7.09 - Gemini - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Don't hold back. I love it when you don't. It's entertaining to read.

So I'm guessing after that episode Lois will become the newest villain on the show. I mean according to people on K-site and TWOP that's how it starts. Pointing a gun at someone and hitting someone over the head possibly leading to injury or death is a sure fire way to start off a villain career. After all that's how Lana became the villain of the show. :whatever:

How I wish the bomb would go off and Chloe would be gone for good. *sigh* But she could probably heal herself by some freaking miracle. Well if it shuts her up for a while so she can't put the third degree on someone for a change that would be good enough for me.

The trailer bored the hell out of me. But it's the early one to remind people Smallville will be on. I expect the real deal next week.

I'm on self imposed exile from TWOP and I'm almost there with Chloe-Site er, I mean K-Site.

I'm afraid to ask how old some of those people are:whatever:

I've been on a self imposed exile from K-site for over a year now.

It seems we are quite a few here. ;)
I used to post on those sites too and got tired of their irrational crap, is just ridiculous. After the ******ed "Chlois theory", now we have "Lois is evil", what's next, evil Kara? Some posters there are so overboard, is just impossible to have a reasonable discussion with them, oh I forgot, Jor-El is so "evil". :whatever:

Back on topic, I'm still wondering what is going on with Clark on "Gemini", there's the Bizarro option, but what about Kal-El? Who knows, but it is possible taking into account the spoiler from "Persona" about Clark feeling so happy with Lana, that he could fly (Kal-El can, same for Bizarro). :wow:

Well there seems to be two different things going on right now. You have people who think Lana should be painted with the same brush as everyone else so they are going apes**t over Lois pointing a gun at someone and apparently taking extreme measures to save Chloe.
And then you have the magic 'chlois' fairies who think this entire season they have set Lois up as a bad person to show the audience she is not the real Lois.
And when you combine these two groups of people you have a bunch fanatics taking a tv show far too seriously and thinking waaaay to much about it.

As for that Clark guy:cwink:
Yeah something is up, they didn't seem to show too much of him in the trailer, probably for a reason.

I know we only got like two shots of Clark in that trailer, but to me, it looked like the real Clark Kent.

^Yes I agree he looks like Clark, but in the official description we have Clark telling Lana it is time to take Lex down, so he needs her to give him all the info she has about Lex's projects, etc. Unless Jor-El took the emoboy out of Clark, it sounds very strange for him to talk like that, plus the episode is full of twists, so something is cooking up. ;)

maybe it really is the real clark and he only wants to take lex down because it affects chloe being a bomb or something.

I never thought I'd say this about any character, and I'm almost ashamed, but I agree about Chloe. Or, rather than kill her off, I wish she'd just be phased out now, if possible. I dont know, I just dont get the character at all anymore, much as I really have tried to like her. :(

The trailer didn't have enough Clark. :( But I am looking forward to this maybe being a good episode for Lois. There's been so little of her this season.

why do people have to hate one girl because they like another?

I dont know actually, but that does seem to be a common infliction in this fandom. FTR, I dont consider myself as hating one character *because* I like another. Chloe's character has just been bothering me for a while now, entirely to do with her own (de)merits, not really anything to do with another character. And it is sad, because I dont want to be someone who hates *any* character, but I am finding myself growing a strong dislike for Chloe ever since season 6.

Sure Lana is my fave female. Everyone knows it. But that's not the reason why I don't like Chloe. I've never really liked Chloe. Sometimes I find her tolerable at most. And it's only based on the kind of girl/woman she is. I can't identify myself with her at all. On most accounts.

I've never been a Lois fan. And Smallville so far hasn't changed that at all. The only Lois Lane version I have ever liked was Teri Hatcher's. And that was only after she got over her attitude issues. Don't get me wrong I admire the ambition the woman has for her work and how she does it. But her female characteristics drive me bonkers. In real life I would slap a girl/woman around for behaving like she does sometimes.

I guess in the end it all comes down to who you can most identify with IMO.

I think that's a great and very applicable question, especially in this fandom, but I don't think it's always that black and white either.

That's certainly the big MarySue part of why we like certain characters (even male ones) over others. You can either identify with characteristics you see in them or sometimes just their situations. Sometimes it's more the opposite, seeing something in them that you wish you were more like. And of course there's always the attraction factor.

I don't *think* that I dislike Chloe just because I like Lana, because I love Lois. I didn't care for her when she was first introduced, she was too much of a one-note harsh characters, but they've done a wonderful job of fleshing her out and making her a more complex and lovable woman since then. Lois has a lot more traits that I respect - even if she is still feeling her way there on a few of them, she's still got this strong and honest "core" that I really admire. Chloe's role in this show has gone the exact opposite of what I think it should have, especially now that we have Lois present and accounted for. I just don't find Chloe to be as nice or honest a person as she thinks she is, and I'm not overly fond of how she treats Clark, let alone anyone else. Of the three women on this show, she is definitely the last one I'd be friends with.
Almost forgot about Kara - I like Kara a lot too, her 'faults' are all age and maturity related, IMO, but Clark will help her learn and grow past that, hopefully.

I don't wish for them to kill her off, it would be VERY sad if they did since she is a one of the leads on this show at this point, and she is Clark's best friend. But honestly, I'd be fine with them moving her away and increasing Lois' role as the investigative reporter on this show, keeping Lana as the love interest/emotional support (that's evolving into something different - more honest, with increasing independence, and a more mature outlook).

*okay, so a bit of a morning coffee ramble. Sorry. :O But hey, we're on hiatus anyway, right?

