Supergirl All About The Ratings!!!!!! - Part 1

DVR (Live+7) numbers for the week of October 29th gave "Ahimsa" a 75% gain in the demo and a 79% gain in total viewers. Here are the CW rankings for that week (Riverdale and All-American took the week off for Halloween):

1.) The Flash - 1.2 demo; 3.14mil total viewers
2.) Supernatural - .7 demo; 2.21mil total viewers
3.) Supergirl - .7 demo; 2.20mil total viewers
4.) Arrow - .7 demo; 2.04mil total viewers
5.) Charmed - .7 demo; 1.89mil total viewers
6.) Legends of Tomorrow - .6 demo; 1.82mil total viewers
7.) Legacies - .6 demo; 1.79mil total viewers
8.) Black Lightning - .6 demo; 1.74mil total viewers
9.) Dynasty - .2 demo; 0.90mil total viewers
10.) Crazy Ex-Girlfriend - .2 demo; 0.66mil total viewers

SG's finals this week were .33 in the demo, 1.134mil in viewership. So yeah, slight uptick in the former, downtick in the latter.

Numbers for last night's Supergirl were 0.3 and 1.21 million.

The prelims, not finals. Worth noting, the prelim in the demo is actually .34, which, if it holds, would be another slight uptick for the show from last week. Plus an uptick in viewership as well, so hopefully they hold.

Anyhoo, DVR numbers are in for the week of "Parasite Lost," which saw a great 133% gain in the demo and an 84% gain in viewership, and actually managed to beat Supernatural in the demo for once (as did Arrow). Here are the CW Live+7 rankings that week of Nov. 5th (Flash and Black Lightning took the week off for election coverage):

1.) Riverdale - .9 demo; 2.53mil total viewers
2.) Supergirl - .7 demo; 2.13mil total viewers
3.) Arrow - .7 demo; 1.98mil total viewers
4.) Supernatural - .6 demo; 2.21mil total viewers
5.) Charmed - .6 demo; 1.82mil total viewers
6.) Legends of Tomorrow - .6 demo; 1.79mil total viewers
7.) Legacies - .6 demo; 1.75mil total viewers
8.) All-American - .5 demo; 1.17mil total viewers
9.) Dynasty - .2 demo; 0.87mil total viewers
10.) Crazy Ex-Girlfriend - .2 demo; 0.58mil total viewers

Nice to see Supergirl benefitting from the absence of Flash and Black Lightning during Election week. Even with their absences, Legends still hasn’t hit the Top 5.

Prelims for last night: .4 demo, 1.26mil total live viewers. Great numbers if they hold.

The network must be quite pleased with the ratings the show has gotten on its new night. The expectation was probably .3 to .4 in the demo and its gotten that or better every week so far. Supergirl has also done its job as lead in for Charmed, lots of viewers are sticking around.

Looking ahead after the crossover I’ve heard the show will return on January 20th so football season will be almost over. There’s a conference championship on January 20th so that a big one. January 27th is the Pro Bowl which will be over before the show airs that night. The Super Bowl is February 3rd and I’m 100% sure CW won’t air a new episode that night. No more Football and DWTS Jr ending should provide a ratings opportunity.

Supergirl has been holding steady since they were moved to Sunday nights.

Prelims held - .4 demo, 1.26mil live viewers. Best in the demo since the first week of November, best viewership since October.

DVR numbers for "Call to Action" saw another great 133% gain in the demo and 87% gain in viewership. CW's Live+7 ratings for the week of Nov. 12th:

1.) The Flash - 1.3 demo; 3.23mil total viewers
2.) Riverdale - .9 demo; 2.26mil total viewers
3.) Supernatural - .8 demo; 2.34mil total viewers
4.) Supergirl - .7 demo; 2.12mil total viewers
5.) Arrow - .7 demo; 2.10mil total viewers
6.) Charmed - .6 demo; 1.84mil total viewers
7.) Legends of Tomorrow - .6 demo; 1.78mil total viewers
8.) Legacies - .6 demo; 1.74mil total viewers
9.) Black Lightning - .5 demo; 1.59mil total viewers
10.) All-American - .4 demo; 1.12mil total viewers
11.) Dynasty - .3 demo; 0.90mil total viewers
12.) Crazy Ex-Girlfriend - .3 demo; 0.62mil total viewers

Funny thing about last night's crossover ratings - while they were obviously much better than the average SG ep, they were NOT better than the average Flash episode. The prelims have it at a .64 in the demo and 1.79mil live viewers. Which is LOWER than The Flash's average this year on Tuesdays. And that's with a crossover boost. Just goes to show how tough this Sunday night slot is, and makes it seem rather impressive that SG has essentially only lost one-tenth in the demos for her regular eps with this move. It'll be interesting to see what the SG crossover ep will get on Tuesday.

