It's looking increasingly likely that Turner will be joined by Michael Fassbender's Magneto and Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique in the blockbuster, too. That's according to recent comments from producer Hutch Parker, who, after recently being asked by CinemaBlend whether the two actors would feature in Dark Phoenix, teased:

I'd rather not confirm any of those officially, but yes, the current story that we're working on has that group involved as well as some of the younger characters that we introduced last time.

I didn't stop there, though, because I also wanted to know whether or not Rogue would feature, especially because the character plays such an integral role in the tale.

Hutch Parker again didn't confirm that Rogue would definitely be involved in The Dark Phoenix, but his comments make it sound as though it will more than likely happen, especially considering how much more "expansive" the story is to that of Logan. Hutch Parker continued,

We're all sorting out exactly which mutants will be part of it, and which ones won't. It is a bit more expansive than... obviously Logan was a bit more intimate of a story. This one's a bit more expansive, and you know the comics, so you know how and why. We're still kind of sorting that through.

um rogue wasn't even introuduced in comics at time of dark phoenix so i don't know what the interviewer is smoking.

but now we know dark phoenix will offically be a mess with kinberg directing and both magneto and mystique in it.

Part of me doesn't want Lawrence because that's screentime taken away from other characters. But also because of this and other interviews where she's putting down X-Men films and said she's only come back if they paid her enough.

Jennifer Lawrence is currently out promoting a sci-fi film of a different kind called Passengers, which just so happens to co-star Chris Pratt from Guardians of the Galaxy. While chatting with MTV Lawrence was asked if she would ever like to cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Oh my god, I would love to. I would choose that over doing another X-Men movie maybe. I won't be Mystique in the X-Men movies, but I would love to be Mystique in the Guardians of the Galaxy. I wonder if that can happen?

I think the interviewer is aware that its unlikely to follow the source material that closely.

But like all the X-Men movies they will do things abit differently, even DOFP had enough differences from the source material so i dunno why Dark Phoenix would follow any particular guideline.

Heck Logan wasn't exactly Old Man Logan.

Screentime doesn't really work that way.

Especially in an "expansive story", you can't really get defensive everytime screentime isn't on certain characters because there wouldn't be much going on in that case.

people who like the x-men films even apocalypse are scratching their heads on this.fox is allowing kinberg to be left to his own devices and this time direct.yes i know kinberg hasn't been confirmed but we all know he is
doing film even if they haven't confirmed it.bringing back fassbender is one
thing but lawrence? Lawrence as she made clear when promating passengers
doesn't even like x-men films.it's clear it's just about big paycheck for her to be in dark phoenix.if they have desire to do dark phoenix right this time they
are going the wrong way.

at least in original trilogy wolverine was most popular x-man and people liked jackman as wolverine.mystique as played by lawrence has little in
common with version in comics.mystique was villain or grey character
not the heroine they turned her into in apocalypse.and very few outside of die hard fans of lawrence like her as mystique.

this film has disaster written all over it as being another last stand.

and if they introduce a 8 to 10 year old rogue.that too is ridculas.

you hit the nail on the head why at least me doesn't want her back.she puts down x-men films.and remember her saying she put her foot down for apocalypse and that is why she was out of blue makeup 90% of time.singer and kinberg tried to explain why but we know full well real reason.

instead of paying her a lot for film called dark phoenix let's focus on jean and cyclops.i worry now jean'ss tory despite title will come off as subplot.

and of course this does nothing to get us not to worry about fox allowing
kinberg to direct.fassbender and lawrence are all but confirmed now and
doudtful mcavoy and holt won't be in this eather.question is how will that affect characters in this timeline introduced in apocalypse.

with all due respect fox marvel films are director visions except when rothman was micromanaging last stand and origins and when they panacked with ff when they saw josh trank rough cut.

if you critize singer for apocalypse you have to credit him for dofp.and there was many rewrites of dofp after singer took over.

and even people who liked apocalypse are worried with kinberg running show for dark phoenix.the odds are good it is his idea to bring back both fassbender and lawrence.

Course Singer deserves credit for DOFP but there was a script already before Singer Came onboard and i assume it didn't have wolverine in any bigger of a role then what he actually got in the movie Singer directed.

Probably yeah but do you think if Bryan directed he wouldn't bring them back?

Its like getting annoyed with Kinberg for continuing the 10 year skip but that had been Bryans idea since he pitched FC so there are certain things that would probably happen either way.

If Xavier wasnt enough already, they want Raven and Eric too? Jesus. And they also want to introduce beloved characters like Rogue? WTF?

Its not just the fact that Raven, Eric and Charles will have a, at least, decent amount os screentime, taking from the new cast, but its also a matter of too many characters. What chance Shipp's Storm will have? Or a new Rogue. And those are beloved characters that the fans are dying to see done justice since 2000. My god.

And that's what I hate the most. They are aware of that of that, they're not stupid. They just don't care.

Every news about this movie is a disappointment. And on top of that there is Kinberg.

i share frustations with dark phoenix bit what you are describing is turning deadpool into reboot of x-men and turning this into deadpool and franchise.a worse idea than making lawrence's mystique in name only a major character in flagship x-men films.

we are way past the opotion of reboot at this point.they have too many projects in the works.

I'm wondering if Mystique's involvement could be to introduce Rogue, maybe Rogue will be part of the brotherhood and Xavier will steal her away to the X-Men turning Mystique back into a villain, also the mother side of her character is something we've not seen and could actually be done well if J-Law brings her A-game rather than her being a leader all the time.

i dont see them well I hope they not having Magneto go evil again, if he is in this film I can see them using him to clear up the QS situation. I just hope its not more than that he should have a supporting role at best. Xavier I can understand because he is the founder of the XMen. I just dont see them utilizing Magneto and Mystique only to have them go evil once again so fast and start up the Brotherhood besides its something I dont even want to see honestly.

I loved Mera's costume and the red hair is just spectacular.
On another note Im hoping the JLAw rumor is just that a rumor and not true. How Apocalypse ended with her coming to terms with her blue skin I just cant see her returning to be dosed in the blue paint she doesnt like wearing. I just hope this is false just to throw people off track with the direction they are taking the film, really dont like how she bad mouthed the franchise then come back. I just dont want her as Mystique anymore, my anticipation for this movie has dropped quite a bit from that news which im still hoping isnt fully true.

If by chance they have both Magneto and Mystique as full on villains for DPX, like if they actually have them creating the Brotherhood which I still cant see happening and using her as a way to bring in Rogue whom's mutant powers are strength and flight as well as absorption then I'm down for that. I just want Mystique to have a different look lol, I dont like the naked reptilian aspect to this version of the character.
