The Dark Knight 4 "Dark Knight" Scenes to be Shot in IMAX!

It's possible, and some others have mentioned this, that the Joker just wore the makeup up to his neckline and dyed his hair, and nothing else. The mask covered the rest - smile, eyes, etc.

I think this actually may be a better possibility - it would be a greater shock to those in the film and the audience for him to remove the mask and for people to realize it's all been a ruse - he doesn't have brown hair or regular skin, it was only partial to cover himself up.

That's where you should just stop talking. :cmad:

If the Red Hood is part of the canon for Joker's origin, he should be referenced in some way.

Not everything in comic canon is good. In fact, if you want the films to follow every nuance of canon, they'd contradict themselves so much it'd make your head spin.

Is it possible that in that picture with Grumpy, the man in the background is about to shoot the Joker and hits him in the mouth, causing the scars?
Sort of turning on the Joker.

Dude, me too. I'm really pumped for this new film. I haven't felt this excited for a movie in a long time.
Same here, well come to think of it....really since Batman Begins. ;)

The press release says that the four IMAX-filmed scenes will be of a different ratio, meaning the film will expand vertically to fill the screen. As for normal theaters, I assume they'll just cut all of that out but still use the same footage, because they did mention we'd see the enhanced quality in the regular theatrical version.

this could be weird to see on a normal screen. Since the Imax screens are essentially 4:3 or closer to TV ratio, that means we'll get black vertical lines on the left and right edges of the screen in normal theaters to maintain the imax ratio. either that or cut the top and bottom off, and that wouldn't make any sense. we'll see

So what happens?

He looks normal at the start of the movie and robs banks dressed in a clown mask then gets the joker look later?

No, he robs banks with goons dressed as clowns, and wears one himself to hide amongst them. Supposedly he looks just like the Joker underneat that mask.

I'm pretty sure they'll crop the image for conventional theaters and the DVD.

Strong rumors have it that Joker wears a little flesh-colored make-up to blend in with his thugs. Until he inevitabaly double-crosses them and kills them all.

uh...cinematographers don't like to cut their picture away- hence the preference for widescreen formatted DVDs and TVs.

you're saying they'll crop out the top and bottom?

They'll most likely film it in a way that cutting the top and bottom doesn't leave much out. We'll likely miss out on no more than background and whatnot. It'll be the same aspect ratio as the rest of the film, so no one else will notice a thing. But IMAX viewers will get a bit something special.

Why wouldn't they have the whole movie in imax

It's ridiculously expensive. This is the first feature film to even be shot partially in IMAX.

Do not confuse stretching a normal movie onto an IMAX screen with shooting a film specifically for IMAX. There's a difference.

Yep its damn expensive. Thats why nolan said something like "I wish I could shoot the entire thing like that" If he could he would.

Just asking

This is likely correct. Personally, though, I am a little disappointed that I will only be able to see the film as intended during it's theatrical run.

It's not unheard of for a film to be shot in 4:3 and then be cut to 16:9 or wider later. It all depends on how the shots are framed.

I have a question regarding the bank robbery pics. Is Joker already Joker in "TDK?" Or is he a composite of a green-haired albino bank-robber who then gets scarred and becomes The Joker? Or is he just a man who dresses up as a killer clown? Or are we going to see him actually fall into the vat of chemicals?

Or is it "multiple choice." Because I REALLY hope we see the guy fall into the chemicals, otherwise he isn't Joker but a poser. :cmad:
