I think it was the bulky, plastic parts on the gloves, the shoulder pads, etc. Plus it didn’t fit in with the overall aesthetic of the series. My favorite suits were the ones in FC that were very uniform, but also customized. After that, I really liked the dystopian suits of DoFP; they were individualized, but felt like they really worked within the context of the film. I don’t know, I’m weird, I guess.
