5.17 - Void (Spoilers) Discussion Thread

Last time I checked Superman can move close to the speed of light. Flash can move at the speed of light and beyond because of him tapping into the Speed Force.

In the 80s revamps, that definately wasnt the case. Superman was depowered bigtime. Like you said, your right about his powers growing as he got older though (like in KC). I need to get Adventures of Superman #463.

^What a joke. So his opinion is not valid here because he's not part of the herd you're a part of?
There is a reason guys like him do get banned, and do get on most posters ignore lists..
Your blindness to that, since you are not a noob around here,
and just calling it belonging to "different herds" has to be a joke..

How can you water down something that was never fully expounded to begin with? If anything, SV is defining the early years of this character for a new generation, not diluting him. But that's JMHO.

It's watered down in my opinion, meaning that by going into a lot more depth in his younger years, it's wearing it more thin, that's all.

As to name-calling on I-Net message boards.... LOL!

Yeah, it's hilarious usually, but when it's not in a joking manner, and the opinion behind it is off-base, then it's another story........:)

Welcome to The Hype; what goes around, comes around. ;)

I would hope so, and it usually does, in anything in life.

I love popcorn.........

I don't really want to be spoiled on the episode, but straight out question: was it any good?

The only weird thing about 'how fast is he' is that the writers conveniently make him slower or faster depending on how its fits the story. I remember him running from Smallville to Metropolis in 'Thirst' before Chloe even finished a word. Yet in Reckoning he didn't manage to save Lana the first time around. He just stood there at the party like an idiot. So if you go by that he should have managed to save Lana after hearing her scream. It should have taken him less than a second to get there right?

Pretty cool idea to get Clark to see his dad.

GG, I thought you were strickly Spidery section.

my immediate reaction was it was kind of a macbeth reference. it wasnt a spot, but it meant the same thing.

In the comics, Luthor fashioned a kryptonite ring that he wore to ward off you-know-who. Eventually the ring caused cancer and Lex had the hand removed to prevent the cancer from spreading (not that it helped :o).

I liked it better than Hypnotic, but that's not really saying much since I didn't like that one much at all...

No. But if youre a hardcore smallville fan, youll find stuff to like in it. Thats usually the case w most of the episodes.

It had some good moments...

I'm surprised no one picked up on the little in-joke at the end about "death" and kryptonite...

I liked that one...

;)

If anything, they're diluting the character with poor told stories, IMHYAO.

Okay its one thing to hate this one episode, but now all of a sudden everyone's downing the show? Is everyone just jumping on a bandwagon or is it just the haters coming out of the woodwork? Because from where I stand there's only been 4 sub-par episodes (Aqua, Thirst, Tomb, Hypnotic) out of 17 episodes in total so far this season. And if you didnt like Void then thats still only 5. Thats pretty good if you ask me...

Pretty much every episode for 2006 has got very mixed results and reactions here and on other boards (Except Cyborg).

Even Reckoning, many thought it sucked because of the way the story was handled. Writing seems to be the show's biggest obstacle. Some ppl praise the episodes for the cast but without a solid script, the show does nothing for me.

Add Vengeance to your list, if you check the threads for that episode...alot thought it was really awful (thanks to the main plot; the lame AoV). I could look past the AoV actress' horrible acting though, but the episode itself was really lame. Without her in the episode, it probably would have been better.

There's always going to be mixed reviews on boards about anything. Where have you been?

Everyone seemed to like Hidden.

Well earlier in the season there wasn't nearly as much complaing. Since Reckoning all ppl do is *****, *****, *****.

It seems to be pretty much par for the course by this time of the season. I can almost remember last season the heavy complaining started after the first block of episodes.

Its almost like people are overly anxious to see the conclusion of what the season is building up to and they get frustrated.

Me, I've loved this season and from here on out its only getting better.

Its mainly because those first couple episodes sucked. Unless your into Green K love potions and Kryptonite plastic surgery.

The fifth season started out good, it just went downhill fast. For episodes are are actually good, the reviews and reactions arent mixed. Pretty much everyone thought Hidden and Cyborg were good episodes. The mixed reviews tend to be reflective of the crappy episodes.

I agree with Tony, there haven't been too many episodes I'd say were crappy except (Tomb, imho the worst episode ever and Thirst)
