If you have the likes of Speilberg joining the DCEU then I think the DCEU actually can be saved

Getting Spielberg is certainly a big coup for WB/DC if it actually happens. I'm sceptical though of just how connected to the DCEU his movie would be.

Other directors for the DCEU who would be a coup would either be The Wachowski Brothers or Guillermo Del Toro

If they can find a good project for Del Toro I would kill to see it.

Good projects for Del Toro as far as franchises who could really use him are either:

Batman, Green Lantern or Hawkman & Hawkgirl

Y'know what, I would be really interested to see Del Toro's take on the Hawks.

I remember there being some whispers of Peter Jackson and Justice League Dark a few months back.

If anyone could do justice for Hawkman and Hawkgirl as a franchise it would be Del Toro

I could see someone like JJ Abrams for Superman

As for Batman I could either go with Alfonso Cuaron, Darren Aronofsky or even David Fincher

For Flash definitely Robert Zemeckis

For Cyborg if they re-commit to giving him a franchise then I would probably go with Brett Ratner, Bryan Singer or even God forbid Michael Bay

I don't see how Spielberg doing one movie is turning these movies around. He's not in charge of the entire franchise.

Brett Ratner and Bryan singer are probably in hiding. And definitely don't deserve another cbm gig especially after their last outings. And are you suggesting bay because of transformers? Give bay Lobo.
Give cyborg to Jordan Peele and see what you get...

I don’t care if the DCEU continues.
I just want good DC movies.

They're the Wachowski Sisters now. And the last three movies they did for WB tanked: Speed Racer, Cloud Atlas (WB handled domestic distribution) and Jupiter Ascending.

WB isn't going to give them a $100M+ budget film for them to play with again. Not unless they do a big hit with a low to mid-range budget.

To be fair to the Wachowskis, they're doing Sense 8 now and it's really good. The show did get (sort of) canceled but that was due more to the massive budget than anything else; it has a loyal following. I think they are better suited a medium like television because their ideas are often to big to fit into a two hour movie. Or they just flat out don't understand the source material (Cloud Atlas).

In all fairness, you need a PHD in philosophy to truly get to the bottom of that book.

I think the Wachowski are really fixated on transformation/reincarnation. Maybe there are superheroes for them?

The only reincarnation related heroes or stories I can think of at the moment relate to Hawkman and Hawkgirl (Hawkwoman?) and, to a lesser extent (he's immortal) the villain Vandal Savage. Martian Manhunter is good for transformation, as he's a shapeshifter. His telepathy is an interesting power, too. I'm a fan of Sense 8, so I wouldn't be averse to seeing them tackle DC heroes.

If he was doing something central it might have an impact but it feels like its going to be a fringe project which doesn't have much spillover (and thereby reputation enhancement) to the rest of the universe regardless of if it's great or not.

How about Matt F-in Reeves for Batman? :funny:

Maybe Deadman? Not reincarnated but he can possess almost anyone as and when he needs to.

Eh, I didn't think the book was that hard to comprehend. And they even messed up the most obvious thing: the main character in each story is a reincarnation of the previous main character. But they decided to do this weird thing where the villain of the first story evolves into the hero of the last story just so they could use the same actors over and over again. It was really strange.

Okay, I'm just thick..... :woot:
