Pretty sure it's a sure thing we'll be starting on Krypton. I expect we'll be spending 20 minutes or more there.

I would love the movie to blend the realistic Batman Begins character stuff with the Avengers large scale action sequences.

The way I see it, the movie have to start on krypton. How will they established black zero, zod, faora, jor-el, The send off of kal-el, The fall of krypton ect.I can't see them telling the story properly with flashbacks.I think we will see flashbacks at some point.Krypton will play a huge role in the story , I can't see how krypton can be told with flashbacks and be done justice.

Yeah I think it'll probably be like that.

All I hope is that it doesn't cut straight from Kal-el being shot out into space, to Martha and Jonathon finding the baby, to teenage Clark etc etc.

I hope it goes from Krypton, to Clark in Alaska, to Clark visiting Smallville and having flashbacks of memories when he grew up there etc etc.

But the F-35B was in Avengers...Unless they mean the F-35A or the F-35C....

I had read somewhere that the military didn't let the avengers use the actual jets because of the portrayal of the military in the film or something along those lines. Don't have the link to the article.

^ The Pentagon had problems with S.H.I.E.L.D. and their place in the American government.

Considering the U.S. Army has a big role in Man of Steel, it makes sense the production is allowed to use real army equipment.

In-Universe, I expect the F-35B to the "game changer" of the final battle. It makes narrative sense.

I like the sound of that, and would definitely help them set the film apart from other versions of the origin story. Still, I wouldn't completely discount the linear approach yet.

Thanks protocida, I couldnt remember exactly what the issue was but I knew there was a reason for it.

It's almost hard to believe that a movie that's painted like what we've seen the the teaser:
Man-of-Steel-630x420.jpg

is going to have a huge robot/zod war with Superman in the middle of it on the Big Screen. :woot: Definitely looking forward to this.
This is a good point. But check out the clip of the object crashing into the side of a building in Metropolis in the CC footage. It matches very nicely. There's a hyper-realism (think Chronicle) in that shot that really meshes with the Malick-inspired trailer. The idea of a robot army shot in that hyper-realism style is so damn cool.

Totally agree, I think people are panicking way too much about the balance and tone of this film we know barely anything even the robots are speculation right now although I think well be seeing them myself.

The idea of a robot army in a Superman movie just sounds awesome, I'm sorry but it does. I mean how can you call yourself a fan of these types of films and not want something like that? Superman isn't Batman, he isn't human. Superman is a super strong flying alien who can shoot lasers from his eyes, you damn right I want a huge action/fight scene showing him just blasting and punching away. "If" a Robot army is in the film I will be crying with joy if everything else in the movie is good and or decent. I'll finally have the Superman movie I want.

2nd time today I'm gonna agree with you completely

Hell yeah! MOS is going to be nothing like SR. Supes is definitely going to do way more than lift stuff and get his ass beat.

I saw like one or two posts worried about that rumor or fact or whatever the hell it is and I was just seriously baffled. I think it's odd to want Superman to be as grounded as Batman, not only is it odd, it's freakin impossible.

Exactly this is Superman, an alien with abilities far beyond those of mortal men of course there has to be that element of the fantastic.

I have to admit at first I hated the idea of this movie even remotely having a grounded tone, I mean Superman Returns had that tone and I didn't like the way it was handled in that film so I was more than a little leery having one or two Nolan's on board but I decided to give the whole thing a shot and liked and still like what I've been hearing (I don't know anything that you guys don't, I just mean the info that has been leaking out) and personally, I liked the teaser. Do I think that it was the best bussiness choice to release such a teaser after the tepid response to Returns? No, but they can make up for that with the trailer. I'm digging the Terrence Malicky vibe and I like the suit and I like the cast so I'm very optimistic. It's not a blind optimism though as I stopped being blindly optimistic years ago when it comes to cinema and life to be honest.

I think people overreacted to the 'grounded' angle. Most assumed that since The Nolans were attached to this film, Man of Steel would be as gritty and dark as The Dark Knight Trilogy. That was never going to be the case however. Nolan, himself, talked about how they would approach Superman in the modern sense with Sci-Fi elements that have been missing in the past, and reiterated the point that Superman is not Batman.

Yeah I'll be honest I liked the teaser but I definitely they should have released the con trailer or some variation of it. I do agree what was said on the Modern Media Podcast the trailer shouldnt have just said oh there's a Superman film coming, it should have said there's a Superman film coming and it looks cool as hell. Luckily though the films got another chance to do that with another big film The Hobbit. If I were WB I'd stick a kickass trailer with Twilight and a preview with IMAX versions of the Hobbit in Dec but we'll probably just get the next trailer with Hobbit.

Btw I want to say I wouldn't even go see Twilight to see the trailer I just think Twilight would be a good chance to show all the ladies Henry Cavill.

The more I think about it, the more excited I get about it. It might end up representing a jarring tone shift, but I'm excited at the prospect of a very realistic feeling world suddenly bombarded with the very fantastical. I like the idea of a giant robot army showing up in a Terrance Malick looking film.

Superman Returns had a pretty far from grounded tone. It was very stylized in a retro, almost cartoonish tone. Nothing about it made you think "these are real people in real situations."

And I'll repeat myself again about grounding a film in reality:

"Grounded in reality" means "What if this fantastical thing actually happened in real life?"

It doesn't make the fantastical thing not fantastical. It just views it through a different lens. How can people actually not get this? It's a pretty simple concept.

Take the movies Signs and Independence Day. Could everything that happened in Independence Day also have happened in Signs? Yes, absolutely. Would it have made sense in the context of the movie? Absolutely not. If you can't appreciate Signs because it's "too realistic" and not as fantastical as Independence Day, the problem isn't with the movie, it's with you.

Well I've seen all of the Twilight films and will be seeing the final one, if they put it with Breaking Dawn: Part 2 I will be one happy camper.

As FilmNerdJamie said it would be a great idea to put the trailer infront of a girls picture that it is a lock to gross over 250mil domestically and even more internationally. It should be infront of The Hobbit as well but I think they should take advantage of the Twilight thing, just market the hell out of Henry Cavill's good looks my fellow ladies.

I felt that the tone and how the movie was shot was in the grounded variety. I know I thought that (and still think that)because I remember how jarring the silly unfunny comedy bits were.

Exactly. A lot of people dont seem to understand the balances of this and its awesome potential. If they find that balance of the real-world setting that is introduced to the fantastical element and is turned upside down in the process while still maintaining the focus, then that's at least 1/3 of a battle won right there. A way to stand out and and a path to success.

This is imo where the avengers-universe fails. They may not want the "reality" in that universe, but that's why they dont leave much impact either. They're just too safe in formula. There's no pain.

Avengers was okay but it was Cotton Candy to me. It doesn't stay with you for more han a mintue. I saw it once and litterally have no desire to ever see it again. Do I hope that Superman is better than that film an stays with me more? sure. Hell, I didn't think that Rises was too much better, it had almost as many problems as the Avengers but at least it didn't feel as airy. I am litterally baffled at the reception for Avengers, just baffled. Whatever...

lol Now I just angered both fanbases. *hides*
