WB needs to stop announcing things unless they are already in production.

Agreed, amazon has not only bought Lotr they have also bought the dark tower and Conan the barbarian and you can bet they will make very expensive tv shows out of these franchises. Amazon prime video in 2-3 years will be very different than the one today.Expediency, for the most part. I love me some DC, but it's small potatoes in the grand scheme of things for an organisation like Time Warner. It's an easy loss for them, and is the kind of asset strip that would calm the nerves of investors should the merger fall apart. I doubt DC is worth any more than the 4 billion Disney paid for Marvel, and that isn't vast sums of money for this scale of corporate business. It'd really come down to a decision as to whether retaining DC was worth it for a company struggling after a failed merger or not. My gut says not.
Amazon have the cash to pay for DC once every day of the week, and twice on Sunday. And they are desperate for IP. I have no knowledge whatsoever about a specific interest in purchasing DC, but I can absolutely assure you that they are very, very keen on acquiring existing, popular IP to boost the content on the Amazon Video streaming platform.
If DC goes up for sale, Amazon are one of the most likely buyers, without a doubt.
At this point nothing would surprise me w Cavill's Superman. This Superman has clearly not been an audience favorite thus far and I don't think anyone outside of these circles is clamoring for another installment, but the character is an immensely valuable IP off iconography alone. It could go either way and I wouldn't be surprised.
And Ill say it again... after Justice League, no-one outside that very small selection of fans cares about Cavills Superman. What financial sense does it make to pour millions into another Superman movie with the same guy who had been in - for one reason or another - three mediocre or poor Superman movies, that left people cold? I understand fully a rebooted Superman, away from Snyders version. I dont understand the logic of keeping that version going at this stage. It doesnt make financial sense.
There's nothing wrong with Cavill; it was the way he was wrote. He's fine to play Superman. At this point nothing would surprise me w Cavill's Superman. I'd think people will always be excited at the prospect of another Batman or Superman movie, it's just if it doesn't conform to what they want out of it, then there's trouble. After the flop that is Snyder's DCEU I doubt any DC movie (aside from WW) is a worthwhile investment but if Aquaman, Shazam and WW2 are all hits then people *might*, just might be more excited for another superman or batman movie.
