Though there might be those kind of news debates about violence in movies and people imitating onscreen violence like there was during Columbine. And TDKR will likely be factored into that.

The yt video states that because he is doing educational commentary and a review with the footage, it does not break copyright laws and can be freely distributed. Is this true?

Saw it in theatres twice. The Man of Steel teaser is amazing, for fans.

For general audiences, it's a 'WTF' type deal... but it's enough to get people's attention (which is all that matters).


The flying sequence looked amazing. It looked like the real Cavill, and not a CGI replicant. Yay for practical effects!


The film looks very gritty and Nolan-ish. It would blend seamlessly with TDKR, especially the Alaska and Smallville stuff.

I dont know about that. I don't think there's enough in that teaser to hook the GA just yet.

Pretty much all of that is 'been there, done that.' Nothing to diffrenciate this Superman as different, except maybe the 'Batman Begins' hobo look.


But this teaser just made gen audiences aware of this project and curious about it. I think that was the goal.

Yes, but that doesn't make my statement inaccurate.

When you have so many professional reviewers, and people associated with the production talking about how it isn't a CBM, and a gritty, realistic film... there is some strong merit to their statements.

Many of them are. And they would be wrong. They obviously don't have enough info about th ecomic book source material to compare it. And some of them wouldn't know gritty or realistic if it bit them in the ass.

If anything TDKR will prove my point about the realistic and grounded approach.

Bruce is basically Jack Bauer in that film and it shows the real human toll that a concept like Batman would have on him, physically and psychologically.

That's nice. It doesn't do it without feeling comic booky.

Bane has been drastically reinterpreted in TDKR as well, and it's actually a vast improvement over the less realistic character in the comics.

Uh...no.

Bane in Nolan's film is essentially Bane from the comics, without Venom and his specific origin elements, but very similar ones.

How that is "more interesting" is beyond me.

It looks gritty but hardly Nolanish. There's actually Malick-esque lyrical quality to the images; composed with an eye Nolan's bland images will never have.

That's not entirely fair, Chris Nolan is a very good director. It's just I don't think the Batman series has been his best vehicle to show it, apart from the chase scenes.

He is good. But not great. A great director should be able to compose a great shot even in a scene as mundane as two people talking. I'm glad you brought up chase scenes because that's the only time he is visually stimulating.

Oh, yeah I agree. However, I don't think he's reached his peak yet.

The biggest thing he brought to the Batman series was tone and aesthetic. A lot of the actual direction wasn't amazing, not like the writing, which is a good chunk Jonah. I feel The Prestige, Memento and Inception were much better displays of his talent.

All those films have the same problem: Nolan's sometimes borderline sloppy directing; Memento being the least offender. TDKR displays all of these bad habbits and tendencies at full gallop; and I hate to do this, it reminded me of a Michael Bay film. Shades of Transformers 3 as scenes come and go with the speed of Flash. Nolan doesnt slow it down when it needs to be slowed down. And the obnoxious Zimmer score nver frickin stops. More than a shade when it comes to plot holes, yikes. I am officially off the Nolan bandwagon; he needs to win me over all over again. I am NOT looking forward to his next film until I actually see it.
