8.15 - Infamous - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I concur. I loved the scene in the barn between Clark and Lois, probably the most powerful scene between those two yet. Just the way Lois expressed how important Clark was to her and Clark telling Lois that she is special...just a perfect scene! I didn't see any angst between them like Clana, this is the beginning of Superman/CK/Lois Lane dynamic!

Absolutely No Angst. Just the journey towards their epic legendary love story .

LOIS LANE
& CLARK KENT
: From total Strangers... To Rivals... To Partners... To Secret Friends... To Best Friends... To More than just friends... To Super Romantic Loves... To finally Eternal Soulmates ... :super:

The episode was pretty mew As far as i'm concerned. Clark turning back time because he messed up thus changing everyones memory etc. That stuff was pretty tired though I was glad to see Davis and Lois again after dealing with Clana yet again. However their storyline didn't move that far so it was pretty much a filler episode.

Btw Clark was a major jerk for not showing up whether he cares for her or not. You at least let her know ahead of time that you can't make it. :whatever:. Gosh, CLark should told me , I know a few guys who'd jump at the chance of coffee with her.Lol.:cwink:.

Lois should never go on hiatus from the show again. This episode was just back to what was working. Big Foreshadowing on the future of Superman and the great chemistry and execution of Lois and Clark's relationship. I never cared about Clark and Lana as much as Lois and Clark. I don't know if it's the writing or the actors or just that Lana got annoying at times, but all I know is Lois and Clark work on this show, big time.

I agree. Lois just brings that spark...that 'it' factor, that the show has been lacking the past 5 episodes.

Tonights epi was awesome. Everything was on point, esp. Clois.

And I can't remember the last time I really wanted the villian to die on Smallville...I just HATED Linda Lake. :cmad:

The angst came in that final scene at the coffe shop. Couldn't he go there for a cup of coffee would it have been that hard, no they had to play up some tension between the 2. IF they go the direction of Clois next season we are going to get the Clark scared to tell her his secret and running away like we got with Clana for 6 seasons.

Why not make them have a chat in the barn for 2 minutes before he reverses time. What exactly does "you are special" mean. To me it comes accross as the producers way to not show Clark's hand so fans of other ships can fanwank it to mean what they want. They could have had them hash out there feeling then Clark reverse time, then the Lois and Clark scene at the Daily Planet could have been the final scene of the episode(get rid of a coffee scene, which is roughly the amount of time they use for my proposed barn scene)

The "you are special" line was an indication that Clark has feelings for Lois. Clark knows Lois can handle his secret, he knows he can trust her, but the problem is that the fact that he went through the same thing with Lana and look where that ended up! Clark is struggling with telling Lois again because he doesn't want to make that same mistake. It may seem like just coffee, but to him, it's date and he's not ready for that yet. I'd rather have Clark be a single man for a while and re-evaluate his love life than pursue Lois so fast, after the whole Lana arc, it's too soon.

^ AgentPat, after tonight's episode.

That was such a great episode. Dialog had a few flaky moments, and there was some odd camera crops, but overall a very entertaining episode indeed.

I wish there was a little more elaboration between Lois and Clark in the barn scene on the "you're special" angle, but I agree with SV Fan in that it's the writer's way of pandering to all ships. S'kay, I can deal with that. I also agree with RagingTempest and MellyM in that they shouldn't have Clark jumping into another relationship so soon after the SuperLana debacle. It comes off, mmmm... not right. Besides, there's a lot to be said for nurturing this relationship, slooooowly. Keeps the fans chomping at the bit for more. :D

Can't wait till next week.

Exactly Well said ... I couldn't have said it better .

This episode established that both Lane & Kent have strong feelings for each other that has truly developed into something they both can't explain . And at this point in time are not ready to purse as of yet .

Now Lois Lane will bury herself in her work as reporter until a certain Flyboy in a Red cape & Blue tights makes his public debut .

And Clark will continue to be the superhero secretly saving the day while not only trying to prevent his secret Identity from being discovered, but also keeping it from Lois as well as his true feelings he has for her.

TPTB have laid the foundation for the Classic "Love Triangle of Two" - Lois Lane, Superman & Clark Kent .

Well Clark destroying the Legion ring was right. He can't have the option of going back in time and fixing whatever mistake he thinks should be undone. Hes going to be Superman, not God. But thats not going to stop the Legion from visiting him from time to time.

Lois/Superman/Clark triangle could very well be coming next year. But it remains to be seen how they are going to pull it off. Unless they plan on mind-wiping Lois of what Clark looks like, and have Clark wear glasses when hes around Lois. And don't when hes saving people

Continuity is always welcomed. From Linda Lake, to the Barn conversation.

I did felt Lois was viewed as an idiot for not knowing Clark was the Red/Blue Blur. As she said it herself, "How did I not figure this out, when I even lived with you" Wished Clark said something like Im good at keeping secrets, knowing that Chloe and Lana took a while to figure it out.

Very good episode, 8.5 out of a 10. The writers really know what to do with Clark and Lois. Again there's another season, their will be some rocky times at first. And it is the CW which is based on nothing but relationships.

