WTF is that? Looks like someone mated Superman with the Ironman from the 70s. Or a character from Masters of the Universe. Ugly and... POINTLESS!

Unless.. they're slowly revealing a completely new look altogether bit by bit.

Great post. It's basically what I first thought when I saw this image... It looks like half of Superman matched with half of some other hero. It just looks... off, an attempt at next gen or cutting-edge that looks just the opposite.

Not really. Only that they're going to try to make him relevant for "our times"

And what is that supposed to mean? "Our times"? He is an iconic character. You change him too much and he isn't Supes anymore. I'm a little unsure if this is gonna be any good. Snyder did a great job with Watchmen, but it doesn't mean he will with Superman.

I hope this is one of those evolution things...my fear is that DC/Warners know something about this lawsuit that they're bracing for....That they're starting to make changes to the suit and god knows what else so the character can still be used if the rights revert back to the Siegel/Shuster estate.

Snyder did a great job with Watchmen, but it doesn't mean he will with Superman.

Snyder hasn't made a real crowd-pleasing hit since 300....I hope that Sucker Punch gave him a real wake-up call(no pun intended) and he's serious about making a real, quality film again. Superman can't afford to have another mediocre, mixed reaction to his next film.

Watchmen... nope. It failed with general audiences and got a lukewarm reaction from critics and comicbook fans. I liked the film's script... I actually met the writers, but Snyder's direction was crap IMO.


SuckerPunch was definitely a major fail.

Does anyone else thinks it's just kind of boring as a peice of art as well. They've blacked out his face, which is probably the most difficult part to draw, and the background is jus t blue sky and grey rock...

The cape doesnt even look like a cape... it looks like that guy wearing a Superman T-Shirt with his scabby Jeans just blew his nose on a red hanky and threw it away while reaching up into a rock for something...

It's not his costume. It's a promo image apparently, for the new Action comics, in which they are going back to the idea of him being the first ever super-hero. So I guess thats an early costume, or just an image that means nothing.

wasn't people saying the art was by George Perez for Superman #1??? That's wrong. He didn't do the artwork. He wrote the story, and it's illustrated by Jesus Merino

The bombshell announcement is probably that the new Metro sexual Superman is so hairy he is going to get a Super-Brazilian. Was Robin William's the inspiration for those forearms and hands?
