The teaser was in theaters for months and had mixed responses from the people I knew, then the 2nd trailer hit theaters in December and has been showing in theaters ever since and judging by the responses daily for Man of Steel on twitter it's having a very positive reaction.
We will then get an action trailer in the next month and that will just be right for the GA as there are a lot of big blockbusters during that period and it should get enough exposure for the final run to the premiere.

I think they've marketed it perfectly so far, the anticipation for this movie is huge.

I really think we will have a new trailer no later than mid April. I'm hoping we get something this week though. With MOS coming out I just can't get up for iron man, star trek, etc. I hope the marketing really amps up this week!

Waiting for IM3 and Trek to pass is stupid. Theyre weeks and weeks away. The PROPER strategy would be to blanket the market throughout the next two weeks, reminding everyone of supes and building hype. Then relax for a few weeks while those two hit, before going hard again.

However...the marketing cannot stop this laid back. The film wont open to 100 million if they keep up with this B movie level style. They need to treat it like a megahit blockbuster, not a Denzel Washingotn movie or whatever

I agree. There are still many people in the GA who don't even know this movie exists.

If memory serves me right the Teaser was on November 17th, first debuting with Smallville and then online right away and then the 1st Theatrical Trailer went online on May 2nd and then was in theaters with MI3 on the 5th.

Some digging proves you correct.

Oh but you forget, MOS hasn't delivered mountains of stills, clips, trailers, posters, art, etc. The film will fail, surely. It has been foretold.

1) RETURNS marketing sucked.
2) RETURNS opened 3 weeks after MOS will. So measuring by 'distance from release date', not calendar date.

RETURNS teaser was mid november with Potter. Final trailer was week 1 of May. First TV spot with smallville in early May.

For those counting, RETURNS trailer premiered 10 weeks prior to release.
MOS is currently 12 weeks away. Only 2 weeks.

RETURNS benefited from a weak JUNE and the NBA playoffs. MOS doesnt have that advantage.

RETURNS didn't have a Theatrical Trailer until 10 weeks prior to release.MOS had it's first Theatrical Trailer 6 months before release.Big difference.At this point more people know about MOS then returns at this same time.Everybody that seen the dark knight rises know this movie coming.

Man, it's weird when you compare the flow of news and media for SR compared to MOS by just digging through the archives on the Superman Homepage. It was like a barrage of news everyday!

Surprised to see SR made an appearance at WonderCon with Singer and Routh there but I think I remember Justin from BlueTights was there and interviewed Routh? So far MOS hasn't been announced to be there despite WB Pictures having a panel.

I guess ShoWest became CinemaCon then? Interesting because for ShoWest in April '06 they debuted a new trailer with Routh there. Again could bode well for CinemaCon in a few weeks. t:
