BvS All Things Batman v Superman [NO SPOILERS] - Part 1

It doesn't help that Snyder was talking smack about Ant-Man. BvS failing critically is gonna give Marvel fanboys so much fuel...

The thing is he wasn't talking smack about Ant-Man. He just made a comparison in terms of brand awareness between Ant-Man and Batman/Superman.

Of course the clickbait articles didn't care to make that clear.

It's still easy fuel when you compare Ant-Man to some made up think like Blankman.

snyder's films have always been bashed by critics.

This is true.

At the end of the day, if you like Watchmen or 300 or Man of Steel, or Dawn of the Dead, Sucker Punch etc, then does it really matter what the critics say about Snyder?

I would rather have the so called 'movie expert critics' bash Snyder and the DC style etc than Snyder be considered middle of the road bland fare that every Tom, Dick and Harry likes. I see the movie tomorrow and I will judge for myself what I think. I like what I likes and care not for others approval.

Fudge the critics and go in open minded is what I think.

Hope everyone loves the film (including me) gets some enjoyment out of this experience and leaves the negative thoughts of others at home for the night! :woot:

Am I the only one who is starting to use certain parts of the interwebs less and less? Hate what it is right now, people bashing everything and each other with such venom at times, clickbait etc.

Sign of unhappy times and unhappy people me thinks.

We should all boycott click bait stuff, and known idiots. Rise up people and make a change!

Okay, I'm done now :woot:

i really liked watchmen and man of steel quite a bit.
dawn of the dead was decent.

300 was visually impressive, but the story was whatever - but that's because the source material was whatevers to begin with, but thats my own opinion.

i still need to see sucker punch and that one kid's movie snyder made - the one with the owls. i remember they looked visually impressive at least.
snyder's visuals are always good, thats for sure.

Try the directors cut of Punch Me Sucka, it's devisive and some hate it some love it, Snyder devides again haha I struggled with it but in kind of a good way, and the Owls of Ga Hoole is pretty good, I enjoyed it anyway. Snyder is not my fave director but he definitely gets a rough ride imo

Best way to enjoy Sucker Punch is under the influence of beverage and herbs, or so I've been told...

Coffee and Oregano always seem to do the trick for me :woot:

i'll watch it with some olde english 800 malt liquor.
like i did for scanner darkly.

OMG, guys!!!!!! I finally watched it. This is my favorite comic book movie of all time. No question. Zack Snyder, I love you man. Thank you so much for such a great time. I hope you stay on Justice League and direct the hell out of it... Can't freaking wait.

^thats good to hear. Movie is about to start in 5 min for me.

Awesome. The more and more reactions like that I read and hear the more I forget about the grim situation RT brought.

I am watching the film in 12 hours and 30 minutes. Can't wait.

Got back from my viewing, everyones performance were great but ben nails it as bruce and batman. The editing let me down though, I really enjoyed the film but its going to be very divisive between comic book fans more than the GA who will be more on the confused side. WW i want more, im hungry for her lol. Some dudes next to me and my two nephews 12-9yrs were so shocked at her reveal that they had no idea she was wonder woman lol they geeked out so funny. Its a movie that needs another rewatch because alot of things happen and its hard to process in 1 viewing. Im keeping my ticket to remind of me of this day. Their was only one scene where i was like holyshi...

Guess what - kind of loved it!

This going in with no expectations thing worked wonders. I just had fun, as a superman fan girl enjoying a movie about her hero, and didn't get bogged down on what was wrong or not how i'd like it.

So was it appropriate for kids around that age?

I saw some posters debating it earlier.

There were kids at my viewing but i think its a matter of whether the film was taylor made for them because i think the film is more adult orientated and i think its more geared towards comicbook fans and adults. Kids are gonna be confused and have alot of questions thats what i think. My nephews were fine they had more questions about the movie though and concerns about batman but loved WW when they saw her and thought all the action scenes were badass. I would say 10 and up is more suitable i dont think the little ones will be interested. There were teenagers who looked 16-17 in front of me when we walked out you can hear them say "lets buy another ticket i wanna watch it again" so that was good to hear :).

