Days of Future Past X-Men: Days of Future Past Speculation

From someone who doesn't know about the story, can someone answer this for me?

How much is Wolverine in the storyline? I see at some site that filming is supposed to start on Jan. 14, and Hugh has another movie that he's filming in Feburary in Atlanta (plus all the supposed Oscar-schmoozing for Les Miserables probably about that time).

How much screentime/filming would his role take do you think?

Wouldn't necessarily take long, even with a fairly expansive role, Kevin Spacey filmed all his scenes for Superman Returns in 3 weeks.

Ah, thanks for the answer. His film "Prisoners" supposedly starts filming in February - it was originally January but one site says it was pushed. Not sure if it had anything to do with Hugh, but the thought crossed my mind that it may have been for any Oscar stuff he may have to do in January, but now maybe he's filming this first. Of course it may not have *anything* to do with him at all!

I doubt Wolverine will actually be a key character in this.

There already is. It's on the second page.

I'm hoping they'll do Wolverine's death from the original story, where there's nothing left but the adamantium skeleton. I also hope we see Prof. X sporting those robot leg braces he had in the future scenes on "Wolverine and the X-Men".

Anyway, while my hopes are unusually high that this movie is going to be badass, the thing I'm worried about the most is what tvtropes calls San Dimas Time, or similar "Meanwhile in the past/future" plot gymnastics. I'm hoping that after the time travel occurs, that's the last we see of the future, because it'll be weird if they keep intercutting between time periods while the characters in the past are actively trying to change the future.

Other than that, I can't wait.

I think that intercutting is possible if what the future!mutants do after the time travel is somehow important to the attempt to prevent the crucial event in the past.

Otherwise yes, any actions in the future are pretty much pointless and have no bearing on the outcome, no matter how cool the fights with the Sentinels might look.

I'm not sure I agree with you. The X-men in the future don't place a whole lot of hope that their plan will work. It's more like a desperate attempt that they make in case they fail to stop the sentinels. Hence in the comics they are actively doing something, which I believe was going to the Baxter Building to destroy teh Sentinel control centre. So intercutting between past and future would be good because we could see the X-Men lose hope and then regain hope in themselves and in their ability to survive. As well as amazing action scenes with sentinels.

I see no problem with showing future scenes a few times within the film. After they have deployed the time travel, the future-mutants aren't just going to sit and have a coffee while waiting for the effects of changing history; they are going to keep fighting for their survival and more battles and deaths will occur, making the time traveller's actions even more desperate and essential.

I hope they don't kill Wolverine because if they kill him, I think they eventually resurrect him in the next X-Men movie.

ain't the whole point that he is killed then they change the future so he doesn't die after all?

Maybe they'll send a baddie back in time to wreak some sort of havoc which in turn sets the events off in the future, which causes the goodie to be sent back in time with the aid of the 60s X-Men to stop the baddie.

Has there been any talk about what character will be going back in time to the past to warn the team? Being that chances are it's not going to be Kitty.

Not officially, just speculation.

No.

I will bet my money Bryan Singer In connecting films will have It be character from earlier films. That leaves us with these possibiltys

Wolverine-This Is a big possibilty. One report claims Hugh Jackman Is In talks for prominent role In DOFP

Xavier-If they do the switching of minds like In original comic I can defently see It be Xavier switching Minds. If they do this means the film will switch back and forth between
past and future

Mystique-Another possibilty for the mind switch

Rogue-If the time travel Is a physical one having her fill the Kitty role Is very much In the realm of Possibilty.

Kitty-If Bryan Singer has to Include the Last Stand In cannon he may try to get Ellen Page as Kitty. This Is best way to Include last Stand and not reference It.

Link please.

I was also thinking: the future timeline doesn't have to be in canon with the films we've seen. It could be The Wrong Timeline, while X1, X2 and maybe X3 represent the timeline set right, but it's only possible with this time-travel intervention. It would give the filmmakers more freedom in the future portion of the story.

have just seen his interview to Access Hollywood, and according to his words, it didnt seem he is gonna have a big role.

is he still in talks or is he on board already?
