Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - S2E1 "Shadows"

The premiere was a really good episode. I have no complaints; I liked the opening, the intro to the Absorbing Man ( esp since he's popped up in the Thor Masterworks volume I am reading,) the acquisition of a Quinjet, and a whole lot more. I do not have any complaints, but hope they do not try to turn Ward into a good guy. I like the whole Hannibal Lecter setup they have with him, right now.

I think they are referring to

Not going to lie... when I saw that, I started hearing the opening bars of Somebody That I Used To Know.

But yeah, that's just basic camouflage. Same reason soldiers wear mottled color patterns and paint their face in the field.

When you have a concrete wall, and then put more concrete in front of it, it does not become see through. He should have been spotted by SHIELD when he was hiding as part of a concrete wall.

He absorbed the exact texture of the wall behind him, so all the little striations and dents were copied from what was behind him. While he stood in front of it, it appeared he was part of the wall. In the same way that people can paint a person and make them seem almost "invisible" by painting them the exact texture of the surface they're standing in front of.

Like was previously pointed out if you want to get nit-picky about it he was glass before concrete so he could have waited until they passed to absorb the concrete. But I took it as he was standing in a dark warehouse standing still blending in. Under those conditions not being focused on that spot 99% of people would not see him. There are plenty of YouTube videos out there of real people doing the exact some thing to scare people. The brain can be fooled quite easily

Who exactly is paying the bills for this new SHIELD?

Probably secret "black budget" accounts Fury stocked away as a contingency, as part of the Playground assets. Don't forget that they are also a relatively small operation at the moment; assuming the Playground was well-stocked, they could likely run off of existing equipment stockpiles for quite a while.

So..............that metal object.................think it's one of the infinity gems? I mean, there's suppose to be 6 of them right but we only have seen 2 or 3 of them right?

I strongly doubt it, not with the alien ( Kree? ) symbology on the side. Its probably Kree technology of some form.

Yes but who goes to the supermarket every week? Or does the cleaning? Have they got a special Shield hairdresser?

Or are these points just not important to the story, so the writers will give them whatever they need?

Not sure if this is something you're really concerned about and being pedantic or attempting to be funny.

I really enjoyed the season premiere. There was a real sense of danger and mystery, with the stakes very high now that Coulson and his teammates have to balance fighting bad guys with building a new and more stable S.H.I.E.L.D.

I enjoyed the dialogue between Coulson and Talbot, and I thought the opening with Agent Carter was excellent. Creel was used really well; they gave an excellent demonstration of his absorbing powers and his violent personality. The scene between Ward and Skye was well-done also.

I can't wait to see how Coulson handles these new recruits, and how they're going to deal with this new Hydra faction headed by Whitehall.

Was just a little joke. It doesn't really matter where the money comes from unless the writers make it part of the story.

It's all handled by Koenig's "brothers". :cwink:

That's reasonable. I forget that "pitch black" in a movie and in real life are different things. We have to have enough lighting to see even though the characters have to be virtually blinded by darkness...so he could have just been camouflaged enough and hidden in the dark.

Again, agree completely with this. People really need to stop whining about what is a totally non-controversial opinion: the first half of last season wasnt very good. get over it.

I dont agree. I thought it was very good. Others do too. Get over it. :)

Some liked it, some didnt...but its not fair to accuse those who didnt like it as people just watching so they have something to complain about. We all love Marvel. We all want to be entertained. We are all watching EVERYTHING that this universe offers, even if it doesn't entertain us, because we hope that it will improve or at least have some impact on the rest of the universe.

Anyone notice the Kree in the case back in the 40s?

Dont get me wrong, im not calling those who didnt stupid, or haters, or trolls, nor do i consider that i have higher standards than them in terms of quality. But this is the year 2014. We have this little thing called history behind us, and while cinema is just over 100 years old, other arts arent. Public success has never been a valid indicator of the works quality. Nor reviews. So there is no truth to face here. We cool? :)

And as for non-controversial opinions... The pilot received RAVE reviews (i read them) and it was named the best new pilot by critics, while tons of people said it was mediocre or underwhelming. Again, doesnt proove anything qulity wise, but there you have some controversy.

I find posts with both "whining" and "get over it" in them so friggin grating and it's not like I disagree with the overall opinion. It's just so over used.

I know. But sometimes you need to use certain formulas to get your point quicker and better to the other person. Even If we all were able to write like Melville... internet would still be a death trap for misscomunication. Some of it is avoidable, but some formulas are necesay sometimes.

I liked the episode, but didn't love it
enjoyed the new status quo and some of the character interactions
but it had too many cliched moments for me to say the episode was any better than "good"

Well then, finally watched it Hulu+...

Loved it. Thought it was a great extension of where AoS left off last season. Absorbing Man, Creel, Hartley and her band of mercenaries were really well-integrated with the rest of the team.

There will be few moments that gutted me more than Fitz's at the end. Gutted, ugly cried over it. Damn, Marvel.

I really hope the ratings-plus-7 days or whatever go up for the show. I don't have cable or a Comcast TV box, have never been a Nielsen family but I watch and rewatch this on Hulu+. Nielsens are such an outdated way of measuring TV viewing habits.

Most people didn't like the first half of season 1. That's why the ratings were cut in half.

I watch it and enjoy it. It has gotten better, but it could still be so much better. And yes it is disappointing and I will complain a bit. But at the end of the day I will still watch it and enjoy it.

I'm assuming that it's the same blue alien, hence why we got a quick peek at it.
