    Happy Thanksgiving, Guest!

Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

I'm really glad we have confirmation that it's the last one.

Really glad New Mutants has been mentioned; I was worried this could be shelved.

Does this confirm a theatrical release because it's Cinemacon?

Also interesting they are stating Dark Pheonix is the finale to this x-universe, with New Mutants being released after...

Basically Disney overruled Kinberg and closed this franchise out for Feige. Let's hope they go out with a bang and bring in the era for the X-Men in a satisfying, successful way. I think we should all root for this movie to succeed.. Even if you don't care about the Fox-Men franchise, it doing good will only be beneficial for longterm brand viability

I think it's fitting that the first time we hear from Disney about Fox's Dark Phoenix is them saying: "This is a send off to this series."

Seems like they don't want to confuse audiences, and rightly so. But it won't be easy, there will inevitably still be people confused by it.

This is Disney's baby now, for better or worse. If this thing does poorly Feige will have a lot of clean up to do.

So New Mutants sequel confirmed.

I do find it interesting they have stated Dark Phoenix is the finale of this x-series, and not New Mutants.

Perhaps it's a simply because Dark Pheonix is clearly part of the franchise since X1, and NM is a new thing/ own thing (sort if like Deadpool)

Hopefully, it its recover well they retcon it into the MCU (post-mutants introduction) like Deadpool will be.
The cast is great and that way we could have three "mutant franchises" in the MCU straight of the bat : rebooted main series, Deadpool/X-force and New Mutants.

Pretty much. If it’s being shown to cinema folk, it probably means Disney has already reviewed it, and approved its release. They would have left it off the slate. I also don’t expect the reshoots, probably releases as is.

Nice to have confirmation of the closure. Bitter sweet moment but gives time to reflect on a roller coaster of 19 years :hrt: Also nice to see everyone is liking what they see!!

Hence why ot needs our support. For Feige's sake too

It won't do poorly. Disney is about to promo this as "The End of the X-Men" and pull at the nostalgia that will push people to see it. It will do well Internationally as well.

It will make it's budget back with some profits.

I'm happy
all this lack of information was exhausting, I think everything now calms down
the marketing will know what to do, this franchise despite the problems deserves to have its end where everything begins, that was in theaters.

I feel it will release as is. And apparently the test screenings were good and I what was shown in the leaked animatics from ages ago is representive of the final product that they aren't holding back.

That's no guarantee. You say that as if Disney has never had any bombs.

You can if you want. When I go watch it and it's subpar, I'll make my opinions heard. I'm not going to censor myself simply because I'm afraid of what it'll do to the brand.

Im really excited people are so positive about the footage they’ve seen from NY Comic-Con to wonderCon, and now this! :hrt: I’m rooting for this to be a solid final chapter. If nothing else, it deserves it.

Fair enough. I'll definitely follow suit in voicing what didn't work for me if it disappoints. A lot is riding on this movie

The theatre merch is already more than we’ve have for the other X-Men films!

Let’s hope we see some more.

Happy to hear the positive news as well! So far the reactions have been very positive which is good to hear. Also it’s excitung to see it up there on the release schedule. Even more exciting to see New Mutants which has been such a question mark.

The other X-men movies have had their versions of those theatre merch. You can google them.

Why are people making up stories to hype up this movie? There's those new positive tweets from CinemaCon for that.
With Disney promoting this could we possibly get some decent merch? At the very least a t-shirt?
Way too late for action figures and toys but I'm ready for X-men stuff to start showing up at Disney Stores, and just X-men stuff, in general, to start showing up in stores.

I now think we'll see the original cast at the end of the film to tie everything up.

Idk about that.

It's weird with all the talk of this being a "culmination". I feel like that can be said for the past 3 films in this universe. DOFP, Logan, and Apocalypse all felt like they could've been the last film in the series.

Yeah especially DOFP. It had most of the original cast also at the end. So I feel that ship had already sailed a while back.

Aside from post-credit scenes (clearly setting up sequels: Apoclypse in DoFP).
I've always felt like every main xmen film ends open ended; it could continue but could be left there and it would be fine.
Eg the end of Apocalypse we get the sense that the xmen have formed and will go out on missions.
