$318 million domestic gross. Definitely.
In the box office? Really? I wasnt sure. Ok then.
i think GL is doing pretty good. it has a high chance doing better than SR, just like Thor.
The two concepts aren't mutually exclusive. A good adventure/action film should have solid character development. But, you have to remember that Nolan and Goyer developed the story for MoS, so its not just going to be an adventure and action flick. Its going to have an interesting story with characters that grow and develop over the course of the film.
James Cameron is not a great filmmaker.
Good news!
Here is something of interest,

Sure, the article is about the impending dissolution of the marriage, but there is something mentioned by Didio, that confirms what some of us have said about the true purpose behind Flashpoint Superman, that being to make the comic book Superman resemble the version we will see in Man of Steel.
From the article,
While the overall DC re-launch – and plans to release digital editions of its comics on the same day of the print issues – has been designed to provide a greater appeal to new readers at a time when DC-based films including “Green Lantern,” “The Dark Knight Rises” and “Superman: The Man of Steel” are poised to introduce the company’s characters to a new generation, Didio says the decision to alter decades of continuity, revamp some superheroes and bring others back to basics wasn’t specifically intended to better reflect the movie storylines.
“We're developing this all ourselves right now, so that's the good part about it,” he says, though readers new and old can expect a decent amount of creative cross-pollination with concepts from Hollywood (DC Entertainment recently opened a Los Angeles office dedicated to overseeing its movie tie-in and digital publishing efforts in concert with parent company Warner Bros.). “We really keep the comics focused for themselves and where we're going with them, but the real thing is that with Geoff Johns in his position as Chief Creative Officer, he's our top writer, but also he's involved in the movies and books. And he really understands our characters at the core. And knows really what makes them work, not just as comic book characters, but really as multimedia characters.”
That confirms that Man of Steel is an influence on the "new" Superman we will be enjoying soon.
I'm now convinced that the new Superman costume in the comics and merchandising, as used on the new Converse shoe, will be the same that Cavill will wear in the Man of Steel.
It's an exciting time to be a Superman fan!
seeing as how the new DC suit has most fans facepalming....how is this GOOD news?
ugh, really???Its pretty obvious that they re trying to promote their comics with the movies so if even comics superman doesnt have panties, you can be sure that his movie counterpart wont either.
It's not panties, it's trunks. It urks me when folks call them panties just to pi$$ others off. The more you do it, the more resistance you'll meet against change.
if the new DC suit is the best that professional movie concept artists can come up with and/or WB and Nolan will allow to appear on the screen...then that's a pretty big fail. i'm not even opposed to changing the suit and/or removing the trunks but if that's the best that Snyder and co. will give us, then this will be the first costume from Snyder's movies that i actually DON'T like. The suits will be very close if not identical. I just dont get the armoured look.
SHH is probably one of the biggest collectives of movie and comic fans on the net. if there's any indication of how the fanbase would react to the new suit, i'd say that this is a pretty good one. if we were on a video game forum, it would be different but this forum directly deals with films based on comics. even if you want to discredit these boards, you can't discredit the entirety of the internet...which has a plethora of articles from various websites (both comic related and general) with comments expressing the similar distaste for the new suit as the comments made on these boards. To say "the new DC suit has most fans facepalming" is quite an exaggeration.
Sure, an insignificant number of fanboys, who post here and there, may not like it, but that is not at all representative of "most fans"
yeah well, my dog saw the image and farted...FYI My ten year old nephew , who happens to be a huge superhero fan, just saw the George Perez cover for Superman #1, and he thinks it's "cool".
Superman IS much more than a costume, but the costume COMPLETES Superman. again, i don't mind so much that they took away his trunks...but the design just isn't inspired. i'm open to a new costume as long as it looks good...i wish i could say the same for SOME people. The truth is that the lack of red underwear didn't make him think Superman was any less Super, because in his mind, Superman is much more than just a costume. I wish I could say the same for some people.

I love the new suit and so do many other fans.

You have it back to front. The people such as yourself that want the costume changed, or the trunks ditched, are an insignificant number of fan boys. Those that want the classic retained massively outnumber you guys.