Awesome! Know what's funny? I don't know how I feel about it lol ;)

My gf and I loved it as did everyone at the theater! I think roach nailed it with what he said, it is flawed but it is still everything I wanted it to be. (and more) The trailers did not spoil the movie, hell I would say 70% of what we think we know we dont know and even the stuff we do know is executed in a great way!

Ignore the critics and what all of us say (yes even me and the people who love it) and see/judge for yourself. I can think of about 4 scenes alone that make it worth the price of admission and that is if you literally hate the rest of the flick.

I dunno, I kept hearing this leading up to my screening, and I didn't think it was that bad. I'm not sure why people are saying that? If a kid can handle TDK, they can easily handle this. I actually think TDK is more brutal and depressing over this. I seriously don't get that complaint? Granted, this isn't a Marvel movie, but I just never really heard these warnings with TDK. But like most of the critical response to this, I'm baffled.

So, if you're asking me, if your kid can handle TDK, they can easily handle this.

I would agree with that...and I would also agree that TDK is more brutal and depressing. Any story where Batman's love is killed, Harvey Dent is burned in half then goes on a killing spree then dies, the Joker terrorizes an entire city and Batman is forced into hiding because they had to frame him is dark and depressing! NO MORE DEAD COPS! ;)

Look this movie isnt a little ray of sunshine and it was never going to be. Now I am biased, I was going to like at least parts of this movie no matter what. My buddy who saw it last week had no bias, just wanted to see a great superhero movie and he gave it higher marks than me. My girlfriend who has no cares either way about any of this crap thought it was very good and despite being long had a great time. When I told her what the critics were saying she looked at me blankly and just blew it off. She went from zero interest in Justice League to really looking forward to it...not to ention she is jonsing for Wonder Woman.

The movie isnt perfect, and I think Snyder made some bad choices in editing and a bit of the tone. I still would prefer he didnt make Justice League. I think they could have trimmed a bit of fat and had things flow a bit better but I got the Lex I wanted, I got the Batgod I wanted, I got the Superman (for the most part) I wanted and I got the Wonder Woman I never knew I wanted. (as did the fans who cheered in my theater when she showed up which made my gf smile)

The thing is, I dont care if I am the only person in the world that liked it I did and I will say that proudly :)

Thanks for the great explanation guys! I am looking forward to it.

Well guys, Finally saw it in 70mm IMAX. I admit I was, while hopeful, going into it a bit reserved and anxious. But Jesus Christ was my mind blown. Even my friend who absolutely hated MoS and rated it lower than GL said he really liked it, and did not deserve the score it got on RT.

There were so many moments where the crowd bursted out into cheers and applause. I miss those moments in these big movies. And it ended in thunderous applause as well.

This whole thing is making me mixed about whether I want Snyder to do JL or not. I mean the visuals in this film are top effin notch. But the cutting in the first half, like most people say, is kinda messy and choppy. Like i can tell there's a really good story in there, but for whatever reason, certain scenes weren't given time to fully pan, resulting in some choppy edits. Personally, it didn't really detract from my experience, since I was able to follow the story, but I can understand if certain parts may leave the GA scratching their heads. But, at least in my theater room, it seems the incredible second half more than makes up for the first, which was basically to set up the rest of the movie anyway.

So all in all, aside from some issues with the editing of the first half, and my still at the moment mixed views on Lex, this film is definitely better than MoS, and, IMO, worthy to start the DCEU. The stuff that happens in here is almost straight out of comic book pages, not just in homage and adaption wise, but the style of the fights and action choreo. WOW. I give it an 8 out of 10, and a definite must see.

Same here. Was busy yesterday. Movie in 2 hours. Man, I'm nervous. I can barely eat breakfast.

Funny Hype-Like moment...as we are leaving the theater and I am explaining the easter eggs to the gf I mention how Marvel/Disney movies are more popular with critics and she says, and I kid you not "Yeah but everyone knows that Disney buys off a lot of critics!". Now I dont believe the conspiracy theories, and she doesnt even know about them she just knows how Disney is in general and came up with it on her own. Made me laugh ;)

(this is not a Marvel bashing post in any way, just a nice little anecdote I thought would make people smile)