Some of you are planning for next season. Has it been confirmed that there will be a season 9?

I don't want to seem mean spirited but God looking at Tori Spelling's face was painful.

3rd episode in a row that Clark looks like an idiot

First he needs Mama Chloe to tell him what to do
Secondly Lois has to save him from the Kryptonite
Thirdly he needs to grow a pair of balls, it's a fricken cup of coffee for god's sake

I agree with Mikelus, alot of the Clois stuff tonight seemed like recycled Clana

Can't this show just write Clark to look like a smart, happy person without many hangups.

Noooo Chlark 4eva! lol.

what do you know? KK written off again... the show returns to goodness... go figure

That ending was heartbreaking. Poor Lois. I wish one (or both) would just admit their goddamn feelings.
Pretty cool seeing some of the Doomsday transformation.

Totally dug the episode.

One thing that I wish someone had pointed out was that Lois is the first person Clark willingly told his secret to. Lois looked disappointed to learn that Lana and Chloe already knew his secret. What he should have told her, though, is that he never actually wanted to tell any of them who he really was.

Pete, Lana, Chloe, Lionel all figured out his secret on their own and Clark had to own up to it. He never sought out Lana or Chloe and said, "Hey, I'm Superman by the way." Lois is the only one he did that with. Which is how I interpreted the "you are special" line.

Very good point. I hadn't thought of that but you're right

Also, did anyone notice people in the crowd holding up Shepard Fairey-inspired Clark Kent HOPE posters?

Heh.

People throw around the "angst" word far too much, without seeming to really know what it means. Clark not having coffee with Lois isnt "angst." Half the point of the first half of the episode was to show that neither of them are comfortable with the feelings they have for each other and he wont really be until he comes clean with Lois, which he now hasnt quite figured out to do yet since as we heard in conversation wth Chloe, he's just now ralized he'll need a secondary persona to come out to the public with. Obviously just coming out isnt going to work for the rest of the World even if it seemingly worked for Lois.

Angst is what Clark had with Lana in the early years of the show. This is not that. It's far more of an adult relatiionship that Clark has with Lois now. He's not not being with her because he's afraid of her knowing his secret and he feels sorry for himself. He's not with her because he cant be and still help the people of the world (the whole point of the epsiode). He hasnt formulated the secondary "Superman" persona yet, which is what will allow him to have the ability to help the world and be with her.

It's sort of ironic when you think about it, The World is in so dire need of help from him, yet they wont let Clark help them if they know too much about him. In Smallville-verse, at least according to this ep, Clark is almost forced to create Superman not to protect himself so much as it is so he can actually protect everyone else unhindered.

BTW I loved all of the little in jokes last night when people were asking Lois about how she couldnt have known since she sits right across from him everyday. :)

Not really. Both of the times he told Lana, it was his choice. In Reckoning, he took her to the FOS and even proposed. It may have been wiped away, but it was a choice he did make at one time.

And in Phantom, he also told her of his abilities - before she admitted that she already "knew" he was "meteor-infected." Then he filled her in on the whole alien thing.

Chloe found out because of Alicia, then Clark filled her in on the alien angle.

All that said - top notch episode last night. It's nice to see Lois again, I really got a kick out of her beat-down of Linda Lake.

Mostly, I really enjoyed seeing Clark again. I thoroughly enjoy every minute he's on the screen. I love the confidence they have given him in this later season. I squee'd to see him actually talking to Martha on the phone.

Gotta give Tori the props due - she did a bang-up job as a reprehensible Linda Lake.

I even enjoyed the Davis/Chloe stuff... Look at me being all mellow and SV fannish in my old age... ;)

That was awful, bad science, bad time travel theory (going back and changing history like that is a paradox) and the ending made Clark look like a dilweed. Its episodes like this that reinforce the BDA thing. Also I got second hand embarassment from the crowd hero worshipping clark. And what's with not waiting until Lo finished her sentence. He was in that much of a rush or does he consider he words irrelevent?

I love last night's episode. All the clois scenes, clark getting shot at by the gov't, the crowd reaction to clark, etc...loved it all. The only thing that made me cringe was Tom's acting in the opening. It was pretty bad. He had a monotone voice when talking to Linda all throughout the opening. His acting got better as the episode went on, but he seemed off in that opening scene. Other than that, I loved it. Definitely in my top 5 of the season.

Last night's episode was ok, but it got kinda dragged a bit for me. By the end, when Clark couldnt even wait a second to hear what Lois was saying, i rolled my eyes at him :whatever:

I'm also still wondering how the heck Lois isnt gonna figure out who Superman is, because she's seen Clark without his glasses since she met him. In my opinion, THIS season was the right time to bring Lois to this show, not when they did. That's my main gripe with Smallville :hehe:

Boo Hoo :whatever:

Anyway did anyone catch the STM refference?. When lois brought up Peter Pan & then said that Clark was the opposite?. :oldrazz:

"Peter Pan flew with children Lois, in a fairy tale"

Atleast i think that was supposed to be a nod to STM?
