As for who exactly Is returning let's say It's pretty much a done deal Patrick Stewert will be back after earlier comments.My Instincts tell me Xavier will
fill the Rachel role and be key to time travel plot.Besides that Ian Mckellan visiting the set of Mocking Bird line strongly hints at him returning.And we all
know Hugh jackman will play some role In this film as Wolverine possibly as the time traveler.

After that the most likely person to return Is Halle Berry.

Now comes questiong will they use Kitty or Rogue.My feeling Is It will only be one.DOes Bryan want to use any actors who weren't In his films(X-Men,X2,first Class) Then there Is question If ellen Page Is even Intrested In coming back(although her contract mor multiple films she signed when agreeing to do Last Stand may still have 1 film left.Shawn Ashmore hinted his contract was still valid) If Filming begins In april or May you can't rule out Anna Paquin returning.Anna has said she would be up for returning as Rogue.Imagne seeing Wolverine and Rogue working together as Team at begining to help free the other surviving mutants at internment camp.

Then I think we have possibilty of eather Colossus or Iceman.I don't think we will get both.My vote would be on Colossus.But If Kitty Is left out for Rogue
Iceman Is possibilty.

Inless Singer can convince Fox to let him through out the Last Stand we won't get Cyclops or Jean.

I also think there Is possibilty of a appearance by Rebecca Romijn.It might be at Internment camp.If Magneto sacrifices himself against sentinles after being free of collars Mystique might refuse to leave his side.

So to sum up here Is what I think we are looking at

Xavier
Magneto
Storm
Wolverine
Kitty or Rogue
Colossus or Iceman
possibly Mystique.

Also remember while people assume Famke Janssen as jean will show up alive many thought Liem Neeson would be showing up In Cameo In flashback In

If they wanted to bring her back, they could have X1,2 and 3 be normal non DOFP continuity. So when the Alt changing event happens it changes X1,2 and 3's history. That way the Alt Future doesnt come from X3 continuity. Basically any character could come back that way I guess, if they wanted them to.

They can do DoFP with FC cast and brief appearances by OT cast, then do an official proper X-Men 4 movie with the OT cast in the future resisting the Sentinels and what happened after the time traveler went back in time.

I completely agree. Claremont deliberately chose the characters for the future part of Dofp in the comics because each served an important role in the story. I guess roles could be switched but I don't see why they should be when all of the mutants in the comic (Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Magneto, Kate Pryde) all appear in the trilogy and would be alive during the future even in the movie-verse.

In fact the only character I feel they may need to switch would be the time traveller so it linked in with how they adapted the story aside from that. I don't see why they should change. I mean it would be a homage to the comics. especially if they add some of the iconic moments from that comic e.g. wolverine's demise.
