Even though I love what Marvel is doing with their continuous ongoing saga leading up to Infinity War, I am not sure how I feel about ALL of these big "franchise" films taking the same approach of " Oh, this is only the first part of an ongoing story...so we're not gonna tell you jack in this movie but don't worry, maybe you'll get more in the sequel in two years! Enjoy this cliffhanger and thanks for your $20!" I'm old school, I feel every film should stand on its own and tell its own beginning, middle and end narrative and then you could still tease what's next ( ala Batman Begins' " We've got a new player in town, here's his calling card" "I'll look into it.")

Star Wars did the same thing, I was not a fan of the way TFA ended (It was a good movie though) but apparently I'm the only one and everyone else gives it a pass. I do not like it when films end on cliffhangers and leave the narrative unresolved.

But that's just my opinion.

That's why I love Nolan...

He made 3 individual films that can stand alone or together. TDK has a slight cliffhanger but honestly if there wasn't a sequel... it's still a wonderful ending to a Batfilm concerning both Bruce's arc and either of the villains.

So from any of the Iron Man movies, Cap movies, Thor movies, Gaurdian of the Galxy etc etc
Those wernt standalone movies?
The Infinity War is the lead up...but each movies has their own development
in characters, their own story line etc etc....

Don't know if it's already been discussed but with Clark's body being laid to rest in his own casket I wonder who's body they've put in Superman's casket?

Hmm Bruce makes a quick remark about it at the Clark funeral but I can't remember. Maybe Doomsday, I don't know. Hopefully Batman salvaged some Doomsday stuff and any remaining kryptonite. I like the idea still of Batman having countermeasures to each JL member if needed.

Was just at a couple of other forums where people are on a feeding frenzy about this movie and the majority openly discuss not even having seen it. How do people get so caught up in hating something they haven't even watched? When I see a movie with flaws I don't relish that it wasn't perfect or inflate those flaws to devalue what works in the movie.

I think maybe that is why so many people are hyper defensive of this movie, it's not so much the people who saw it and didn't like it, it is the people who celebrate hating it without even seeing it. BvS is a flawed movie but so were nolans films. So are the majority of marvels films. So we're the Donner films. I am not bashing any of those films, I feel blessed to live in a time with so many cbms to enjoy. (It was a long stretch between superman 2 and batman 89....)

Sorry if this was a bit of a rant...

Bruce said something about the spectacles for an empty coffin. The open casket funeral for Clark is my biggest concern about the entire movie.

You are right. Sadly, some people focus on the negatives and ignore the positives.

Was the casket always open--we don't know that for sure do we? And how many people do we see actually view the open casket anyway? I only caught Ma in that scene? Were there others?

Yeah it was open casket, they all would have seen.

What are we talking about? Open casket? Whether it's Clark's body inside?

Besides Lois I didn't see anyone from the Planet though. I think it was just family friends or neighbors like the Langs. I imagine they all knew he was Superman since anyone there would have known about things like him pushing a bus out of a river. They would have at least heard the rumors anyway. Then aliens attacked the the Kent farm. Then Superman appeared.
Years later they have their funerals on the same day. If One day Superman Returns and it's revealed that Clark was some John Doe comatose in a hospital nobody at that funeral is going to say a thing.

Why does he need to go? because his vision didnt fit yours going in? They promoted this film as what we expected for 3 years now. Why is it such a shock we got a dark batman superman film?

The internet yes the internet took a large nevatiive stance on this film and yet in REAL world ive yet to meet anyone who didnt like it.

Me too. Everyone I talk to who has scene it with the exception of 1 person has liked the film. It's so weird seeing all of the Internet rage on this movie. Haters gonna hate...

Marvel is lucky not to have the baggage of pleasing fans of past iterations of characters that DC has. a lot of preconceptions are used as basis if the movie is good or not which IMO is unfair because one should judge a movie for what is is not what you want it to be.

I don't think it's impossible for Clark Kent to come back, to be honest. His funeral was very small, and I would not be surprised if most people at his funeral already knew that Clark and Superman were one in the same. So it could be retconned easily, I suspect.

but those preconceptions drive audiences to the theater so it's blessing and curse. if you want people to go see GOTG, it has to be a good movie.

when Lois asked Perry for a helicopter and approved it when Lois said it's not for a story, does it really confirm that those people from the Daily Planet (at least those seen in the ending of MOS) knows who Clark really is?

but you won't definitely get reviews saying "that's not my Groot!!!1" because there's no previous interpretations especially in movies that people can compare from.

Question:
Was Flash's scene supposed to be a reference to this:

Gotta love how throughout the film Perry goes on and on about how broke the DP is becuase no one buys newspapers anymore, yet he just hands out helicopters like they are Jolly Ranchers..

No, dialogue throughout BvS suggests that Perry doesn't know that Clark is Superman. He probably did assume, though, that Clark Kent was in some crap and that Lois needed to go help him.

Or maybe he thought it did have something to do with Superman and Lois wanted to get there as a friend.

I think this Perry is the sarcastic/smart@ss kind, anyway I think if you truly value your staff you would help them no matter what.

Clark being in trouble makes sense especially with how we've seen Clark wanting to investigate the Bat in Gotham. also with that "news" article in the end.

for the second one, Perry seems to value Lois so he won't hesitate helping her. both things are possible.
