I'm not sure if 3D has gotten better or if I'm just warming up to it, but I know I'll see this in 3D opening day.
We don't have any IMAX theaters near my town unfortunately, just Carmike's "Big D" experience. Yes, that's the real name.

For me, it's only gotten worse. It rarely contributes to the film: it's either too distracting or you forget it's there. It also seems to "shrink" the scope of everything and ruins the image quality. To each their own, though!

So the problem you have is not with the arguments themselves, but with the hyperbole in the wording, I take it? Because it's pretty easy to deduce what people mean when they say these things. Hyperbole is the language of Fanboy Nation. Both the positive and negative camps use it on a regular basis. It doesn't mean their criticisms or praise hold no merit.

Um....yes it does. If you are twisting facts, you're arguments hold no water. That's argument 101.

But I wasn't trying to get on this. You're right that it's part of fanboyism, on positive and negative sides.

I was just trying to explain why it is people feel like jumping on the naysayers. And I think the twisted arguments are why....it's simply much easier to forgive positive arguments for being slipshod, because they hype people up.

I'm a sucker for 3D films (unless it's clash of the titans) so an IMAX 3D showing is how i'm going to watch BvS.
I don't get the 3D hate sometimes  I like getting a chance to watch it in both

I will say ever since one of my local IMAXes got a Laser IMAX projector, the 3D has been much more tolerable. It's so bright you don't notice the usual dimming that comes with 3D.

I've never been to an Imax. So you guys think it's worth it? I will be doing the 3D

i find it hard to read post after an um.... is dropped. it's like declaring how close minded you are being on a topic to everyone :o

IMAX is basically a bigger screen than the traditional theatre screen, but i like the sense of scale when watching event films like BvS.

Actually, arguments have little to do with actual facts, and everything to do with persuasion (just look at political debates!), but that's a convo for another time. ;)

Regardless, I think your last statement is spot on - we let the positive hyperbole go because we like to get hyped up. But that means we can't keep jumping on the people who share similarly hyperbolic negative opinions. Hyperbole is irrational, but we're all doing it, so the rational thing to do would just be to accept it as that person's opinion and move on.

I feet it depends on the movie for how much it adds. I really felt TFA for example was better in 3D

Lol, for me TFA was the final straw. Not that the 3D was bad relative to other movies, I just find myself after every 3D movie saying, "wish I would've seen it in 2D." It just takes me out of it.

there may be some hyperbole on your end as well regarding actual comments made. you might be exaggerating opinions of others at times. or maybe 1 person says it in an exaggerated way but you assert that's how everyone else with a negative opinion some something views things :o
I could see that. When someone hears a negative from one poster, they may associate all other negatives with that level of extreme. A legitimate post that isn't praising the movie could easily be lumped in with a more over the top comment. Someone says that the film needs some brighter scenes for Superman and all the sudden, it's repeated back that the person said the film has no color. Lol!

My biggest qualm was that the glasses darkened the movie so it was tough to really see anything but I haven't had that problem in a movie in some time. I think they're compensating by brightening it up a little bit. I could certainly do without it, but I like seeing things in the premium theaters and 3D is just a part of that now.

They should be trying to push the limits of 3D for a film with Superman in it! All of his powers, it would be cool to see what they can really do in 3D. Imagine isolated lasers or something being able to come towards you ;)

This is true, unfortunately. My best theatre audio/visual experiences have been IMAX 2D. TDK, TDKR, MI4 and 5 were all breath taking.

won't argue with this; as I said, I was just trying to show why naysayers get picked on. The haters don't really bug me as much as it might seem....

But i will say there's a diff between argument and valid argument. Political campaigns argue, for example, but they aren't good arguments, just convincing, because people swallow bad arguments.

I won't be doing 3D for BvS. At least not for my first viewing.

I won't be doing 3D either. I just can't do it. I wear glasses as is. Wearing the 3D over mine is a no go, and taking my glasses off and putting the 3D on just is a blurry mess and will cause a headache. I just stick to 2D now. I think avatar was the last film I saw in 3D if I remember correctly.

Ultimately, the loudest voices are the ones with the weakest arguments. That's the problem.

I wear glasses as well and I usually double up on the spectacles when seeing 3D, it usually doesn't bother me and I get the feeling the glasses they have you wear are designed for a little extra room for eyeglasses underneath. It feels dorky as hell though, I'll give you that :funny:

Yeah and it just starts to bother me, feel like it's too much **** on my face haha.

Same here with Avatar being the last 3D film I've seen. I also wear glasses and while I would love to watch a 3D movie, I either have to sit closer to the screen than I would prefer (and still it's blurry as hell) or I gotta put the glasses over my glasses, which is uncomfortable and headache inducing.

Besides, lately 3D doesn't offer a whole lot from what I've been hearing and actually distracts from the film.
