Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

Plus, they should be using the "See Sansa become Dark Phoenix" angle right now. Sophie Turner's profile is pretty high right now.

I just did some mental calculations
From all these tv spots and 699 Different ttailers they’ve literally given away 47 minuted of the movie. Im not even kidding.
I mean with a alleged run time of 1 hr 39 minutes, am i really going to the cinema just to watch 40 minutes of the film? Its ridiculous.

No wonder we dont even have a rating or confirmed runtime for the film be becsuse yeah its THAT BAD.

The amount of money being poured in the marketing right now is surprising.

Disney must be feeling confident about something. Either the quality of the film or their early estimates of the international market.
What? X-men marketing always kicks off into high gear the month before its release (and fans always have the same complaints like "Where's the trailer?" and "Why isn't Fox showing us anything right now?" months before that final month). There's nothing extraordinary about this marketing. Perhaps the hoopla is because we are seeing all these new footage and new pictures and new scenes all at once, after months of seeing the same footage? #XmenDay seems to have worked, if that's the case.

If there was ever a time to release all this stuff, it's now.

I mean I can also say Disney is making all this effort now because they know they have a very short window to make money from this movie, namely the film's first weekend. And the history of this franchise would say I am right.

All the marketing of Dark Phoenix as the end of the franchise, I wonder if New Mutants will be reworked into being their reintroduction.

I don’t know moan what a Marcus Theater even is but I kind of want that replica, and I don’t normally do merchandise and things like that.

Ugh, you can’t just add up the times of each trailer/spot/featurette/clip and say that time is equivalent to the amount of total footage shown from the film. Most of the content shown so far has been reused throughout the promotional material. I’d say we’ve seen between 5-10 minutes of the film, not including the full-length sequences privately shown to test audiences. That’s typical for any blockbuster film. Like, wow.

Oh really?? Wasnt typical for endgame and see how great business it did but u know what it was typical for the spiderman 2014 and we all know how that went down in history.

And why are u even here? Youve seen the movie and are clearly not enthusiastic about it since u obviously did not like it, yet u r here defending it. Why??

I have not seen the film and I’m clearly very enthusiastic about it.

I’m here because I’ve been an X-Men fan on this forum for over 15 years passionately discussing this film franchise and the source material it’s based on.

And, as a former moderator of this forum for several years, I’d suggest you stop trolling. You’re not good at it.

From all the new footage released today, the one constant in this franchise is their inability to do flying right. Between Magneto landing in Genosha, Magneto landing in front of a New York Great Tours bus, Jean flying away from Raven, what happened to Sophie's "We're no longer using wires for flying?" Did the parallelogram method she was talking about before not work out?

I might pick up the EW Ultimate Guide to X-men (depending on the price). I wish it had a better cover though...the irony is not lost on me that EW has had consistently bad X-men covers :oldrazz:

Outside the Magento NYC one (obvious wires ) I think the flying looks good.

Jeans taking off looked good to me; simile superman/Shazam flying . And Magneto on geonsha made it looks like he was using pushing himself off the earth magnetic field since he isn't wearing metal.

Storms flying looks fantastic in the train sequence in the shot were she hits the alien minion beast throws. She looks she is actually balancing on wind which allows her move her body make the poses and looks weightless.

I feel it will likely be worked into the MCU, like Deadpool.
As you mentioned it seems odd to market Dark Phoenix as the climax of the fox x-men movie franchise (which is including Logan and Deadpool) to then release New Mutants.

It seems odd to delay it another year (presumably for reshoots = more money put into it) if they only in tend for it to be a single film. Especially when it could just be released on streaming as is

Overall it seems a good candidate for insertion into the MCU:

- it's the beginning of a new franchise.
- presumably like Deadpool it wouldn't have major connections to the main fox series and they could be edited out (eg removing a James Macvoy cameo).
- a good cast of young actors; especially Maise Williams and Anya Taylor Joy.
- a new bunch of characters not explored yet on the big screen (outside sunspot in DoFP)
- the story seems relatively isolated and small so could be reworked in reshoots for MCU references.
- the trailer itself makes it seems like mutants are new phenomenon/they don't know they're mutants ("do know know where mutants are?")

Ultimately that would give the three "mutant franchises" for the MCU: Deadpool/x-force, New Mutants and a rebooted main team.

Storm in flight looks incredible, but I have to agree the takeoffs and landings are about the same as we’ve seen before in the franchise. I think the parallelogram thing Sophie was talking about pertains to in flight or floating as I remember he saying something like “I’m usually alone floating in a bald cap” during the first ever round of interviews. The picture she showed off was also from the scrapped act as it’s her was above a body of water, like in the leaked trailer that showed Scott above the same with his arms spread.

Cool. Nice to hear her thoughts  And holy ****, that woman is hot as ****!

And why are u even here?
He is here to discuss the movie. That's what we do here....discuss things. There is not a requirement for joining our site that says - All posters must only praise all movies....no complaining allowed.

And why are u even here? Youve seen the movie and are clearly not enthusiastic about it since u obviously did not like it, yet u r here defending it. Why??
I'm sorry that you have lived such a sheltered life that the mere fact that someone may not share your opinion on things sends you into a tither. But in the world of grownups.....grownups discuss things....and many many times they discuss things civilly with people who do not share their opinion. They do not scream and shout at them or demand to know why they are here to discuss things at a discussion board.

So please try to be civil and get along with others.

Does anyone know what the opening night IMAX fan event entails? My theater has the fan event an hour earlier then the regular showing, but is it worth it?
