Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

Am I the only one that does not like this scene or maybe I have questions? How the army guy was just standjng there bout to let the chopper hit him? What is Selene doing in the back ground
The acting/dialogue aren't very good.

Either he’s in shock or he doesn’t want to seem intimidated. Pride can be a dangerous thing. As for Selene, she’s likely out there at the beginning of the clip to see what the helicopters are about. Magneto gestures for his forces to stop from doing anything to the soldiers, so she remains there. I doubt she could do anything to Jean considering she’s the much weaker of the two telepaths. And she’s not quite close enough to be endangered by the blades by the time Magneto sends the copter off.

Army guy: Like I said we're not here for you, Erik--"I was imprisoned for assassinating POTUS JFK" "I lifted RFK Stadium dropped it on top of the White House and, in front of millions of TV viewers, threatened to assassinate POTUS Nixon and his Cabinet" "I helped Apocalypse murder millions of innocents across the globe"--Lensherr. No "Magneto," we're here to arrest some redhead who flipped a couple of cars in a suburb in New York.

I can't fathom the US government agreeing to cede domestic territory to a foreign terrorist with crimes against the country (never mind the world) as heinous as Magneto's. That's like Osama bin Laden being rewarded with Albuquerque after 9/11.

I mean can’t we just throw Alabama to him lol

This clip really showcases how magneto has grown since first class. The fact that he helps the soldiers and later takes initiative for killing Jean shows he has a more nuanced outlook on things instead of "Human bad! Mutants rule!"
Indeed it does.

It’s really through Kinberg’s lens that this is looking so fresh. The sharpness of the visuals and layered depth and richness of shot quality is stunning. Nothing looks like a tv shot. Each frame looks handcrafted. The hues, colors, clothing style and composition are all workin such harmony. The care and skill placed into making this product is clearly on display. Far more than what I’ve seen with other directors ruining Kinberg scripts.

I also like that there is weight to the action. Even a single helicopter crash can be so dangerous to the surroundings and this is so meticulously protrayed. No panache, just pure technical skill and depth at hand

The thing I like in this shot is that it gives us a sign of Cyc actually being concerned for her. It’s only a slight nod to their relationship but because he doesn’t seem worried about the flight, it shows us that he is stepping into that leadership role.. I’ve taken a lot from a very short gif

I wonder if that’s before or after the force enters her

Oh hey Simon!

I just watched a few videos that were a collection of TV spots and clips released.

I feel like they're showing the entire movie.

I am gonna break the trend/norm of toxic, biased and nonsensical internet negativity towards this movie: It looks outstanding, all the new promos we got, the posters, the clips, it looks wonderful.

The X-Men franchise has always been in a whole different level regarding superhero movies, its is own league, and this one seems to be the cherry on the cake to end the saga in a high note.

Dark Phoenix seems to be a fresh of breath air for the franchise: visually it looks better than ever with some really amazing VFX shots, seems to told a dark, personal, intimate, suspensful and mature story, seems to be well shot, the music sounds great already, casting is great, etcetera, i could focus on the little negative things and rant pointlessly about them, but it serves no purpose, i am not that kind of user and we can complain AFTER we see the movie.

I cannot wait.

Right there with you, hoping this will end the franchise on a good note and I am looking forward to it.

This is going on, but I'm not sure what locations are participating in it.

It'll most likely be something like this though.

X-Men #darkphoenix reviews drop on Monday, almost two weeks before the film's release, only making me more excited for it. Hate them all you want for it is your right to, but I adore this franchise. Hopefully we get a satisfying end to the franchise that made this craze possible.

Maybe it's a social media embargo for Monday and written reviews are the following Tuesday. That's about the best I can figure.

I do not know if it's true

I can never remember, is it better that a review embargo lifts close to release or not? Endgame was close to release but was that because of spoilers?

It a sign of confidence by the studio the earlier the reviews drop from the release date.

The closer to the release date (like the day before) suggests the studio has little confidence and are attempting to "hide" the film, so there is a smaller gap of bad reviews to hurt it.

Films that are basically gaurteed to make money/have a huge fan base like Star Wars or Endgame can't get away with it for spoilers.

As much as I would like it to be true, I think he's mistaken.

It seems more likley the film will be shown to reviewers on Monday and the social media reactions will be released on that day.

It seems that only a couple of reviewers got to see the film earlier because they were interviewing the cast.

I confess I wish it were true.
the best thing that can happen to this movie if it is good is the ratings being released days before the release, this would have a great effect at the box office.
there are many people suspicious of this movie and who will only watch this in theaters if you have a good rating, many people do not want to see another bad xmen movie or say goodbye to the franchise seeing a bad movie.
but if it's bad, it'll be bad anyway, hiding can only help the opening week and nothing else, so they need to take the risk.

Actually considering his answer is still kill the obstacle, I am going to say it isn't more nuanced at all.
