BvS All Things Batman v Superman: An Open Discussion (TAG SPOILERS) - Part 302

Im currently re watching The Avengers and it just made me think:

The rationale for Thor fighting Iron Man/Cap is as stupid to me as Batman and Superman fighting in BvS

The main difference is that the Thor vs Iron Man/Cap fight isn't as important of the film

Thor fights Iron Man because IM was trying to stop him from taking Loki, and Thor and Tony are huge hot-heads. I think it made sense, character wise, for them to fight.

Yeah. I bought it.

Idk it's still so stupid to me in a situation that could've resolved itself just as easy as the Bats/Supes fight.

I think the BvS fight was in character for the DCEU versions of Bats and Supes

I agree, it was. They're both dumb and murderous.

Iron Man wanted the Tessaract from Loki and Thor wanted to take Loki back. And as has been previously said, both are hotheads. So I don't see the problem.

And DCEU Batman and Superman are both hotheads so I don't see how their fight rationale is any worse than Thor/Cap/IM

EDIT: or should I say the way the fight in The Avengers escalated and was quickly forgotten was no more stupid than how it was handled in BvS to me

How about after this year no more heroes fighting each other. Lets get back to heroes vs villians.

I agree.

I saw a thread titled: "Should the Defenders fight each other?" and all I could think of was ugh.

Because Superman was chastising Batman for doing the same thing he does. It was dumb and hypocritical. A thin motivation.

The movie knew it too. Hence they had to get Martha as a hostage to make up for it.

It always came off to me like the concept belonged soley to the comics where the readers could let there imagination do the work. We all knew batman n superman werent gonna kill each other and it took away from the tension for me atleast.

Batman was in the process of killing Superman before the Martha sketch.

True but did any doubt ever come into your mind batman would really stabbed him? Especially this early in the world building?

As I edited I said: "the way the fight in The Avengers escalated and was quickly forgotten was no more stupid than how it was handled in BvS to me"

No. The trailers already spoiled Doomsday. But I wasn't expecting the resolution of their fight to be so spectacularly dumb.

The fight stopped because Cap, the most level headed of the three, calmed them down. I would say that was infinitely more logical than Maaaartha.

The fight stopped after Thor tried to kill Cap and failed.
"Drop the hammer"
*Boom*
"We done here"

Then theyre all buddies.

But agree to disagree we're not gonna change opinions or anything and we'll keep going round and round

They would've continued if Cap didn't interfere. So he still calmed them down, even if he had to take a shot himself.

And they weren't "buddies" until during the final battle. Or did you miss their bickering in the helicarrer?

Yeah, they just stopped fighting but they damn sure weren't buddies. Thor was arguing that they needed to release Loki into his custody and they were explaining just what Loki had been doing and why they needed to to keep him there.

The closest we see to them being "buddies" is the after credits shawarma scene.

Caused by Loki's

But okay they werent buddies. BUt they did seem cordial in the scene right after the fight. "No hard feelings Point Break"

That fight was the perfect example of why I generally find heroes fighting each other like that makes them look dumb. Pretty much something you just think of while on the playground with your friends back in grade school. It was at least cut short.

Initially when the film was announced, I was sorta hoping they were going to go the New Frontier route.

Loki only exploited what was already there.

They were cordial but I doubt they would trust the other to save their mother.

Oh god, when is the ultimate cut coming out?!
