Wasn't there word that WB was liking what they saw so far with MoS? Still not sure how audiences will take to this new Superman film but I'm optimistic for a sequel based on what we have been hearing.

I think this film has a far greater chance for a sequel. Even if it underperforms a little box-office wise.

WB is looking for new areas to expand after the end of Nolan's Batman, Harry Potter and the failure of Green Lantern.

I think they're putting a lot of hope into this. Hopefully we'll get a trilogy - Man of Steel, Last Son of Krypton and Man of Tomorrow.

Not sure just how much input Nolan provided, but it's not Goyer's own doing. Him saying he wrote the script singlehandedly is just BS. He might have written it technically, but the ideas came from multiple sources, even previous scripts its sounds like.

Sorry but a hell of a lot more goes into a screenplay other than plot points. If Goyer wrote the script, he deserves all the credit in the world.

They said the same about Green Lantern and then hired writers for a sequel. We all know what happened there. They were so confident and it bombed big time. Difference I see here is I trust the people working on Man of Steel to make one hell of a movie and from what I've seen I'm confiedent MOS will deliver (not to mention it has one of the best casts I've ever seen for a movie) although I do worry about audiences seeing it, I'm hoping the whole Nolan creators of the Dark Knight thing convinces people who aren't interested to give it a chance.

Yeah I know you were, its interesting I wonder how much money they're saving by doing that.
At the end of the day, probably very little. Even if (say) costume or script details were “borrowed” from prior (paid for) projects, MOS still had to hire its own costume designer and writer - and pay them at their going rate.

If anything at all, it may have sped up the process and they can feel better about what they spent on past projects since it's inspiring the new stuff.

Goyer talks MOS - http://collider.com/superman-man-of-steel-david-s-goyer-interview/199144/:

“What Christopher Nolan and I have done with Superman is try to bring the same naturalistic approach that we adopted for the Batman trilogy. We always had a naturalistic approach, we want our stories to be rooted in reality, like they could happen in the same world we live in. It’s not that easy with Superman, and actually this doesn’t necessarily mean we will make a dark movie. But working on this reboot we are thinking about what would happen if a story like this one actually happened. How would people react to this? What impact would the presence of Superman in the real world have? What I really like to do is write ‘genre’ stories without a cartoonish element. I did the same with Da Vinci’s Demons, and I’ll do the same with Man of Steel.”

What sweet music to my ears.

Blah blah blah, more of the goddamn same!

It's edgy. It's a reinterpretation. It's real world-based. I've been hearing that crap since 2011. What ELSE???

If it weren't for all the illegally obtained stuff, I seriously could see myself having lost interest in this movie ages ago.

I really think regardless of the court case if Chris Nolan approached them with an idea they'd have listened anyway.

Love, love, love these quotes. The "cartoonish" comment hits the nail on the head.

Good Lord, I just wish they would release something new. Just a HD version of the Comic Con footage would be fine. That's all I need. I just want to see that clearly. I guess we'll get something with The Hobbit, but it still seems so far away.

It's a little over two months. Not that long really.

With Chris Nolan and David Goyer working together, that was to be expected, but I needed to hear it, I suppose. I hope this is the concept WB carries over for Justice League.

Has anything MoS related been announced for the NY Comic Con this month? Everyones predicting a trailer in front of The Hobbit, shouldn't we be predicting something to come out of this Con? Perhaps not footage but some licensing stuff, a new poster maybe?

Affleck said they were planning to carry over this style into the JL movie.

Well I, for one, am sick of grounded realistic approaches. That's all anybody says when they make a superhero movie anymore, that they want it to be grounded.

**** that. The entire idea of superheroes relies on the concept that it couldn't happen. I want to see more crazy, outlandish **** in superhero movies.

For Superman I think you have to be willing to blend the fantastic with the realistic. One without the other is like bread with no butter.

Theres only been one franchise that's ever taken this approach.

Yeah like an alien with superpowers....oh wait that's already in the film. Superman and most of his villains aren't realistic, and everyone knows that. The goal is to treat the world and characters in a serious manner and to make things somewhat relatable to the audience
