Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

Did Dark PhoeniX get Empire magazine covers? FC, Dofp and A had them in the past.

The suits in the comics are form fitting. The suits in the movies are loose. They look like bad cosplayers, not superheroes.

I don't know why they didn't keep the suits from the end of the last film.

Those suits were the best thing to come out of Apocalypse. They were well-designed and more in line with the comics than anything we've seen [reviously from this franchise. There really wasn't any need to change them.

X-Men #darkphoenix reviews drop on Monday, almost two weeks before the film's release, only making me more excited for it. Hate them all you want for it is your right to, but I adore this franchise. Hopefully we get a satisfying end to the franchise that made this craze possible.

Maybe it's a social media embargo for Monday and written reviews are the following Tuesday. That's about the best I can figure.

I do not know if it's true

I think that's not true. Fox don't showed the whole movie yet. According to a german journalist, Fox showed only 20 minutes from the movie in Berlin last week

I dont know whose creative decision it was to introduce those costumes at the end, but im guessing it was Singer and maybe he had planned to use them in the Apocalypse sequel if he had stayed on.

Not necessarily. It might have just been a cool little cameo to end the movie with.

When it actually came to using the costumes in a way that wasn't just standing there and looking cool. it might have been seen abit differently.

While i would have liked they use those outfits, i get the why they have matching costumes. you don't get police officers or firemen with different costumes walking around. they are recognized by their uniform.

The uniform aspect of the new suits seems to more a story point for Dark Phoenix.

Xavier is using the X-men as mascots for mutants kind; believing if they are seen saving the world then humans and mutants can live in in harmony. He is basically making them a brand.

My only real disappointment is that they never let Scott keep his visor from Apoclapyse.
I never felt that one (that just sticks on the face) could be done right/would look silly in live action but I really liked how it turned out in the film.

I went so to see Aladdin today and at my theatre they had a promo for the Marcus rewards card with Dark Phoenix advertising and they showed a new scene in the forest party and Storm makes ice cubes for Kurt and Scott. That is so classic Storm/X-Men, Kinberg has really paid attention to small details like that. And the fire bird looks amazing now that I saw a glimpse of it on the big screen.

I like that this film seems to be really playing with their powers in a fun everyday sense (storm making ice cubes) to them working in unison like when quicksilver enters "quicksilver time" during the shuttle mission Nightcrawler is already mid-BAMF (it visually interesting but shows they probably do it all the time so shows history)

I’m glad a lot of that scene seems to be in the final cut. In the entirety of the franchise until now, we never really see the X-Men just relaxing and that’s a big point in the comics, especially 90s era.

kinberg has lost the social criticism of X-men. Singer captured the tone of the mutants very well.Knberg is only interested in looking like a crappy version of the Avengers.

I agree! In Singer films they seemed more like coworkers/teachers than a actual family. We never got to see them doing just normal everyday things before either at the mansion, the park, the mall (yes I know theirs a scene in Apocalypse but sadly it was left out). It’s those little scenes that make the characters cool, relatable. I always wanted to see a scene with Scott, Beast and Logan @ the bar having a guys night out and a mini bar fight breaks out LOL.

I just watched an youtube page full of Dark Phoenix videos. And I don't think I've seen one scene where Sansa Stark had a decent line reading. Utter cringe.

I guess I am in

I guess I am in the minority.. those costumes look ummm look very fake .. they look like costumes ..the new x-costumes look more uniform and realistic ..yea they may not be pretty to the eye but they look real

She looks good for the part but is a very inexperienced actress. Sometimes she feels a little stiff, unrelaxed and one-dimensional.

She shows a lot more range in this one but with what they’ve shown of here I see where you’re coming from. A lot of it has to do with her accent as a lot of brits changing to an American accent, more prominent in female than male, have to slow their speech and get a few octaves deeper. It’s like when I do a particular a British accent, my voice gets softer and a few octaves higher.

You're certainly not the minority. Those costumes look very bad, unpolished, lifeless and it's not colourful enough. With the exception of Kurt's, all I see is blue.

Drastically different from how well done and alive those costumes are:

I came up with the 'more like co-workers' line back in 2004. Glad they are embracing it 15 years later...

I mean I agree with the principle of the argument, but the X-Men did hang out at the museum in X2. One of the reasons that's the best X-Men movie for me.

She missed the mark a few times on GoT as well.

On the other hand, it's a crying shame that McAvoy and Fassbender won't be in the MCU.

Fassbender and McAvoy worked mostly because of their chemistry as well as good acting. Fassie doesn't resemble the comic book Magneto though.

I feel sure we will get great new versions of both characters in the MCU. Somewhere between the First Class and OT versions would be good, but I'm just excited to see what they come up with.

Now that I really disect it, that’s the reason why that’s my favorite as well. They were the most humanized in that movie because of that scene, but even then I took that as their job as teachers first. They never interacted with each other in that scene aside from Jean and Scott’s foreshadowing moment.

This forest scene is that and more because it has them with each other, yes the students are there as we see them hanging out in the Emeli Sandé video, but you see them having fun as friends.
