But I wonder just who then can replace Jackman as Wolverine especially if they do go about doing this sequel? Because whoever plays the new Wolverine will have huge shoes to fill that is for sure

I am fairly certain wolverine won't be in the next movie and id be surprised if he is recast anytime soon.

It actually makes sense that they don't jump on to a quick recast since jackman is still fresh in the audience mind as both past and future wolverine for 9 movies so you would need to give enough time before trying to fit a recast in there.

Is it a risk to not have wolverine in there? unfortunately maybe yeah, but forcing a recast in there probably wouldn't help either.

That's true he is still fresh in our minds and given how Logan ended to bring the character of Wolverine back would actually kind of be redundant especially if it all exists within one universe...given how Wolverine died but also given the fact of his daughter Laura I mean can Logan really come back? I mean the X-Men franchise now is essentially a prequel anyway

Oh you can bet that Logan will be recasted.

it's going to happen eventully but not in dark phoenix.they likely want some distance between jackman's final and recasting wolverine.

int heory i could see a couple of films or even trilogy set in 1990's without wolverine and when they get to 2000's that is when they reintroduce and recast wolverine.

how long logan remains part of timeline depends if there are plans to use x-23 again. With cable in present day they can use the ecsure he prevented events of logan.

if kinberg falls on his butt with dark phoenix then fox could move to recast wolverine in x-men film after dark phoenix.

but it;s only when not if fox recasts wolverine

Using Cable to explain that he prevented all of the events in Logan for this X-Men sequel is actually smart...given the whole time travel past/future aspect of the X-Men franchise given the events of DOFP, Apocalypse and Logan and Cable being in Deadpool 2 it actually makes sense

i actully don't like idea of erasing another film from official timeline of films but the odds are strong they will use the cable in present day to erase logan from canon.

Honestly i am willing to bet no one involved is looking at Logan in that kinda eh oh we need to erase this from the timeline type deal.

But I can see it being erased from canon because of the fact of Cable being involved in this franchise and Cable being from the future travels to the past his very presence in the past changes everything

They may wanna carry on with X23 in the future period and while many have assumed she will be in X-Force its possible they may just move forward from where logan ended.

you would think that after postinve reaction to x-23 in logan they would want to use her again.however only option is solo film or setting x-force after logan.

i think it's ridculas idea to have cable show up in 2029 and then take her several years in past to stay as part of present day X-force.i feel same way with cable going to 1980's and taking psylocke to present day.and this time they couldn't blame it on kinberg for stupid idea:woot:

reason why they may want to not have it known that xavier, wolverine, and others die by 2029.again logan news report said some of x-men not all died in incident.

wolverine has to be recast at some point since if they keep doing x-men films in past as essential prequels to future scene of dofp and keep other spin-offs in present or near future wolverine has to show up eventully.

A better tribute song would have been Johnny Cash's The Man who Comes Around

You know what the Fox execs won't do that they absolutely should? Look at he success of Guardians of the Galaxy and say:

"Man, we should do something like that with X-Men, because that's making good cheddar. Is that possible?"
And one of the writers who's read the comics will be like, "Actually yeah, the X-Men go on space adventures all the time."
And the exec would say "Really?! Like what?"
And the writer would be like "Well, there's the Shi'Ar, there's the Starjammers, we got the rights to all those guys."
"Huh, those sound cool," says the exec, "But weren't we gonna do a movie all about that redhead girl with the fire powers for the next one? We're pretty locked into that one."
"You mean Jean and the Phoenix Saga?" says the writer. "Well yeah, but that story was a space adventure too. We were gonna cut out all the planet-hopping stuff like the other movies, but if you wanna put it back in and do the next movie that way, we totally could."
"Oh," says the exec. "Okay. Do it. X-Men in Space."

Pretty sure the movie version (not the comics version) of X-Men going into space all of a sudden would be a jumping the shark moment.

At least build it up first and differentiate from GotG (or Green Lantern) so that if they do it, its not because of a gimmick or that "it worked in the comics".

well kinberg is such a hack i can see him going into outer space and dark phoenix in one film.but apart fromt hat X-men in outer space would be total
different than gotg.it wouldn't be cracking jokes consently.x-men model is different than gotg or to be blunt the mcu brand.

I prefer X-men on earth.that is where they are important.but,i can't deny the legacy of x-men includes going into outer space.

It can be done in one movie, yes it will be an abridged adaptation on the story but then thats what these comic book movies do anyway.

And TBH the idea that kinberg is doing something no one else would do in his position is more or less ignorant.

Honestly if they touch on space in the next movie i doubt it would be full blown guardians of the galaxy, it would probably be more a tease to a much bigger universe.

Now if they made a starjammers movie i could see that being more like guardians of the galaxy.

phoenix would largly become a sub-plot again.

how some think they can do a save the universe story and personal story of jean going to dark side and x-men having to fight her and try to save her.

X-men defently wouldn't become gotg.

Dark Phoenix saga would make sense but then at the same time wouldn't you have to include Wolverine in that saga

Well, there's a few things to be learned from GoTG: Excellent special effects. A focus on the actual Guardians themselves. And a pop culture appeal.

One of the main frustrations with the X-Men films is that the focus isn't on the X-Men. At present, it's on Xavier, Magneto and Mystique. Previously it was mostly on Xavier, Magneto and Wolverine.

Can you imagine if they made a GoTG movie and the Guardians were mostly wallpaper while the focus was on someone else? Or if they made a Harry Potter movie and the focus was NOT on Harry Potter and his friends? Sadly, this is what Fox is doing with X-Men. They are sometimes looking at things in a very odd way that leads people to think they don't really have a good grasp of the material (even if that is not true).

Of course, GoTG isn't perfect by any means. I am a much bigger fan of X-Men - and the X-Men movies have far more depth and substance - but they are missing the mark in several key ways. The series hasn't done badly, but it could do better.

In my view, X-Men: Dark Phoenix now needs a new costume designer and some first-class VFX, whether it goes into space or not. At this point, it's really not clear if they will go cosmic with this movie.

Marvel Studios has a certain mindset when it comes to ensemble films, meaning they know how to do it. Even if a few of the cast are more of the supporting type, they all get their own little arc and time to shine.
