Reading the tea leaves, a JL script reset could be an indication of how pleased WB is with MOS - that they don’t want the next appearance of their new Superman to be in a half-assed or cartoony effort that undermines things for MOS sequels.

That's exactly what I was thinking and hoping for as soon as WB said they were gonna wait to see how MoS would go financially and then decide on JL's fate.

Well we do have to remember that Warner Bros. was also the company that was pleased with the dailies for Batman and Robin prior to its release to the point where they started early pre-production on doing another film with Clooney and O'Donnell.lol

Cos they thought that's what people wanted after BF (light-heartedness) and decided to give people more of that, to the max. But now the CBM climate is much more defined and the writers are capable to not f**k things up, a la GL (which, really, followed the BB formula, but didn't know what made BB work so well).

Necessarily, studios have to be cheerleaders for every one of their productions. But the positive buzz building for MOS seems to be over and above that. At least, that’s my impression.

...... and almost completely killed the Batman franchise till Nolan revived it.

If you had put something like that out a year or even worse, two years after Ironman, it wouldn't have made 1 and another half billion with a near impossible 3day opening. No chance.
It may have made somewhere north of "Xmen" money. Selling cap and thor and hulk before their own films had telling returns.

If WB release their Avengers film before the solos, it simply won't perform in such a way. Moving forward that might work for them but the standard for success has been set. Why they are so keen on not only conceding to the L right off but assuring the L with a rushed project is dumb.

again, why WB feels the need to hit a massively busy year like 2015 while they still have their own problems to fix just seems misguided to me.

2016 makes alot more sense. It's not like they plan on releasing JL before Avengers 2.

People keep taking about Xmen as if it's some sort of bar for success. Um, the films don't make that much money. What's interesting is what would happen if they employed the marvel strategy.

That rumor of page one rewrite for JL gives me hope that WB aren't ******ed.

Call it lack of imagination, I don't care, I just can't envision JL working within the MOS/TDK universe. I just can't.

My ideal scenario is they start JL after 2020 when the MOS trilogy is complete and proudly sits next to the TDK trilogy with most heralding them as the best of the genre with their adult takes on these icons and themes. Recast Superman and Batman and start a new continuity from JL with it being much more lighter and colorful fare akin to the Avengers.

Dunno how close to MOS that is, but a live-action JL done in that tone would kick ASS! Some designs would have to be redone obviously, but as a whole they nail a serious and yet adventurous setting.
