If the X-Men are heading into space it makes sense that Writer/Director/Producer Simon Kinberg would use that opportunity to skip forward a couple of decades.

No way are they sending these characters into space just to get them into the present faster.

Its a convoluted idea.

What's the drawback? That it will mess with the franchise continuity?

Deadpool wouldn't technically know the X-Men because that part of history is erased and tbh colossus wouldn't be an X-Man either.

It would not help the continuity at all.

Like how they explained how Kitty has consciousness-transporting powers or how Xavier is alive or how they explained that there's a new Psylocke, Angel, Jubilee, Sabretooth, Emma, Moira, Caliban. Oh wait they didn't do any of that.

I'm not advocating that they do it but it's par for the course for this franchise.

Just because they're out of Singer's hands, you think the continuity errors and unexplained plot points will just magically be fixed?

big news is parker confirmed kinberg as director.though i wonder if fox wanted that

now dark phoenix saga is uncanny x-men vol 1 #129-37 not the phoenix saga
from uncanny X-men #105 & 107/108.jean/phoenix started dark turn in aftermath of proteus saga and at same time kitty was introduced and x-men first met dazzler.the hellfire club attacked x-men and seduced jean to dark side.i mention this becuse i seem to know more about than so called genre experts who do interviews

i think it's fairly obvious kinberg is bringing x-men into outer space with dark phoenix.probem i see for cyclops is xavier,magneto,and mystique will all likely go into outer space too.it;s very well known i have no faith in kinberg.
if this was singer doing dark phoenix a whole different story.

one thing i am fairly safe in saying is they aren't going to bring the first class trilogy into present.especilly not to become deadpool supporting characters.
that would make the contunity problems some moan about even worse.

Cable showing up to the party would be fun although not essential, it'd be easier if they just transported the whole gang into the future and has them set in that continuity from here on out. He just needs to transport them past the end of Logan to come restart the school or something that we we get rid of having them to look like the OT.

If they decide to go to space for the next film an upon them returning they are in present day. I see no problem with that. They could be lightyears away from Earth on some made up planet, so time can pass by much faster. I dont mind it though and Ill be happy all the movies are in the same timeline.

But do you really think they care enough to throw them into the future through timey space captain America type logic.

TBH i don't get the sense anyone involved is trying hard to make a mixable shared universe when everyone is just doing their own thing anyway.

to me pulling the all new x-men card of putting younger cast into present just so they can can then interact with deadpool would be a mess.

ignore the fact those people suggesting this seem to want to turn x-men into mcu lite with deadpool as equilvent of stark.it's going to butcher contunity even more than it ever was.if kinberg did that he would prove people who think he is a hack right.

I think we a due a Nightcrawler White House assault type scene in this franchise, with the same character himself. It could really top those Quicksilver scenes if done well.
