Its a gritty drama film! you can't be too flashy and you can't have beautiful attractive set piece that will ruin the somber atmospheric despressing feel of this film.

yes, they should just go back to X1 look, small sets, indoors and just aliens looking like Senator Kelly, but talking like aliens in the last 5 minutes of the movie, to dont break that atmosphere.

Magneto's Brotherhood hq actually looks good especially at the time while the design of the subbasement/Cerebro survived the test of time, and they were so underbudgeted by Fox back then and even cut Beast and the Juggernaut in the process.

Dark PhoeniX wishes it has a good production design as X1.

I understand why simon made a more "real" genosha
it would be nice to logically see a genosha as it is shown in the comics, but in a film that goes on in the 80s / 90s, in which genosha is still in "construction" I see no reason for criticism.
I have a different view of things, I like it when the directors take something from the comics but they do it differently.

It's what directors do and will continue to do.

I assume genosha is gonna be more about the premise then the cool factor.

As for the idea that it's on the cheap. Am almost certain they had the budget to pull of a bigger genosha, and am also certain that you could have even pulled off a bigger genosha on the cheap if you just used CGI for location, green screen and smaller sets and locations to create the effect of something far bigger.

The colour grading and generic look of that train sequence looks very TV-ish. One thing im looking foward to about Dark Phoenix is the cinematography, which from the trailers looks very appropriate for the mood and tone of the film.

I thought I was crazy for thinking that scene, at least by itself, was not great. Not just the way it looks, but why is she recklessly blasting **** and putting people in danger? Why is she struggling so much here? Did she just get up from a nap? Lol I'm still greatly anticipating Captain Marvel but that clip was a letdown.

As far as Dark Phoenix, so far I love what I've seen of the cinematography. The scene of the X Men in the jet and it flying up into space is striking. A couple shots of Cyclops looked great and I can't wait for him to have his first badass moment since X1.

Injecting the cure would have been a more believable method of neutralizing her powers since it wasn't cosmic, it was only her mutation xD Don't tell me adamantium was the only thing that can pierce her skin

Not just the way it looks, but why is she recklessly blasting **** and putting people in danger?

Its funny, she decides to use her energy blast at the most reckless moment as the train is going into the tunnel, destroying a piece of the bridge as the rubble can put nearby citizens in danger. She had a clear shot with no obstruction about 20 seconds prior.

Jean allowed wolverine to kill her as she pleads him to "save me" just before he spikes her.

if they wanted to do a genosha equal to the comics or more futuristic this would be done, after all apparently this movie is not cheap and certainly existed to do this budget.
in my view, Simon wants to simply make a more "real" movie, he does not simply want a CGI-laden movie of heroes fighting against an evil being who wants to end the world, he wants to tell a story, show the drama, suffering, wear relationships and all this with action when necessary and well finished effects, I think that is the right way.

this view of him goes contrary to what was done in apocalypse, which notably there was a concern in creating a "visual spectacle" and forgot to work the rest.

Youll just have to screenshot the eXcellent scenery of Genosha in Dark PhoeniX's trailer from YouTube. And those costumes... its like they stepped out of this world.

Genosha looks like trash in this film.

The under construction excuse does not fly, it’s not being made by humans, Magneto can do it in seconds unless you choose to ignore the last two movies.

Yeah, I really am not getting the big deal with Genosha. It’s clearly made to be in its infancy and Magneto is just beginning to build it. Jean (I’m 16 and can barely control my powers) And Magneto rebuilding the school like it was nothing and they are master architects was the cringiest part of Apocalypse for me, I’m glad he’s not doing that again.