I'll admit that I'm not a fan of Chloe. I have never been nor will I be a fan of that character. I can tolerate her, but I don't look forward to her scenes very much. The reason for not liking her has nothing to do with liking other characters. I just can't stand that every other sentence out of her mouth is some sort of pop culture reference (who, in the real world talks like that?) or that she feels she has some right over others about knowing Clark's secret. I don't like that she can basically hack into any government computer and get away with it or that she saves Clark in almost every other episode. I don't wish her to die, but I do hope she becomes less involved in the main storyline with Clark and maybe eventually gets phased out. She is very annoying, IMO.

but I do like scenes with her and Lex. He always has some little comment about her that is half mean but half true. I love that.

I do too! I wish they'd explored the Chloe/Lex dynamic a lot more than they have.

My favorite SV fanvid is a Chloe/Lex one, believe it or not. :)

If Chloe was ever on the dark side with lex, they would be unstoppable. They both have this drive to find the truth and with Lex's money and power and Chloe's ability to hack into anything and get away with it, Clark would have a lot on his plate. lol

^I agree with your comments about Chloe, she's very annoying to say the least. Why would you like a character that doesn't respect the privacy of people, lectures them with her "morals" and hacks information from computers? She's so limited, lame and hypocrite. Regarding the other females, Lois is more active, even Lana is more dynamic now than Chloe, and Kara, well, she's the supergirl next door. ;)

i guess I just noticed people, and not necessarily here that wish one female character harm or death tend to favor another female character. I could be completely wrong since I don't read every post on here, but thats just an impression I get. There are characters I don't like, but I definitely don't want anyone gone, they're all there for a reason, and I think getting rid of any of them would change the show in some way.

i've always identified with Clark the most, so maybe its easier? I don't know, but interesting discussion:)

why do people have to hate one girl because they like another?

I think for a lot of people it comes down to who they want to see Clark paired up with and the other girls are competition.

I don't want to see Chloe and Clark paired up in a romantic way so that is obviously not the reason for me. I like her role as his partner and how their chemistry works really well, this extreme trust and loyalty they have towards each other. I think she is a great character and I know a lot of people don't like her because she isn't canon, well, neither is Lionel and he is still awesome. But then again, I'm a Batman girl, not a Superman one so I really don't care about canon that much.

I guess the reason I don't like Lana is because in the early seasons, there seemed to be far too much focus on her character and I really don't identify with her at all so it really made me bored to watch it. I wanted more about the characters I liked but lately I do feel bad for Lana fans, her character seems to have been just as kicked around in the last few seasons as Chloe and while I still don't care about character, I can imagine how bad it must be to have to watch that.

Lois... I don't like her Smallville version, I have many problems with the way she was introduced to the show, I never got the sense like she belongs in Smallville but then again, I was never a Lois fan in general, maybe because like I said, I was never a Superman girl and I don't get what is so epic about her.

I love Chloe and I can identify with her character, yes but I also think her character has grown so much through the seasons and sometimes it does pisses me off how they mistreat or misuse her but me liking her has nothing to do with why I don't like Lana and Lois, she is just more interesting to me. And no, I don't think she is Lois or she should be, she is Chloe. Period.

Getting back to Gemini... :D

Craig had this to say about the "twist" in the episode. He doesn't reveal anything specific, but the more I read about this ep, the more I can't wait to see it...

Craig said:
Sometimes it's not our place to ruin surprises. I'm lucky I get away with revealing as much as I do. If you find that you do not agree, that is your choice.... that's the nature of a TV show, no one will agree 100%.

I know it's something that excited me, and if it's ruined then the episode itself will be completely ruined. I'm not in the business of ruining episodes. Generally if I think something is stupid or people will hate it I keep completely quiet (hello, Grulian).

Will there be some people unhappy with the specific "twist?" Yes. I think the TWOP crowd will be much more on the happy side than unhappy.

Even a close friend has gone so far as to say "Craig doesn't know what the fans want," so maybe I'm completely off. But when a "twist" is something I was even specifically asked to please not spoil - I am going to respect that request. The only other alternative is me spoiling willynilly and being cut off entirely, and I don't think that would help any of us.
If knowing the "twist" will ruin the entire episode, it's gotta be something relatively big. Perhaps the whole ep is a dream sequence? We last left Clark about ready to receive a smackdown from Jor-El at the FOS.

^That really depresses me.

I'm having a hard time being excited at this point, which is highly unusual for me. To be honest, it sucks. I'd rather he hadn't said anything at all.

Wait! Why?????? It sounds awesome. A twist that - if you know it - could ruin the whole episode? That sounds pretty big - like Reckoning kinda big.

Y'all know I'm a spoiler ho in the biggest baddest way, but I don't think I want to know this time. I think I really want to be surprised.

I'm sure it's big, but if it's something that's going to make Craig and the TWOP ilk happy, then it's most likely NOT going to make me happy.

Big things that make me unhappy depress me.

I'm a spoiler ho' too, and I really hope this one leaks. I'd prefer not to be blindsided.

Hmmmm..... something the TWOP would like?

How about after Clark saves Jimmy and Chloe from the elevator, Clark and Chloe shares a kiss, with Clark saying, "Chloe I have feelings for you." At the end of the episode, you see Clark visit Bizarro in some prison that looks like a fortress only to reveal that Jor-el switched Clark and Bizarro and Bizarro is running wild with Clark locked up away for his punishment....

Why? He didn't say what the twist was, it may not be what you think at all.
