Well we are in the age of secretive film making popularized by JJ Abrams and Nolan.

The funny thing is, all of Nolan's Batman films were spoiled before their release. One by the novel for the film. :woot:

If they can care about giant robots punching each other or a man in an Iron suit with a big green rage monster punching ugly aliens, I don't see why they wouldn't care about a badass looking Supes punching giant robots and leveling cities during battles with his enemies. I mean, isn't that what sells? Why else did Transformers 3 make 1,1 billion dollars WW after the turd that was Transformers 2 (and with a June release date) ?? Of course, that had a badass SB spot showcasing the selling point while WB seems to think MOS will sell just because it's Superman and Nolan. :o

Well sometimes they don't, which is why not every tentpole movie is a hit. You can "why" me all day, but the subject matter doesn't always sell. For every movie you list, I can list just as many flicks about the same subject matter that fails.

Yep I read the script for Batman Begins online and all three films had plenty of spoilers floating around.

Are you telling me that every big budget CGI fest doesn't succeed?!!!!!

I think we could see a similar situation that we saw with b.b., a decent b.o. with excellent wom and dvd sales that lead on to tdk and rises. I hope i'm wrong and it makes 350 million dom. Its hard to say how the public will react to it.

Rises had it the worst. I've never seen a production that prided itself in being secretive routinely having its secrets blown open like that film. Ironically, the Avengers was able to hold onto most of its secrets until the advanced screenings. I guess, in this case, announcing how goddamn secretive you are gonna be was decidedly counter intuitive.

Did someone say cupcakes?

I want cupcakes!

You will see cupcakes...and more!

:word:

ask and ye shall receive!!

Too bad he didn't see it. Same guy claims he was supposed to be Jon Stewart in Green Lantern... when he wasn't.

Yet another example if it's something you wanna hear... you immediately believe it.

Did he really lie about being John Stewart? I thought he claimed that he made a cameo as John Stewart, but that the cameo was eventually cut from the final film.

At any rate, while this is certainly the news that I want to hear, I still recognize the possibility that he's lying. In fact, I'm fully cognizant of it; my initial reaction to reading his tweet was, "why was he allowed to attend the screening? Could he be lying?" But, ultimately, while I'm unsure of the credibility of the buzz, I can still be extremely excited that the buzz itself is so positive.

guys!!! I have a confession to make.

I've already seen MOS. I saw it several months ago, in fact, at a private screening.

and it was a complete and utter disappointment.

I thought it was supposed to be about a man made out of steel......y'know, like a robot or cyborg or something.........

instead, all I saw in the film was some man in a red cape flying around and shooting lasers out of his eyes......

they........lied..........LIED!!!! :argh::argh::argh:

................

but the screening I went to did serve cupcakes, so all in all, it wasn't too bad of an experience.

:oldrazz:

(and lest there be any misunderstanding............yes, I am being totally sarcastic. I did not see MOS. There was no private screening. And........there were no cupcakes.......)

I had another Superman dream last night! Ha, my last one I put in this thread was this one.

So in this one it started out with me… I guess I myself was portraying Christopher Reeve’s Superman and I was in my room when I heard some racket outside and saw headlights racing by pretty quickly. I looked through my blinds and then saw a small van crash into the garage in the house at the end of my street. I immediately whip out the Superman colors and fly down there. What I see is a man stumbling out of the van and leaning on a car hurt, and it was Henry Cavill’s Clark Kent. So it was basically 2 Supermans in this world. I knew that he was a Superman too and I needed to protect his identity.

For some reason though, and this was explained with my thought process in the dream or something, Henry’s Clark wasn’t fully Superman (his body wasn’t ready or something, similar to my last dream) and he had a gash on his forehead that was shining blue. This exposure, I guess to our atmosphere, made his body incredibly cold and you could see his breath and he was getting worse. Apparently, severe injuries before you’re fully transformed into Superman made for a freezing spell on him in my world. I told him I needed to get him out of there before paramedics came to protect his identity and so that he could soon take on his responsibilities.

I picked him up and flew around the city trying to find a safe place to help him recover and flew to the top of a skyscraper. Up there (I think I was like feeding him something) I helped him recuperate and he was in a Superman outfit but there was no S on his chest. Just the yellow plate and over time an S slowly started to fill in with how much better he was doing and recovering. I also joked with him while he was recovering saying "First time?" in regards to putting on the suit and he was able to squeeze out a "Yeah." with a slight smile because he was running on E. At one point though, I had to fly him to another part of the city because the actor Bill Duke (I guess his character was a general of some sort) was searching the building with a partner and while he wasn’t looking for me I couldn’t be seen by him and just barely made it out of the area when he and his partner stepped out of the elevator to the section of the building we were in (which was under construction).

Eventually I found another building, got him back on his feet as he was no longer freezing or injured. And we both ended up back on the ground and it was 2 Clark Kents walking through a building together. It was in a bit of an upbeat new beginning type of vibe :funny:, we all know Christopher Reeve and his unforgettable charm as Clark and so it was that Clark alongside Henry as I was excited to be able to help this young guy back on his feet to take my place. Pretty cool dream as I got to fly around again :awesome: Always fun.

I think the sight of those 2 Clarks next to each other was another added plus because it was Christopher-Reeve-Clark circa ‘70s/’80s alongside this new Clark Kent which I don’t know much about yet but still pretty great.

WB don't so super bowl spots. Troy, Speed Racer, Poseidon, Batman Begins all got them and disappointed opening weekend. The Dark knights and Harry Potters didnt, and opened huge anyway. They're not that important any more. If you hit a home run with it, it can be effective, but it isn't the 1990s anymore, when ID4, MIB, Godzilla all got them and instantly became the summers most hyped films.

Besides, the trailers aired before 2 films which combined to make ~750m in the USA and near 2 billion world wide. Exposure its going to be much of an an issue.

Strangely enough the films on that list that had spots also kinda stunk, and inversely the ones that didn't were big "good" solid cinema. The execs are kinda like pigeons when it comes to extrapolating data.

Anyways, post avengers bump not withstanding, anyone noticing how those three high profile superbowl spots has kinda pushed the general audience buzz for those three films ahead of superman at this particular time and date. Missed opportunity.
Ironman's strategy stepped in it and still he reaps the benefits.

From what I heard about ComicCon, that Godzilla footage they showed was designed for a superbowl spot.

Hey look. Some jerk on this website says Man of Steel 2 is already being written...

What a tool. How can they begin thinking about MOS2 when MOS isn't even out yet and they can't get a Justice League movie off the grou....Oooooh I see what you did there...

in all seriousness it's cool to see some of FNJ's feedback he's heard but not outright posted here unless I missed it?

Good point. It would make sense I guess.
