The mohawk is one of Storms most iconic looks, she's sporting it right now in her solo comic and it looks awesome. They have to do that as some point.

Absolutely no to the mohawk style for this 16 year old Ororo.

It's not that I'm against possibly having that look at some point down the road, but for this introduction I'm thinking something along the lines of:

and:

I guess it depends how her character arc will be. A mohawk look would make sense if the X-Men find Storm in a village and she is worshiped as a god for her gifts and then when she comes to America and finds out how "American" society are towards mutants and how they are treated then she rebels in her own way by changing her style to a more outcast look of some sorts which then you cue in the mohawk.

I wouldn't mind seeing this if they went with a mohawk...

Since Singer gave Quicksilver a style based around early glam rock, he could always do that for Storm with the punk and hardcore scene of the 80s I guess.

Wouldn't rule anything out. I expect them to play up the styles of that time in some form, and all music fashion trends were pretty out there even with the pop new wave scene. Since most these characters are young there should be a least a few rebellious attitudes going on.

I know I would like to know who else actually auditioned for the part is all, I also have to disagree with your last sentence because hollywood dosent always pick based on talent but someone they consider beautiful or whom will sell. I find it hard to believe if these rumor is true that those 2 women were the only great actresses when we have so many more talented women it's just probably the look they want for Storm not that these women blowed them away with a great performance

Exactly. Fox is going more for a look as opposed to talent and who's best for the role.

Looking at McAvoy, Fassbender, Lawrence, Dinklage and now Oscar Isaac, I can't agree that Fox have been picking actors based on their look over their talent.

All I know is.... SHOULDERPADS!

So many people have complained about contunity of X-Men films now with time travel they have pretty much left with FC,DOFP and pre 1973 parts of origins and the wolverine if you want to count those 2.Yet some want to totally disregard the future ending of DOFP.

With the exception of Sophie Turner i haven't seen any of these actors Inless you count the cyclops candiate in kingsman trailer.

Sophie Turner i support as Jean is she's actully red head and could be bought as younger version of Jean that Famke Janssen was seen as at end of DOFP.

Jean doesn't need a perfect american accent. However Cyclops does.Let's remember Nicholas Hoult has different accent in real life than he plays as beast so I am not worried.

With storm actresses under consideration seem like If you put white wigs on them they can be bought as younger version of Storm that Halle Berry played at end of DOFP.

It's easy for some to bash fox saying they care only for looks over talent.I will trust Bryan Singer who directed X-Men,X2,and Days of future Past to supervise casting.

So anyone considered Mulatto is not black? Both Actresses mentioned for Storm are Mulatto as is Halle Berry.

That is stupid. It's like anyone who's considered Eurasian isn't considered Asian because they're half white.

Is it so hard to cast a black actress that's actually a fit for the role and not a look. Coleman doesn't even look like Berry, if being lighter skin is the criteria then Fox is going about this the wrong way. What is wrong with Keke Palmer? She's actually a pretty decent actress, certainly better then Coleman and Shipp. I just know Fox can do better. Even a light skin actress like Gugu Mbatha can play storm, i think she'd fit better then Berry but she's to old for what's required. Their is more to Storm then just looks, and the two girls mentioned don't have it. I can accept a lighter skin actress no problem as long as she captures the spirit of Storm, something Berry has never done. That Coleman girl doesn't even look black, she looks hispanic. Is it fair to exclude her cause she doesn't look black enough? Probably not but Storm is supposed to be black. I could even get pass Coleman skin tone but acting wise and capturing Storm's is not something she can pull off. These girls are not Storm, they are actresses being considered to fit a look and that's not something i want for Storm. I had hoped that maybe Singer and Fox would get it right but it looks like a no and i don't want to suffer a decade or more of some actress (god, especially Coleman) looks nothing like the charcter and is in name only and only there for FX.

Then why cast her if you're just going to put makeup on her to look darker? They did the same to Zoe Saldana in the Nina Simone biopic and they got so much flack for it, deservedly so. There are other darker-skinned African-American actresses in that case.

Hollywood is braindead is why. I never got the Saldana thing, she's not even that light, heck Mary J Blige was supposed to play simone but backed out and she is lighter then Saldana. Actresses like Saldana and a Blige are fine, no one is gonna mistake them for not being black and why it shouldn't matter, you don't have to match the skin tone to the letter but Coleman as Storm makes no sense. Again it may not be fair to Coleman but unfortunately its life and i can see the backlash from the black community and the whole light skin debate coming up but in Coleman's case she to ethnically mixed where her black features are so light that people would question what her ethnic make up us. Why use someone like this for Storm. The character is one of the few black characters that a lot of cretivity went into and not a sidekick. I think it's important to get her look right and her race shouldnt be in question.

I dunno about the Mohawk I quite like long hair on Storm because when the wind radiates of her the effect looks more visually striking.

Yes, it is. If it weren't, these wouldn't have been the first words out of your mouth...

Its sad and pathetic that these two so called black actresses are the best they can do for Storm... I don't care if Coleman can act she is not storm and i know nothing about the this Shipp girl but neither looks to be actually black.

Jeez. They announced the first shortlist in November. How much longer do we have to wait for this?

At least before the filming starts. Anyway, filming is just 3 months away. Its not too far.

I change my mind. I'd prefer that they go with Alexandra Shipp for Storm instead.

I don't know why I'm so against Turner. :(

I've never seen her in anything (and no I don't watch GOT...boo...hiss) but just looking at pictures of her, she annoys the crap out of me.

Jean Grey should not annoy the crap out of me.

For that reason, and for that reason alone, I hope she doesn't get the role. :o

OK I'm saving this gif. LOL

I would much prefer a bob than a mohawk on storm tbh, jean could have a pixie cut.

I want Cyclops to have a spiky short hair or something more stylish compare to his previous hairstyles.

In a perfect world Kerry Washington would be Storm. Sigh alas. :(

I like that to, and I specifically said that she could grow into that more "regal" look. It's just that this movie takes place in the 80's and has a younger version of Storm. This would be the ideal time to do the Mohawk/biker version of Storm. And then she grows out of it over time.
