I'm thinking more and more that the second trailer is being released with IM3 and I seriously doubt that it won't have action in it.

And I think that the posters are hitting in April unless they come out this week.

I think you are misunderstanding what the term means. Of course Superman stories are told from his perspective. A supporting protagonist doesn't change that fact. It's just a way of saying that there is another character that often offers perspective in a story that is greater than your average supporting character.

Superman is the star of this narrative. That's not in dispute. I would, however, dispute that his POV is the only one that is needed for a truly complete story. I think there's a reason that most of the time in live action we see her POV...because it helps us further understand the fictional world we are in and provides more emotional resonance for the story.
Of course, this form was used to great effect in the original Sherlock Holmes stories. The first-person narrator, Watson, is also a main character (though not the protagonist). It’s especially useful when the hero is represented as enigmatic (or a genius detective). If the reader were inside the hero’s head, much of the enigma (or, in Holmes' case, the dramatic, clue-solving revelations) would be diluted. But the POV of a second person serves as an audience surrogate - making observations, being surprised, posing questions from a “normal” perspective.

With respect to Superman, there’s a key difference between comics and movies. The former liberally employs “thought bubbles” - so it’s possible to know what Supes thinks and how he feels. But narration in movies is relatively rare. So insights into his character must be accomplished via dialogue. Now, Supes is unlikely to get personal with - or unburden his soul to - just anyone. Lois, though, is almost ideal for that purpose.

Btw, I’m enjoying your posts.

I would definitely want an action-packed trailer with epic music.. Just like this:

to me that music is way to generic

Releasing the trailer with Iron Man 3 would be very smart. As that film will most likely have a big audience.

I am enjoying them as well.
Thanks to you,
I have learned about someting I did not know .
Supporting Protagonist.
Very Cool.

Yeah it would make more sense than 42

May 3rd though?
That is waiting quite awhile for a trailer release.
A month and a half before the movie comes out?
Risky.

You can release it earlier but still attach it to Iron Man 3. I remember seeing a DKR trailer attached to either Avengers or Amazing Spiderman even though it had already been released.

I think the final trailer of TDKR was released online before the premieres of Avengers and TASM.

Yes. TDKR trailer was released before Avengers and ASM. That's my point. It was released ahead of those films but managed to make it's way into my movie theater attached to one of them. I can't remember which one. So you can have the best of both worlds. You can debut the next MOS trailer in April and still have it appear with IRON MAN 3. To me, that's the smart thing to do.

Sorry, STARMAN, I was still a little sleepy, I misread your comment. :funny:

But yeah, I hope they release it online before they attach it to anything. Not that I'm not going to see IM3, but the sooner, the better. :)

I understand, Norek.

Anyway. We both agree. The sooner the better.

Actually yeah that's a really good point. Infact probably be best to release it with something else as for a smaller movie it might get more press.

Release the trailer in April. Have it go viral. Get all the buzz. Let it have all the attention by itself. Then keep the buzz going by attaching it to Iron Man 3. That's what I would do.

The trailer being attached with IM3 is pretty much a given, but I'm not sure it will debut with IM3.

Theyre still completely going abt this in yhe wrong way. This isnt batman where the name can sell itself

Superman in a different light needs to be shown and spread. Releasing action based or vfx heavy still photos would do much better. By now there shud have been a zod reveal or something. Viral marketing showing off krypton or a full reveal of jor el. Or even an action heavy shot or two. Having these lame interviews talking abt how epic it is wont do much unless this was spider man or batman which cud sell themselves on name alone

How they are going ''wrong'' about it ?

They aren't lol. As fans we just want to see as much as we possibly can as soon as we possibly can. It's never enough, until the next poster or trailer, and then we're satisfied for a while.

I still think the original comic con trailer has been the most powerful so far. The music, the choice of lines, all the things we got to see (clark's baby ship, the fos, an explosion in metropolis from a shaky pov cam, clark flying straight at the camera through clouds, clark and lois kissing, bearded clark on fire, clark walking into the daily planet and putting on glasses - not to mention all the stuff that's also in the other trailers.

I'm not saying I wanna see that as the next full trailer, but it would be cool if eventually we do get that released online as well :)

P.s. Saw Oz the Great and Powerful yesterday and was chuffed to see the MOS trailer in front of it :)

The thing that makes me a little worried is that last year with tdkr, way before the "3 months" before it was released, Bane was already an iconic character..He had his moments thanks to the marketing, thanks to the spoofs about his voice..But people knew, talked..People started dressing like him in contests, conventions..that's a good thing..But for Zod, we had a glimpse in the trailer and one still..I'm not asking for more, but showing how different WB approached the villain, and I don't think not knowing who he is, is a great a thing..

It is strange to me that Zod has had no official reveal. I really do wonder why they've gone down that route, I still think there may be some reveal soon but I wouldn't be shocked if we didn't get one. Maybe much like Batman Begins where the focus was on Bruce/Batman they want the focus to be on Clark/Superman.
