Apocalypse Young Cyclops/Jean/Storm? Casting Ideas - Part 2

all three are disappointing and on par with the fantastic four casting.

I trust Bryan Singer in his casting choices.

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine
Famke Janssen as Jean Grey
James Marsden as Cyclops
Ian McKellen as Magneto
Patrick Stewart as Professor X
Bryan Cox as Stryker
Halle Berry as Storm
Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler
Peter Dinklage as Bolivar Trask
Evan Peters as Quicksilver

and I'm sure Oscar Isaac will continue his recent tear and flat-out become Apocalypse.

And as a pretty hands-on producer (he wrote the X-Men: First Class' story and was initially set to direct) I'm sure Singer was at least a small part of the discussions that brought Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender into the X-men universe as well. The guy knows how to cast a film -- and has done an exceptional job in casting the X-men universe. Between him and Matthew Vaughn (Vaughn was responsible for Lawrence, McAvoy, Fassbender Holt in X-Men: First Class AND Kelsey Grammer before departing X3: The Last Stand) ... I'd say the X-Men films are some of the best cast superhero films around. A 6'2" Wolverine and all.

I'm not a huge fan of the actor they cast as Scott Summers. And I'm not hearing great reviews about the new Storm, but ....

Let's wait to see how this plays out, as far as casting goes -- they've earned the benefit of the doubt.

singer has been spotty with casting.
jackman, mckellen, stewart, marsden and cumming have been the strongest over all and the rest are decent but not convincing at the end of the day.

the majority of characters have been underwritten, underpowered and underused.

I haven't seen Turner act, Tye should but good but Shipp is a huge question mark.

shipp is not strong.
turner is nothing close to jean grey on any level aside from red hair.

But you have to divorce the writing of the characters from the casting of the characters. They are separate and should be treated as such as the actor can only do what they can with what they're presented with.

My biggest issues in the choices that Singer has made in the past, that he seemed to try to correct a bit in this past film, is losing the international feel of the X-Men. The main issue being him not allowing Daniel Cudmore to use a Russian accent playing Colossus -- which Cudmore had prepared and was ready to do. Now, maybe it wasn't that good -- or Singer was gun shy after Halle's attempt at the African accent went poorly. But he did give us a Nightcrawler speaking in fluent German and with a heavy accent when speaking English.

Oh, are we now retroactively deciding that Singer has always been bad at casting?

Fanboys.

I'm gonna trust Bryan Singer and the filmmakers who actually saw screentests VS someone here who thinks an actor "doesn't look the part".

Yea seriously - the only person I would call questionable is Berry as Storm but other than that i've thought every person Singer has cast fit their part perfectly.

No reason not to. They have more information than we do. They have more experience than we do.

And as I posted above -- their track record shows that they've gotten it right numerous times before.

I never even though Berry was bad it's just that she didnt remind me of the Storm I like from the comics. It was more the way she was written

I dont agree. I dont think Berry, Marsden, Lawrence were good choices. I also dont think the characters have been written very well. (JMO) There are other actors who I felt were wrong as well but i dont want to get into a long discussion about it.

I actually think Marsden as Cykes was the best casting of the franchise outside of Stewart and McKellan but the writing for his character is what was lacking. Not whether not he fit the role because I think he was a good Cyclops from what we got.

I like the new trio. Sheridan should do well as young Scott. Shipp is okay, maybe she gave exactly what they were looking for in a younger Storm. Turner I don't know, but I'm a Singer fan and trust his judgement on casting.

Grandson of Bilbo Baggins is young Cyclops? Okay. I can live with that

Jimmy's jawline, hair and facial structure in the OT looked like someone drew him or something. I honestly couldn't believe how much he looked Scott Summers. In DOFP I sorta couldn't kinda tell due to the angle (or he had just gained weight as a result of growing older) I so wish he had gotten more to do.

But I'm sure we'll get used to Tye real quick, judging by his body of work and that HR article.

I think they made a good decision with Tye, I do like Sophie Turners look and I hope she can pull off Jean im not really aware of she's a bad actress she seems good on GoT im excited to see what she will bring to the table. Shipp as Storm is the only thing concerning me the Aaliyah movie was horrible im just hoping it was the direction and not her, but then she was bland in Drumline as well, sigh I hope she delivers and that Singer Dosent have Storm there just for power displays, just a mute. I'm looking forward to the angles they will use with the characters still hoping for the rebellious Storm after she gets to the mansion.

She has been my top pick for Jean ever since Jean was announced to be in the movie. Before Eh Maybe said she was up for the role. I also commented that he may have been reading these forums and cherry-picking names! I agree, I may have been wrong. I don't know the Aaliya actress and I'm not as excited about Sheridan (Dylan O' Brien!!!) but I realize he is a good actor and is fully able to pull it off.

SOPHIE TURNER!!! YESSSS!

I've only seen one season of GOT so far - the first.

But I have to say, based on that one season, Sophie Turner was by far the weakest link.

I am kind of warming to Alexandra as Storm she has the facial structure for her, yes, she could be darker but overall I can't wait to see her in a white wigs, here's hoping the Manips start soon. :)

I thought she started weak (or maybe just unlikable) but got much better later. She was quite good in this last season - actually pretty subtle and nuanced.

You know, Fox's marketing is getting a little too predictable. Someone else announces some comic related news, Fox jumps in later to try and steal some of the spotlight. Just funny.

Not real familiar with the actors (didn't make it past season 2 of AGOT). But, I don't think there have been too many mistakes with casting, so I look forward to seeing what Singer does with them.

Are you serious? There's like 5 official/unofficial CBM announcements a day.

The ONE night I go out for a significant portion of time.

The. One. Night.

FOX!!!!!! :argh:
