So did any of the comics explain why wayne manor is abandoned and destroyed?

In KINGDOM COME, his identity goes public, and Bane and The Joker destroy it somehow.

In THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS, it blows up to cover up his secrets.

I'm guessing somewhere along the lines of the former, with a dash of abandoning his personal life/Bruce Wayne. It seems a little more than just run down.

I didn't read the prequel comics, if that's what you mean. Maybe?

The manor's derelict state in the movie suggests it's because Bruce has let his life as Bruce Wayne - billionaire playboy, go to the dogs because of his obsession being Batman.

But then at the start of the movie he seems well known to all his staff at the Wayne building in Metropolis, and he's well known at the party as well, so that doesn't really make much sense, as it's clear he hasn't let his public life go by the way side.

Was just at a couple of other forums where people are on a feeding frenzy about this movie and the majority openly discuss not even having seen it. How do people get so caught up in hating something they haven't even watched? When I see a movie with flaws I don't relish that it wasn't perfect or inflate those flaws to devalue what works in the movie.

I think maybe that is why so many people are hyper defensive of this movie, it's not so much the people who saw it and didn't like it, it is the people who celebrate hating it without even seeing it. BvS is a flawed movie but so were nolans films. So are the majority of marvels films. So we're the Donner films. I am not bashing any of those films, I feel blessed to live in a time with so many cbms to enjoy. (It was a long stretch between superman 2 and batman 89....)

Sorry if this was a bit of a rant...

No need to apologise in enjoying a movie and trying to defend it.

After thinking about this extensively I've come to the conclusion that the combination of Snyder and the Nolanesque dogma WB tried to enforce to their DCU moving forward was a recipe for disaster. If you take the Nolan trilogy as an isolated world it works because it plays out like a crime thriller. Every aspect of those movies was well thought out and played it's part in a grand unified vision of an exceptional film maker. The key element that a lot of people fail to mention is that such an approach works for Batman and well... no other character I can think of. You're applying a real world aesthetic to a character that at the end of the day has no super powers. Those elements can work and as we saw did so beautifully. To take that formula and try to apply it to the entire DCU(which includes an alien who can fly and shoot lasers through his eyes) is ludicrous, let alone rest it all on the shoulders of an unreliable director as Snyder. Nolan was able to get to the heart of what batman was about, Snyder cares more about his "visionary" shots than adding any discernible or remotely interesting or likable depth to his characters or movie. He could not get people to care about his characters, and that along with the ability to inspire are the key factors that make superhero films appealing. Snyder doesn't get that and it seems WB has forgotten it. It's almost like Snyder shoots a film with the script in mind rather than shooting the film with the story and what is at the crux of it in mind.

Yes the manors state reminds me of kingdom come as well.

See this is what annoys me about Snyder, he takes things from the comics but gives no context to it in the movies.

it blows my mind that people think BVS was "all style and no substance"
I could certainly say that about another brand of CBM in particular but not BVS.

Well, a lot of people are saying it. I find no substance in this film. The characters are all cardboard cutouts that I had absolutely no connection with. It's hard to get emotional about [blackout]Superman's death[/blackout] when I had no emotional investment in the character during the film.

I'm going to see it the second time Tuesday, this time in 2D 'cause I really dislike 3D. I'm frickin' pumped!

I really loved it the first time and I've been so hyped to see it a second time. I really don't understand all the hate for this. I guess I'm just not intelligent enough to hate this movie but I really love it. Sure, there are flaws and things that could've been done better but man, I don't see how this is a bad movie to anyone. My fanglasses are too thick I guess.

Also, I've been listening to the soundtrack and there are some really iconic tunes there man, especially Their War Here and This Is My World. The latter always gets me and makes me feel I really need to see this again. I really can't wait for the Directors Cut so I can watch this film once a week.

I'm not trolling, I'm not a fanboy trying to defend this to my last breath or anything. I just really liked this movie. This and Watchmen are my favourite CBMs ever made. It makes me sad that so few people feel the way I do.

I feel like hype is like a balloon. The more imperfect a movie is, the more the hype deflates. BvS is a flawed movie, but I don't believe it's truly BAD.

I think that the Wayne manor will be explained with something like Bruce Wayne abandoning his heritage and his playboy lifestyle with no respect to his past and family.

When in reality Bruce lets it go down in ruins because he somewhere along the way feels he has let his parents down and succumbs to the darkness. I think it will have a lot to do with the death of Robin and his "feeling of powerlessness", he's been Batman for 20 years and nothing much has changed.

Since they changed a lot of the things that were shown in Ang Lee's HULK when they made THE INCREDIBLE HULK...and since the Marvel Studious wasn't actually started when it was made....it isn't considered to be in the MCU.

I believe the general concensus of the order is -

IRON MAN
THE INCREDIBLE HULK
IRON MAN 2
THOR
CAPTAIN AMERICA
AVENGERS

Just realized they had 6 movies in phase one.
At this stage WB would be at their TIH.
Perhaps SS will do IM2 numbers and WW will do Thor numbers.

Yeah. For example, I'm scratching my head by people who are saying Gal Gadot "stole the show" in this movie. Why? Because she swung a sword considerably well? She was barely in this film at all. That's not to say she was bad (she wasn't) but I didn't really feel anything for her because we barely got to know her. Maybe she stole that particular SCENE, but if she stole the whole movie for you, then maybe that has more to do with how poorly developed the main characters were.

I feel like the focus of superhero movies should always be the characters. The action and the "cool looking" scenes... that stuff should always be secondary. Everything is meaningless if you don't give a **** about the characters.

I thought he gave the character building scenes a lot of screen time. even to the detriment of the overall plot of the film. several little scenes were thrown in just to flesh out the characters, especially Batman/Bruce.

Maybe the change of directors gives a little jolt to the universe. If WW has more of a golden age tone and works I could see them making adjustments with JL. Now is the time to see how the public takes something other than Snyder.

Yeah I feel like batman had more character building than Superman in the last 2 movies. WW was great because she wasn't terrible. It was nice to see she handled herself well. I love how she turned up the sexy vixen but when she was about to fight she went full amazon.

She pretty much stole it because she wasn't in it enough to get ruined.

Seeing as I realised I probably wouldn't get much of a chance to get a 3rd IMAX rewatch I decided to watch the film again by *ahem* other means.

Still really like it. Probably liking it more after every watch though Jack still bugs the hell outta me. The Knightmare sequence gets more badass every time. This is probably the most opposite I've been with critics and fandom on a movie.

I'd go so far as to say I love it!

You know why she stole the show? People have been waiting for her to appear in film for decades and the fact she got so much love I think stems from not only that decades long builds up but also the quality of the film itself.

I know her appearance was the only reason my daughter wanted to see the movie, and she loved every second of her screen time (what little there was of it). Which is why I have little doubt that WW's OW will be huge and legs great assuming the movie is halfway good. The pent-up demand is definitely there.

Your actions and efforts suggest otherwise.

Exactly. You don't need a degree in psychiatry to see what quite a few members are doing. It's quite shocking to me that the site and mods are not doing more to ask some members to rein it in a little. (or a lot!)

Weird isn't it?

Glad to know you are here 24/7 are in perfect health have no family or job and don't have to sleep.

It's supposed to be a mystery
http://screenrant.com/batman-v-superman-bruce-wayne-manor-gotham-city/

But my personal thoughts suggest that Bruce burnt it down himself, one day in great rage and dismay over what happened to Robin and possibly Batgirl too. It's a sign that old Bruce is dead. Hopefully though, as he picks up the pieces of his life, he'll decide to rebuild it, just like in the Nolan series.

I fully appreciate that you work hard here C. Lee, and I also know you have had some health issues etc, so please don't think I'm taking a shot at you. It's just that quite a few members here have wondered why the BvS boards have been a little nasty and not exactly pleasant to be visiting since the films release.

It's not just one moderators job (yourself) to run and keep things decent here, so I'm not pointing the finger at you. I feel more could be done about posters who are cleverly baiting almost non stop or repeat negative posts, also folk who say they like the movie are getting jumped on and ridiculed most of the time.

Opinions are fine of course, but it has got out of hand here and still is to an extent. You only have to read the last page or so of this thread or the box office threads or in fact, nearly every thread except the positivity one to see that members are not happy and are being 'upset' by certain styles of posting that do inflame things.

I can't be bothered with it anymore. Lots of good folk here are being driven away is all I'll say.

You do a good job C. Lee, hope I didn't offend you man, but I felt I had to say something.

As an article said recently, fans are ruining a golden time of CBM's

Sad isn't it.

I got the impression he did it himself for the sake of covering his tracks when he stopped being the Batman after Robin's death. More like a blaming himself type thing and he lost it.

Where does this come from? I don't know. My mind...but it's what first popped into it, so I'll roll with that.

As someone who has been watching the forums every hour or so, I'd say the mods are doing a pretty solid job of keeping it clean. I see the mod's warnings, but I've yet to see the posts they are referring to. This leads me to believe that those posts are getting deleted pretty fast on average.

In fact, the thought it was being over-moderated even crossed my mind until just now.
