And it will be like rubbing salt in to wounds if it makes a billion.

Not trying to start a fight on here, but Marvel movies have a proven brand that almost guarantees their movies AT LEAST break even.

That and the tone of the movie is lighter than BvS.

What will really make the movie sink or swim is the movie's reasoning for Stark to work with the government.

Star Wars is the most profitable IP in the world. Has been for decades. TNNT topped it for like two years.

Someone's really arguing the popularity, iconography and profitability of Mad Max to... Star Wars. Really? Really now? Mad Max is more akin to Predator. And barely that.

What is TNNT?

See, you didn't read the previous posts and history...you made assumptions!

The MadMax series was very popular. Maybe not as profitable as SW but very well known.

My point was that there was an assertion that Max, Road Warrior and Thunderdome did not help FR at all because it was "long dead".

Feel free to quote me on this but Civil War is going to make more than Avengers and will be Marvels most successful movie......just watch. Also I think it also might be their most critically acclaimed.

It WAS a dead franchise. That's inarguable. To say otherwise is silly.

And I meant TMNT, which overtook Star Wars as the most profitable IP for a few years in he 90s. But aside from that Star Wars is and has been king since the 80s.

No doubt. That OW is gonna be crazy.

no...most would say it's been dead since Return of the Jedi...

Yeah, I guess you're right. Those movies, TV shows, games, books, comics and toys don't count. That was just the death rattle of Star Wars that's been going on for thirty years.

Do you mean in a visual or narrative sense?

Visually yeah, it's definitely going to look brighter, but from a narrative standpoint it could very well be just as dark. There will be moments of levity for sure, but the Russo's described the film as a psychological thriller.

When talking about franchise popularity the movies aren't the be all end all. Even if they were, comparing Mad Max to Star Wars is still kinda ridiculous.

well..., you guys have fun with your pseudo intellectual make believe I understand the industry better than you tho I rather point out that someone used the wrong word or phrase and just can't let it go long enough to understand the gist of the statement...
I hope you all finally get the movies of your dreams and fantasies.

May the wind be always at your back.

god bless you all...everyone.

:cwink:

But he was talking about the movies.

the last SW movie before FA was Revenge of the Sith, that's 10 years ago. the last MM movie before FR was Thunderdome, that's 30 years ago.

claming SW was as dead as MM is just silly.

He would still be wrong.

Why do you assume I'm a he?

And I can't be wrong.

My comment was that someone claimed that having a very popular MadMax 3 movie series history... DID NOT help Fury Road to get rebooted and have some success.

That's the only question here.

I am having trouble understanding your lack of understanding.

Your comment was that most have considered Star Wars to be dead since Return of the Jedi, which is false.

Obviously the visual tone is lighter, but the narrative tone will probably be more in line with Winter Solider and even that was still "lighter" than BvS.

BvS was excessively dark, gloomy and depressing. I can only think of one "light" moment in the movie (Clark jumping into the tub with Lois). Everything else is suicide inducing.

It didn't. Did you not follow the abysmal pre-release "hype"? No one wanted that movie. It was in post production hell. Only when the trailers started hitting did people pay attention. Mad Max fans especially. FR felt like George Miller's swan song.

I know you're a he.

well I'm not so there...

you're commenting on the wrong comment.

The ROTJ was a witticism...

Many HATE the prequels.

I wouldn't call it suicide inducing but BvS was definitely gloomy most of the time. I expect Civil War to handle its subject matter in a more balanced way, tonally.
