Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

Its just so sad that Dark PhoeniX will give such a sour end to this franchise. Its ending like the first two eras of Sony's Spider-Man and Fox's Fantastic Four. In a very bad note!
An abrupt end. And the worst thing about it? Nobody cares. Thats why it's tracking to underperform. People have bad X-Men movie fatigue and it's not good for the brand. :(

I wish they continued with the OT cast after DOFP. I mean, that's what I thought they were going to do with the way DOFP ended. The finale to the Fox-Men franchise should be wayyy bigger than this.

I just. I-I can't

Thats what I've been saying all these years. Such a shame for this series, to last 20 years to end with such a dud and underperforming film. It really feels like foX just gave when they hired Kinberg to direct a X-Men film.

Looking back, a decade ago, before MCU started. X-Men, Spider-Man and Fantastic Four were the trinity of Marvel movies because there were the ones that were the most successful and popular. I never thought the X-Men (well back in 2014 to 2016), the X-Men franchise would end in a such bad note like Spider-Man and Fantastic Four before they head to the MCU.

I'm surprised by how much negativity this new clip is producing here. It went down pretty well on Twitter, and people liked it while they showed it at different cons. We've known about the "X-Women" line since last year.

Its one of those type of lines you either love or hate. its sounds like a kind of gender equality line.

Reminds me of the recent Men in black trailer. the whole ohh she brought up that they are called "Men" in black and that seems to be a joke in the film, that yno they ain't all "Men", and Women are just as strong as "Men", so why call it "Men"?. you trying to say "Men" are better? you trying to say they need to be "men"?

Moments like that will either please you that its acknowledged or they won't. But then thats how the world is now.

It's interesting because i like that Men In Black line, but i hate this one. It's meant to be funny but feels more equal than this line.

Even with the last movie not being very good it's tracking to underperform a lot because the marketing push is not what it otherwise would've been coupled with the fact that Fox had to change things around potentially for the worse in post-production yet again (just couldn't contain the leak on ending being changed could they?).

That's besides the fact the last film faltered and things are growing stale with the brand. 2 First Class sequels weren't deemed as financially feasible so they tried to rework things with Singer coming back but of course that didn't pan out quite the way Fox perhaps expected. That being said, there's no doubt in my mind the Dark Phoenix film was sabotaged whether more so by Fox trying play ball with Marvel Studio's or whatever happened after the acquisition it wasn't for the best at least pertaining to this film specifically.

Siento que, hasta ahora, estoy Avengers > Phoenix > Captain Marvel Pero encuentro que las 3 están muy bien.

I already hate this. Xavier is being gradually destroyed by each successive prequel. He's always falling short, and every new dilemma makes him look more incompetent. It wasn't an issue for me until Apocalypse. That film had him chastised by Raven for being naive and unprepared for conflict, something I didn't buy after his experiences in First Class and DOFP. It felt manufactured to give Charles something to learn and Raven some wisdom to impart.

But this scene? Oh boy. They've just switched places, and now Charles is so invested in heroism that he's putting his kids at risk? I'm not sure it would grate on me so much if it wasn't framed as though Charles is being a petulant prick. I haven't seen him written so unpleasently since The Last Stand.
Yea pretty much what I've been saying. Xavier can't seem to learn the right lessons. He's always on the extreme ends. DOFP taught him to have hope. What does he do after the 10 years between films? He's got his rose-coloured glasses on, thinking the world has accepted his kind. He doesn't even seek out "Scott, 'Storm,' and Jean" like the man from the future told him to do. Of course Mystique knows better, she always seems to. See: Dark Phoenix.
Wasn't Mystique the one saying "You're not kids anymore, you're X-Men" ten years ago in this story? Now they're freakin' kids again to you?
Haha That's so true. Again, Kinberg needs a marathon-watch of all of his movies before he puts pen to paper. He needs a reminder what he's written before.

Still, this clip doesn't seem particularly chopped. I'm not bothered by the pacing, unlike all the other clips, except for the helicopter one.

this clip was shown during the SDCC here in Brazil and was strongly applauded.
most people liked this, do not be surprised by some things around here..

I wish they had fully rebooted the franchise with First Class. Having Scott, Jean and Ororo as leads. Then adding more iconic members like Rogue, Colossus, Gambit, Nightcrawler, etc...
They seem hellbent on not having Scott, Storm and Jean as the first students because they would've been too young then. However, Moira 2.0? Yes Please! Beast inventing Cerebro? Yessir! Mystique as Xavier's sister??? OMG YAAAAS!

Never mind the fact that Vaughn included Scott and Storm cameos (who were probably a few years younger than Havok and Banshee) during the Cerebro montage...

Yup. And the X-Men franchise started the golden age of CBMS. Even Feige pays his respect to the franchise for that accomplishment. It's sad that this franchise is about to go out, not with a bang but a barely intelligible whimper that nobody will hear.

And the negativity surrounding this project is Kinberg's fault. He should have never decided to adapt Dark Phoenix again with this cast of X-Men right after Apocalypse

That wasn't gonna happen and would have been a bad move since the Ot cast/characters still had potential to evolve for future films and for others, to redeem themselves. That would have been like Sony rebooting Spider-Man after just 3 films, with the Amazing Spider-Man movies, too early and didn't resonate as well compare to the original films. First Class underperformed at the box office and a sequel to it without the ot cast wouldn't have the same hype compare to what we got in 2014. Also, given that the buzz of Dofp mostly came from the ot cast returning, a movie featuring the ot cast should have been made especially after Dofp. The audience didn't want a reboot or a replacement cast.

That would have been preferable. But I guess Fox wanted to have their cake and eat it too hence why we got such an odd mishmash of characters in FC (to save not using anybody in the OT) And unfortunately, First Class didn't make a huge splash at the box-office. The X-Franchise was still dealing with the fallout of a disappointing conclusion to the OT and the disastrous result of Wolverine Origins.

People loved X-men: Origins Wolverine trailer at SDCC in the summer of 2008 too. Fans loving a clip that no one else has seen is not unique.
