All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - Part 11

Seriously, I expect angles like these. The "real" up-close side of being a superman.

Jonathan might not approve because of the Clark-vs-the-world's-mistrust and Clark's inability to be everywhere at all all times that might mess with his head. But I suspect Jonathan will still leave the decision to him, because of Clark's origin and heritage.

It would be cool if that kid in cape is Clark, and he just has this urge to save people,

It would. That would show that it's just a very basic side to him, and the Alaskan hideout is just a phase he's going through.

... in the comic con footage, the scene where Superman gets thrown into the bank vault, it seems to suggest his power level to some degree. He hits the vault and then collapses down as if he is slightly stunned by the impact.

May be that his powers and strength grows as he goes on...?

Any one else notice this?

Man, that would be badass.

I think it's more from the punch that landed him there.

I hope his powers are consistent, though there are issues with them they would probably need to address at some point.

The soul-seaching thing is probably due to
Jonathan's death
that he has a crisis about his powers and abilities and what to do with it if anything at all.

hardly. It could've been that he was punched through 20 blocks of buildings and finally landed there by the vault.

I don't think he's punched I reckon the army have blasted him with a cannon from a tank or something. If you watch the end part of the CC trailer when Superman steps to the side the army are there and it looks like its still in the bank.

Wow. okay just saw the HQ version. Just blown away. I prefer the speeches from the trailer because I thought the speech by Jor El was really good as well. I love em all.

Any theories on what that "Super Ring" in the footage is? At least I think it is a ring...

it looks awfully long for a ring..at least in the lousy version I saw.

Maybe it's a Key Fob for the space ship...

At least JorEl does a shirt rip, maybe he will follow in dad's foot steps...

The holster for the suit? Or the "crystal" for the ship and the FOS.

what is the object in the shot after Costners CU and the "ring" that looks like a Jacobs Ladder? In the version I saw it is very blurry but seems to look like an electric Jacobs Ladder.

Yeah, "the ring" seems to be a device where a message from Jor-el is stored.

I think...

I can say with absolute certainty that the cold shots of alaska are how the film begins. All this kid and smallville stuff will exist in flashbacks while clark earns his keep on the boat. We'll probably learn why he went into self exile(his dad) just before or just after his big oil tanker scene. Then putting on the ring or something it takes him to the fortress, which is another ship, here he speaks to JOr el for the first time and as a man. He heads to the city not knowing that he triggered Zods return by way of a beacon sent from the ship or even a phantom zone generator. Aliens cause a big mess and superman tires to save the day only to be blamed along with them.

That's not to say all the Krypton stuff doesn't take up a large part of the running time.

bet on it.

posted this in the comic con thread but wanted to post here as well, just copying it word for word

Looks good to me. Also dunno if this has been stated yet but if you pause at 1:37 supes is flying down what looks to be the side of a building while the other bigger, bulkier person is goin up. Are we supposed to believe this is Zod or is it another character altogether. Once again all speculation on my part be he seems much bigger then Supes and definately Michael Shannon for that matter.

So, analyzing Cavill's expression as he sees the school bus, I think he feels somehow regret or at least some sort of bad memory. Maybe people are going to call him a freak? Do you think that in the Tornado scene when he is in Kansas university, Clark is going to lose his father and therefore he is going to fill guilty about being close to people? Hence why he chooses to live as fisherman in Alaska, away from everything and everyone he loves?

But then the oil rig scene happens and he feels that he can't let people suffer anymore and needs to step up and be Superman.

Anyone else excited for a slo-mo signature Snyder punch to Zod's face? This guy is!

what if it's not zod? what if it's ty-zor from the flyby script jj abrams wrote?? yes i know goyer wrote the film and the nolans tweaked it, but many adaptations like this take things from past scripts, like how returns took superman's listening post and the part where he heat visions the falling glass. that was from flyby.

If its a guy named Ty-Zor I`m going to puke in the movie theater.

So...Michael Shannon has been lying about being Zod? I don't follow.

And SUPERMAN RETURNS didn't exactly steal JJ Abrams "Superman listens" scene. Its been in the comics for years, and SUPERMAN RETURNS presented a completely different one, and elaborated on it in the scene between Superman and Lois.

no. Michael Shannon is playing zod.warner bros announce Michael Shannon as playing zod. Snyder Release a statement on the casting and this what he said.Snyder stated, "Zod is not only one of Superman's most formidable enemies, but one of the most significant because he has insights into Superman that others don't

Curious now with the re-telling of the saga (which is fine with me) how much screen time Superman will get? 30%? 35%? Less? We will see.
