Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

X3 likely did nothing that wasn't already on the cards before writing the movie tbh.
You mean Kinberg and Penn and Fox were always planning on killing off Cyclops and Xavier and Psylocke and Kid Omega and Arclight and curing of Rogue?

To say nothing of the fact that's untrue when it came to James Marsden's character and that Rogue taking the cure was a last minute decision, Ken Leung wasn't always "Kid Omega" and Omahyra was cast to play StacyX, not Arclight. Perhaps give a thought to your posts before automatically turning on your "Defend Fox's franchise" mode.

I think it’s pointless now to constantly bring up X3. I mean that movie was what 13 years ago and it’s still such a sore subject I think it’s time to look more positive to the future of the X-Men now. We are finally going to get what we’ve all been demanding for 20 years. It’s an exciting time. Look we all know Fox have made some major mistakes. Let’s never forget about the really good movies we got too. DoFP, X2, First Class, Logan, Deadpool. Some of the greatest comic book movies we’ve ever seen. But I for one am looking for the Fox world to end and a new X-Men will rise under Marvel.

You can't say let's look to the future, think more positively and forget X3 when Fox hired X3's writer to direct this new movie. Like what?

In that case, it may be an unfortunate and confusing side-effect of Dark Phoenix still being released after the Disney takeover.

Because, clearly, there were no X-Men or Fantastic Four owned by Disney at the time Endgame was being written and filmed.

Or they are just causal viewers who probably seen little to none of the X-Men films and thus don’t know how different their universe is from the MCU. Which seems to be common among younger audiences.

NTW is not a main X-Men member, either in the books or on screen. She was added to Deadpool because she had a silly codename he could make fun of. It's an instance where the decision was successful because the casting, costume, totally redefined powers and general emo attitude worked.

Are you honestly trying to cling to NTW as an example of a strong female lead in the X-Men franchise, while Storm, Emma, Jubilee, Rogue, Kitty and Psylocke have mostly been totally screwed over? It's not a good example. Next you'll be pointing at Mystique as something to be admired.

First this was about the franchise lacking in female representation. When that is proven false the goal post moves to be exclusively about members on the X-Men. =/

I want the Visor. Where and how to i get it?
Visor looks cool but the text next to it translates to "Almost Cyclops." LMAO

I think Jean and Storm in the OT were surely a step forward in CBMs because they weren't damsels in distress, but they weren't ideal, Jean is relegated to being the object of dispute between Wolverine and Cyclops and the most she's given as far as development is to be scared of her powers, while Storm was portrayed as someone afraid/angry at humans. Rogue started off the best out of all of them in X1, but regressed as the movies went on when they relegated her to having boyfriend issues and even worse a love triangle to be angsty about.

And you also can't ignore the mostly mute Mystique walking around naked (which I'm not sure would be given a pass nowadays), and the totally mute Lady Deathstrike which did not honor her comic counterpart.

This is something that could've easily been fixed adding some lines here and there -- the scene where Storm comforts Senator Kelly before his imninent death is one example, there were also deleted Jean scenes in X1 that would've been good to keep.

The prequels made a bit more of an effort making Mystique a central figure despite still being in dispute between two men, however you also can't ignore Rose Byrne and January Jones walking around in underwear in First Class, Emma Frost was robbed of her conniving nature and was made just a subservient figure to Shaw, *that* scene were Moira is humilliated in front of her peers because she had her memory wiped and only remembers a kiss, I mean I understand it was the 60's but it's hardly the first time Matthew Vaughn caught heat for sexism. Kitty Pryde was robbed of her starring role in DOFP and turned into an exposition dumping character who's also a plot device, Storm barely had lines, Rogue was so inconsequential to the movie that she got cut, etc.

They also regressed to the asian mute mutant with Blink in DOFP and Psylocke in Apocalypse. Not to mention the forever relegated to cameo Jubilation Lee. At least Kinberg reduced the wallpaper mutants this time around instead of cluttering the movie, but even then Storm and Nightcrawler look like they are being wasted again. Can't wait for Dazzler in a cameo...

If you really want X-Men go down to disney-Endgame poor level, cause all you want is win a competition about box-office, then there is nothing to argue about.

I don't have a part of Disney's BO so what i care is movies.
Disney don't make movies.

So there is no comparison.

As for dark phoenix trailer playing before Endgame goes, I can say from my own social circle P.O.V that it has gathered interest amongst my friends and work colleagues whom most of them are casual movie goers. Also given the fact a few of them are big G.O.T fans. Hopefully all this exposure will give the movie a good boost on opening weekend.

I'm going to assume English isn't your first language.

Second thing, that is some laughably bad bias you got going on there. What the hell does "Disney don't make movies" even mean??

My friend (obviously a huge sample size) who didn't like the first teaser, said he really looking forward to seeing it after seeing the final trailer.

I feel the exposure with Endgame will only benefit the film. I do think critical reviews will be a major aspect in the success of this film.
I also feel it may inadvertently benefit with causal movie fans feel it in the MCU because of the Disney acquisition + it being the first superhero film.

I don't think the GoT fan base has every truly aided in the box office of films starring the cast. That being said, a lot of people seem to like Sansa and many (while not liking the characters/her story arc) have been praising her acting this season.

Disney is in a very awkward position of promoting/releasing a film when it intends a full-scale reboot of the franchise.

I'm guessing that's why the marketing has been a bit repetitive. Also, why spend more on something like this when its box office is uncertain (as it was prior to the takeover) and it's the end of a franchise? But they obviously need to release it to recoup money for those various production companies who have invested in it.

It feels more like Dead Duck than Dark Phoenix. I saw the trailer showing before Endgame and there was no audience reaction at all, I also felt Dark Phoenix looked kinda small, basic and lacking any wow factor.

I'm sure there will be an improvement
I'm also watching more people's interest in this movie, at least it's a movie more commented now than the weeks ago, viewing the trailer during EG was smart.
interesting that I saw in the twiter many people surprises to see the DP trailer, these people thought the movie had been canceled months ago, a lot of people really believed in rumors of bloggers spread on the internet.
the marketing is now something really appropriate that is an end, this will also help the film mainly in countries that usually give a good box office for farewell movies mainly China.

In my Endgame showing I can honestly say the Dark Phoenix trailer was the only trailer to shut everyone up. Lots of chatter in the first 3 trailers and as soon as the space sequences started it got quiet and til the end. Then slowly picked up again til the movie started. It definitely looked good on screen.

We'll see if this "Legacy" trailer is shown during tonite's IMAX Endgame. Anyone in North America seen it on theirs?

It was never shown on my Saturday IMAX Endgame screening (granted we were a bit late, though we did catch the DPh trailer but no "Legacy" trailer played before it. Coincidentally, the Godzilla trailer was played before DPh).

Whether they do their job or not, said job is still not yours. Just report the post. Christ.

But, yes, like the boss said, back on topic!

I went to see Endgame again on Saturday and after the trailer the guy next to me looked up Dark Phoenix on his phone.

I've looked at a bunch of Japenese websites to no avail. I'm not even sure if those are for sale.

You can easily get glasses that are like Cyclops visor. I found these on Amazon.

No idea if this is legit but a User in another forum listed the rating.

"Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action including some gunplay, disturbing images, and brief strong language."
