2014/2015 NHL Thread: Hawks!

****ing Blues, **** em.

My playoff predictions

Ottawa versus Montreal - Ottawa in 5 Wrong
Detroit versus Tampa Bay - Tampa in 6 Tampa could still win
Pittsburgh versus NYR - NYR in 5 Spot On
Washington versus NYI - Washington in 7 Could happen
Minnesota versus St Louis - Minnesota in 6 Spot On
Nashville versus Chicago - Chicago in 6 Spot On
Winnipeg versus Anaheim - Winnipeg in 7 Wrong
Calgary versus Vancouver - Calgary in 6 Spot On

Hmmm... not bad... 4 spot ons... possibly 5... though I'm rooting for the Isles... two wrongs, and one possible right

:yay:

I really wish Giordano was back; with him, the Flames could really give the Ducks a run for their money.

I expect the Ducks to sweep again.

Hitckcock is a horrible coach... he needs to go...

The Blues have a Cup contending team, so they get a great regular season record based on their talents, but when it's playoff time, you need a motivator. Players don't get paid for playoff games (aside from contact clauses that may state otherwise)... owners make their profits from home playoff games... so for teams to win 16 games in the playoffs, you need to have your heart set on winning, and that requires a coach who can motivate those players to play at their best.

Clearly, Hitchcock cannot motivate this team.

Would like to see Detroit win tonight so we can get an Original Six series with Montreal. :word:

I agree man. Thing is Hitchcock hasn't been here for 48 years...something wrong with the organization I've watched my whole life, you prolly have too cause you are old, and it just gets more depressing each year. Bengals of the NHL.

Tough to win a game seven with only 11 shots...

Islanders...ugh

was a brutal game to watch. A minor miracle we were even tied that late in the game.

Still havent won a playoff series since my friggen senior year of high school.

yeah... :csad:

On the upside, looks like you'll have a decent team for the next three or four years, so you might get that first playoff series win since '93 soon enough...

I was upset too man, I wish they would have knocked Ovi out and Nassau deserved a better goodbye series, hope your new rink is awesome! Are you gonna buy any seats out of it or anyhing?

I live in Philly now so Brooklyn aint exactly close (an hour and 1/2 by car, hour train ride) but it is closer than Uniondale was. I usually get up to one or two games a year and then get the NHL Gamecenter package to watch the games on the TV/iPad/iPhone. Hope to continue doing that.

My 2nd Round Playoff predictions

Tampa Bay versus Montreal - Tampa in 6
Washington versus NYR - NYR in 6
Minnesota versus Chicago - Chicago in 7
Calgary versus Anaheim - Calgary in 6

Flames over Ducks? Bold.

I too am a Flames fan for the time being, but yeah, Anaheim has too many weapons at their disposal. Maybe if Gio was back.

Tampa versus Montreal - Mtl in 6
Washington versus NYR - NYR in 7
Minnesota versus Chicago - Chicago in 6
Calgary versus Anaheim - Anaheim in 6

Great win for the Caps. Ward is clutch. The first goal by Ovi was ridiculous. No goalie is stopping that. He beat Henrik on that other shot that hit the post as well. Best playoff game I've seem him play in a while.

well it's a big help when you can get away with clearly running guys from behind and boarding them too. Did it all NYI series, and now to the NYR.

Well, the Rangers got a way with a few penalties as well. Holtby got a high stick to the throat and McDonagh outright punched Ovi. They also missed the high stick to Brower. Boyle made a bad play in the corner. With only seconds remaining he has to protect the puck and be aware of the check instead he turned his head away the oncoming check. If he braces for the check and protects the puck time most likely runs out. Instead he tried to gain possession and clear it out, when that simply was not needed.

When Backstrom was coming Boyle was not facing the boards. He also slowed down and tucked his elbow. The problem is the bias NBC announcers make it out to be a 100% blatant hit, when it was partly incidental. They don't call it from both sides. Even with the hit and Boyle out of the play 3 Rangers were watching Ovi while Ward came in all alone. The Rangers had enough men to cover the play, but they had a defensive lapse (or simply figured time was going to run out). The announcers don't even bother to mention that.

It probably is a penalty in the regular season, but they are not going to call that in playoffs especially after all the calls they let go. No way was Backstrom maliciously trying to check Boyle head first into the boards. In the Playoffs every time you're on the boards you're going to get hit.

Either way it's only 1 game and this series will most likely go 6 or 7.

The Habs are absolutely classless... everybody loves them (which just proves my theory that everybody is stupid), and every so often, they do something that demonstrates their level of "classiness"... lol
Throwing your elbow pad at the opposing bench and at their star player, calling out a ref for having a god complex... you just can't make this stuff up...hahahahahaha...

Go Lightning!

well, my team decided to show up and play hockey during the last two periods in Anaheim... hopefully they take this intensity back to CowTown and even this series up @ 2... :o

Sorry Canada, after the last 3 days it looks like it's gonna be 22 now without a Cup winner.

Oh well, at least next year, Edmonton's rebuilding program will finally come to frui ... sorry, I couldn't finish typing that before peeing my pants.
