Days of Future Past X-Men: First Class filming thread: News, reports, images etc.

As long as they avoid the effects work showcased in Wolverine, I'll be happy.

Yeah I have high hopes for First Class FX considering the quality of the FX in X1 - X3. Wolverine on the other hand had terrible FX.

Drat! Had to turn down offer of 4 weeks on X-Men First Class for day job

It's my favorite scene in X1. Second favorite being the hallway scene with Xavier and Magneto.

Looks like we'll get an Erik flashback. Wonder if will get one for Charles. Probably.

X-Men: First Class is being filmed in the UK. Naturally, all good superhero films are, at least partly, shot here. Where else in the English speaking world can you find so many aging thespians who can chew their way through such exposition with such conviction, and so many special effects and stuntpeople willing to throw themselves into the firing line, quite literally in some cases? But the perils of such shooting is to find locations that don’t instantly look like something out of Trainspotting and not Miami Vice. So keeping them inside is a good thing.
Right now the company Sarah Eastel Locations is searching for all sorts of properties. Including one described as;
Large cellars with high ceilings ideally within south east.
For very high profile feature film shooting within bext two months
I understand that’s X-Men: First Class. And they need a new X-Mansion. I also note they’re looking for
Large brutallist building to double as CIA headquarters, for feature film shooting November for 1 month. Anywhere in the UK
Early Stan and Jack X-Men had Professor X aligned with the US secret services. I wonder if the same could be happening here?

This got lost in the speculation thread so i'll post it here:

Some guy who works at Pinewood studios tweeted:

saw halle berry here on my break!
She's either filming her new movie Dark Tide or visiting the First Class set. She's friends with Lauren Shuler Donner. A non-Storm cameo would be cool.

Another quote from Vaughn when asked how he and Goldman finished their Kick-Ass script in 4 weeks:

"A good script should never take a long time to write."

No wonder he brought in Jane after Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz finished their draft. But will the WGA grant Goldman a writing credit? I don't think she's a WGA member, since there wasn't any WGA-approved credits for Stardust, The Debt and Kick-Ass.

Does anyone know how long they are filming in Oxford? I'd like to see what the set looks like, I'm interested in how films are made, especially when it is just outside my place of study haha

I have one sentance to say about this...

I was stood watching them film X-Men First Class in my town...

Some of you may have seen the recent pictures of James McAvoy with hair as the article keeps saying walking out of one of the old buildings we have in Oxford...

well... i was stood in the crowd the day those photos were taken. and im going back tomorrow to have another sneek peak look...

may take camera with me see if i can take some sneaky pics i'll keep you posted.

its so bizzar, there filming X-Men not far from my home.

think there there for a couple of weeks... from what im told the roads have been closed off around there for that long.

About them recreating Magneto's origin scene from X1...

According to Bleeding Cool’s sources, this sequence plays out shot-for-shot in the upcoming X-Men: First Class… at least, up to a point. They casting is different too, of course – this time around, the tremendous Bill Milner is playing Lensherr – and when the sequence does deviate, it’s with some very dramatic twists… which we’ll be keeping under our hats for now, I’m afraid.

Director Matthew Vaughn had video reference of the original sequence on tap for the cast and crew during their prep for shooting this sequence, and for the shots that are mirrored, the attention to detail is apparently quite exhaustive.
