All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - Part 2

I don't think that indicates Snyder copies the Matrix in his style.

An amazing coincidence?

I just think it shows the Matrix was on of the first too use a style that is now frequent in action cinema.

That's what happens when others copy style. Instead of making the original unique, they made it just "the first of many." The style in Matrix wasn't floating around waiting for directors to use it and Matrix was merely the first one to do it.

No, that was just ONE of my points. Spirit of source material aimed at fans and all the other stuff aimed at the general movie going public that they eat up.

Now, your trying to tell me what my points are?

Jeez...

I can agree with that. Being faithful to the ideas, concepts, and overall characterizations of the characters from the source material certainly doesn't harm the chances of a box office success when it comes to comic book superhero films, or any adaptation for that matter. Being faithful and having a general audience appeal aren't mutually exclusive things. Generally, franchises like Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man have stuck around because they appeal to people, which can often transfer to a film that capitalizes on it.

This lack of news is REALLY disturbing. :(

Indeed.

I really hope we get a official plot synopsis that actually gives us an idea as to what the story in MOS is officially about and where it may go by August.

I'm betting that we'll get our first teaser released when TDKR is released.

Yes, but you were accusing Snyder specifically of being a copy cat... and i'm just saying that is an unfair accusation, because any 'matrix style' remnants that you have picked up on in 300 are IMO not born of 'oooh let's copy the Matrix style', but just of him utilising a style that had been established for 7 years by the time 300 came out.

It doesn't make him a copy cat. It just means he's using the artistic styles that are popular and that most suit his film. And they very much do suit his films IMO.

But as i've said, there has never been a moment where i've gone 'oh look how Matrixy that was', because unless they are doing stuff like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXAwUF0kbEI , it's not just not something I would find noticeable.

Okay folks, time for a recap!

It was a big week in No Superman News as No One was officially announced as Lex Luthor! That's right, after years of speculation by fans, Warner Brothers and DC decided it was best to give fans what they wanted... even more time to speculate and fight and dissect the acting ability and appearance of every single actor in existence because as we all know, NO ONE IS SUITED TO ANY ROLE IN ANY MOVIE WHATSOEVER! Which is what makes this Lex casting so spot on.

THIS JUST IN: Warner Brothers has released this OFFICIAL IMAGE of No One as Lex Luthor!

Also this week in non-casting, nobody was announced for the roles of Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, Jor-El, Lara and Brainiac! Speaking of Brainiac, we're still not sure if he's in the movie or not, but that's what's so great about months of nothing... you get dream up a better movie than the one you'll probably get!

On the Faora/Ursa/Other Random Evil Kryptonian Babe front, WB/DC STILL has yet to confirm who Antje Traue is playing, or if she's even in the movie in the first place. When asked about it, an inside source and WB said, "No one has heard of her, so we didn't think people would really care if we made an announcement. I'm not sure if she's in the movie either. What day is it?"

Finally this week, someone made a parody of Smallville! And that's important because WB really thinks you care about Smallville, much more than the $250 million Man of Steel movie. Hence the reason they did a sh**load of promotion for the final episode, in which Clark puts on a blue t-shirt and you see his head fly!

Tune in next week, when we'll report on what Krypton probably won't look like, we'll show you a couple of fan made movie posters and we'll have an exclusive interview with Henry Cavill on the set of The Count of Monte Cristo.

^Thanks for the real news.

Much better than when idiots make things up and then other idiots show up to make excuses for them.

Heh, no problem. This is what happens when we go for a long period of time with nothing. I start to lose my mind, lol.

Jeez...

How am I telling you what your points are...when you just said it was one of your points.

Are you ok?

I don't know how I feel about Lex wearing sunglasses.

How the hell can they own the cape, his and his "jumping"

I don't think both parties could proceed without each other. The estates have the copyright to Action Comics No. 1 (which includes Superman's costume, his origins and Lois Lane etc) while WB have his ability to fly, Lex Luthor and Superman's other powers etc.

So like I said above, they have to work something out between each other. So hopefully they come with some agreement in the near future.

so what would you prefer a naked flying superman or a jumping blue caped fully costumed superman

Neither of them. :o

He doesn't necessarily have to be naked. If WB can't retain his costume, they could just redesign a new costume.

BUT, just in case things don't get worked out, WB and Snyder had better pull out all the stops for THIS film.

IMO it's clear that the main target of this movie is to solve the controversy.

After reading that very well thought out speculative article,
I think it could be true that Man of Steel could contain elements of a potential Post-2013 Superman.
I think it bears mention that WB would also retain the familiar Superman 'S' shield logo besides the power of flight, kryptonite, Fortress of Solitude, and many other aspects of the legend which were carved by the sweat of other creators.
IMO the creators families and WB should come to an agreement, otherwise Superman will be split in two. But in case that doesn't happen,
a post 2013 WB Superman would still fly and retain the traditional 'S' shield but would not use Clark Kent as a disguise and would be called The Man of Steel in the manner that Captain Marvel is referred to as Shazam.
Now the big question to everyone here....
Do you all really think the suits behind the Snyder flick do not have all this in mind? I think they are thinking about sequels...now.
As a contingency plan, they may reveal a second costume, alternate secret identity, etc., in Superman:Man of Steel to prepare and saturate the minds of the general public.....just in case!
After all, the name of the movie is Man of Steel and not Superman: Man of Steel.
Maybe.
Maybe this is the real reason they rebooted Superman instead of allowing Singer and co. a round two.
I just can't imagine WB thinking, "oh well, we will likely lose 1/2 the character in another year. Forget planning potential sequels now and just make Man of Steel a good movie."
The fans may think that way but not the suits.

All they care about is $$$$ and in Man of Steel's case, that means making sure Man of Steel is an investment that pays off further as Man of Steel 2, Man of Steel 3, etc.

you didnt read the article then...if MOS is a hit and sequels continue it will be with current Superman, cape, flying...all of that stuff
If it fails and down the road they want to do another Superman reboot they wont have the stuff that the families would own

this movie is being called Man of steel in the same way TDK was called The Dark Knight and not Batman:The Dark Knight
