Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

I feel older and older every passing day. lmao

Soon enough it'll be 20 years since Lord of the Rings (already is since they started filming it)

I think Sophie, James, Michael and Jessica are guests and filming with The Late Late Show with James Corden in London next week on the 18th. Unsure why they’re still doing promo for Dark Phoenix.

You have to admire Disney for trying.

Out of all the youtube critic reviews Ive seen I think Doug Walker sums up best why Dark Phoenix is underwhelming from a cinematic perspective. The characters are monotoned; they talk with the same serious tone and pitch from the moment they return to earth until the end. Theres no variance or change in mood and it becomes boring after 30 or so minutes of listening to one-note dialogue.

I have to say her video at the red carpet is the most video from Marvel Entertainment's Dark Phoenix red carpet videos. So see, she brings attention and she wasn't even in Dark PhoeniX. FoX completely wasted her along with the other ot cast members.

Just wanted to say that one of my favorite moments in the film was Cyclops getting a glimpse of someone hurting Jean and immediately blasting them through the roof. That was badass.

I don't think Nolan ever said that X-Men was an influence exactly. He merely expressed admiration that Singer beat him to the punch in terms of crafting the first ever grounded, naturalistic take on a superhero franchise before he was able to do so with Batman.
And so, I think you can see exactly what @Milk Tray Guy meant.

How come nobody is talking about the ridiculous binoculars that Magneto used when he was on the island?

Have you read the article?
Cesar Sanchez-Guzman filed a lawsuit in December 2017
The decision to resolve the matter with the bankruptcy trustee was purely a business one, as litigation costs would well exceed the amount requested by the trustee to pay off the creditors who were owed money when the debtor filed for bankruptcy.”

The suit was filed shortly after Singer was fired as the director of “Bohemian Rhapsody.” More recently, Millennium Films had hired Singer to direct “Red Sonja,” but plans to shoot the film in Bulgaria this year were canceled.

If the settlement is approved, Sanchez-Guzman’s lawsuit will be dismissed with prejudice.

Even if the film was great, it was always gonna end up like this. Ever since Disney bought Fox, everyone's just waiting for the MCX-Men.

I remember when I saw the trailer at the cinema the first time, I said "Dead franchise walking!!!" to my GF. It was a joke, but not far from the truth. This movie was DOA from the beginning. No one wanted this movie. It was never going to be a smash hit on its best day. It's fate was only further cemented the day the mouse bought Fox.

No director's cut is going to materialize for this. Dark Phoenix will fade into the background of CBM history as an oddity. Disney wants us to forget it for the reboot, and audiences want to move on.

Yeah, Disney shouldn't have released this at all, but they threw fans a bone instead. They're not going to put out the Kinberg cut now on top of that.

I sadly agree. I don’t know if Disney could have stopped production on it when they got the rights, but if they did, their loses wouldn’t be much more than they’re going to be now..plus it would have avoided this blood bath of brand damage to the X-Men since the release which is worth money right there.

I don’t think it’s nearly awful enough to deserve the backlash it’s been getting but I can easily say I wouldn’t have missed not getting this film.