DVR ratings for Thanksgiving week are in. "Rather the Fallen Angel" got yet again a great 133% gain in the demo and an 82% gain in total viewers. Here's the CW rankings for the week of Nov. 19th (all the shows on the network's Wed-Friday line-ups took the week off for the holiday):

1.) The Flash - 1.3 demo; 3.27mil total viewers
2.) Supergirl - .7 demo; 2.11mil total viewers
3.) Charmed - .6 demo; 1.83mil total viewers
4.) Arrow - .6 demo; 1.81mil total viewers
5.) Black Lightning - .6 demo; 1.78mil total viewers
6.) Legends of Tomorrow - .6 demo; 1.75mil total viewers

Interesting to note, Arrow has soundly pulled ahead of SG in the demo when it comes to live-viewing this season, but SG stays on top in the Live+7 charts. So more (in the demo) watch Arrow live, but more watch SG overall.

Flash did a 0.7 in Supergirl's slot. That's no higher than last week's normal episode.

Arrow did a 0.8 last night in its normal slot.

Sunday night is the worst possible slot for Flash. It's by far the most male-skewing show the CW has, coming in at 56% male.

Last season Supergirl was over 50% male as well, but with the move to Sunday night this season it's down to 46% male.

The NFL is just too big with the male demographic.

0.7 for Supergirl in Flash's slot last night.

Much like last year, the effect of the crossover was zero for Flash but pronounced for Arrow and Supergirl.

Ratings and viewership for last night was 0.8 and 2.13 million viewers making Supergirl highest viewed part of the Crossover. I think they should move Supergirl to Tuesdays as the show could benefit from a Flash lead-in.

Supergirl is a leading tv show, it needing a lead in like The Flash is not a good look for it.

Unfortunately Supergirl's numbers have dropped from the first season. When they're moved to Sunday nights, it went down further until it eventually held stead until now.

The true test is to see whether how many people will return in January 20 from these numbers.

Sundays is also a new night where its done well by CW standards.

That could easily mean Supergirl goes up after the NFL is over. but I think any ratings comparison probably has to include Supernatural and Riverdale.

Since we're on a hiatus, seems like a good time to check in with some overall live viewing rankings. Arrow has really made a comeback lately. Here's how the CW shows are averaging in live viewing numbers so far this season:

1.) The Flash - .66 demo; 1.790mil live viewers
2.) Arrow - .44 demo; 1.314mil live viewers
3.) Riverdale - .44 demo; 1.295mil live viewers
4.) Supernatural - .42 demo; 1.470mil live viewers
5.) Supergirl - .41 demo; 1.360mil live viewers
6.) Charmed - .34 demo; 1.070mil live viewers
7.) Black Lightning - .34 demo; 1.041mil live viewers
8.) Legacies - .33 demo; 1.094mil live viewers
9.) Legends of Tomorrow - .31 demo; 0.950mil live viewers
10.) All-American - .24 demo; 0.698mil live viewers
11.) Dynasty - .18 demo; 0.602mil live viewers
12.) Crazy Ex-Girlfriend - .14 demo; 0.420mil live viewers

I usually watch Supergirl Monday on-line. It's my day off and I don't have to worry about tuning in at 8 and seeing a foozeball game and having to wait for it to be over.

I'll probably Binge Black Lightning at some point in the next week or so to get caught up, while I am off on Break.

man, I did not realize Lot's ratings were so bad.

Never thought I would return back here...but let me say this, as far as January 7th, 2019 goes, it's a good thing Supergirl is on a Sunday as ESPN and its army of networks are airing the College Football National Championship as Alabama and Clemson meet for the millionth time (kidding...the 4th) in this BCS tournament format. The Flash and Arrow reruns of the Elseworlds crossover is up against about the first half of the game.

As for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, it's the show's last season anyway.

And OT, as for the college football championship...#ROLLTIDE!

As for when the NFL ends...Supergirl will have to face The Super Bowl.

Like other networks, CW won't put the show up against the Super Bowl. There's traditionally one skip week during the period between winter and spring break and with the Super Bowl deciding what week that should be became a no brainer.

Numbers for last night were 0l.3 and 1.04 million.
