No but they still got lucky with how it took off and they got people excited when they announced avengers 1 and the first time hearing of shared movies. That right there had people going because they knew where it was going. Now its not that big of deal because the novelty has worn off.

Yep. And look at Doctor Strange. Feige has been wanting to make that movie since day 1 but he knew he had to wait to get weird. I really wish DC would find a guy like that

You werent trolling with your immature theory of bruce and alfred being together? Yeah ok bye as well, if you hated the movie so much why do you keep coming back to talk about it and bash it? Oh thats right looking for attention

The funniest and most tragic part about all of this is that Warner Bros/DC created the "MCU" model in animation over a decade ago.

Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, and then Justice League & Justice League: Unlimited. The creative team understood that they had created the base by giving us two entire shows that fleshed out these two great characters over a series of years to allow that as "build up" to Justice League to create a "shared" universe.

They were ahead of their time and Marvel Studios/Paramount at the time took advantage of that model and now Disney has pumped it with HGH and TEST and has made MARVEL into the leading brand in the superhero genre.

That's how you create a world. I was willing to give this endeavor a chance with some major reservations that I and herolee and many others kept talking about. With that said I love BvS but my business/sustainability part of me knows this isn't good for the DC film brand at all.

I don't think there's anything complex about the state of DC right now.

They simply picked the wrong guy (dearest Zack) to start their universe.

They don't need a Feige. They don't need to be like Disney. They have a decent slate and some decent talent for their other films. They simply needed a better director than Snyder to kick things off.

If the directors of each of these properties were 1) solid directors to begin with and 2)knowledgeable on the specific property they're assigned to direct, all would be well.

But the most important properties of all...the first ones...the ones that set the tone and serve to hook the audience into the entire chain of properties...were handed to a sub-par director.

The funniest and most tragic part about all of this is that Warner Bros/DC created the "MCU" model in animation over a decade ago.

Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, and then Justice League & Justice League: Unlimited. The creative team understood that they had created the base by giving us two entire shows that fleshed out these two great characters over a series of years to allow that as "build up" to Justice League to create a "shared" universe.

They were ahead of their time and Marvel Studios/Paramount at the time took advantage of that model and now Disney has pumped it with HGH and TEST and has made MARVEL into the leading brand in the superhero genre.

That's how you create a world. I was willing to give this endeavor a chance with some major reservations that I and herolee and many others kept talking about. With that said I love BvS but my business/sustainability part of me knows this isn't good for the DC film brand at all.

Animation is great at wb but a whole new ball game to live action

I used that as an example of poor character building. And I didn't hate the movie. Gave it a fair 2/4 review. Why am I here talking about it so much? Because this is the most important CBM of the year. Few years. It will sculpt the future of DC movies. It will also affect Marvel and Fox CBMs as well. It's an event. And it's worth talking about. But I guess "trolling" is another way of saying "you aren't telling me what I want to hear"

If not Bruce Timm, why not Paul Dini? Or James Tucker, even though recent DC animation hasn't quite reached DCAU level?

That’s thing. Someone kept telling me last weekend that it’s OK that this isn’t family friendly because there are “other versions of Superman” that they could watch instead. Yeah, that’s not how you start a franchise.

Exactly this. Build your brand slowly with steadfast, crowd pleasing and fiscally conversation films. Build an audience. Make me happy. Then sell them on bigger, crazier, weirder things. It's not hard, it just takes time. BvS coming out when it did is the equivalent of Batman Beyond coming out before BTAS. You can love or hate BvS but either side should understand DC is going about this bass ackwards.

Indeed. Of course this thing is collapsing. It's built upon a shaky foundation. It's build upon Snyder, who was never that solid of a director. IMO, it has little to do with WB's failure to follow the Marvel formula properly and much to do with the whole thing being built upon a mediocre director.
