It's not that much of a stretch. Atwell and Cooper were both highly regarded in Cap 1, we get to see the origins of SHIELD, and in a time period that doesn't normaly get a lot of media spotlight, 8 eps isn't that much of a commitment and having something to fill in when your other show goes on hiatus and you have no movies coming out nearby is a great way to keep the brand in peoples minds. It's like a little January mini-event. Plus it has a kick ass female lead, which a lot of people consider important.

QFT.

The creative team behind it is only increasing my stratospheric levels of hype for the project too.

ETA: what TalismanRing said ;)

BTW, don't think it got posted here, but looks like Peggy will be showing up again in Episode 8 of Agents of SHIELD on November 18 according to the episode cast list Marvel put out

Apparently Costa Ronin will be playing Anton Vanko, Ivan Vanko(Whiplash)'s father.
And I just did a comparison to the actor who played Vanko in Iron Man 2 and the actor and his supposed look for Agent Carter and it matches up pretty well.

Peggy Carter does not have time for your ****.

Also

Let's face it. I invented it, so it works.

Much like your little flying car at the Expo, Stark?

Whoops! Too soon?

Now this is what Agents of Shield should of been. I can't wait!

I don't watch AOS but I'm looking forward to this. It looks interesting and this Stark I actually like unlike his son.

It'll be nice watching this knowing that many of Hayley's punches and kicks actually made contact with the actor, albeit accidentally. I hope they kept them in the show for realism.

Not going to say that it won't be better but I think it's a bit much to judge a show off of a tidbit.

It looks amazing! I can't wait to watch this.

I think people will be very harsh on it like they were with agents of shield but who cares? I will love it

Eh, I could have guessed it would be better a month ago simply by the talent on board. With Joe Johnston and the Russos directing some episodes, Markus and McFeely writing, Kevin Feige involved, and 8 episodes to prevent wheel spinning, it would have to fail spectacularly to not be better than AoS(and I like that show).

I can almost guarantee that half way through the season something will happen that makes us go "OH S**T" sort of like the HYDRA take over in AoS. Even if it just stayed consistent with the quality of that one clip we saw without raising the bar it would still be better than AoS.

I mean, it looks better than AoS. I know its just the trailer, but that's my point it looks better than the trailer for AoS did.

I also like the period theme, for three reasons:
1. it negates any universe sharing expectations
2. it negates any futuristic technology requirements (even adds a bit o' the ol' steampunkishness)
3. it actually gives the show an interesting leg to stand on.

I do hope Howard Stark is in more than a couple episodes... (is that too much to hope for already? :/)

I like that Vanko and Jarvis are characters. And I like the strong female lead. Atwell is a badass.

The period also just brings a certain amount of swashbucklingness. There's something just so fun about having a Bourne-style battle in a 1950s kitchen. There's something really fun about throwing a guy through a window and him landing in a 1940s alley. It's just so much more of an adventure than the current day.

i agree . Love that time period. Like in Mob City.

I love the idea of a dedicated Marvel hour on network TV, and the limited series approach to AC gives it many of the advantages of the Netflix shows - lower dependence on weekly ratings, less filler, and one storyline throughout the series.
And the period setting makes it less dependent on the goings on in the MCU.

I'm wondering if Marvel will use this approach to bring Runaways to ABC.

The cars and gadgets are pretty awesome too.

Plus hats! Men wear cool hats instead of crappy baseball caps all the time.

That footage looks good but I'm looking forward to footage from the Russo directed episodes and the Joe Johnston directed episode the most.

What episode was this pulled from?
Looked good but I wonder why they decided to show that scene.
Established that neither Stark or Jarvis would be trying to fondue her is all I got.
Oh and that the Jarvis actor seems like another great British talent.

All the footage we've seen has been from the first episode(considering they only starting filming the 2nd after the footage was shown at NYCC), and the first was directed by Louis D'Esposito who did the One Shot.

Does it have to be ABC?

No, but I think Runaways has the potential to bring in the type of broad audience that ABC is looking for. Though ABC may bring back 8 more episodes of AC if it holds or improves upon the AOS ratings, I like the idea of Marvel and ABC using the network "mini-series" approach as a tryout. Sort of like the "One-Shots", but on a much larger scale.

I'm really glad it's only 8 episode long. It's a far better approach to their proprieties than a overlong tv series with filler episodes.
