the first trailer came out 4 months before it released and people are saying this is gonna flop because a 3rd trailer hasnt been released yet.

were only in april if i rember there was a certain film that got its first trailer 4 months before it came out and it was called avatar!! we all know what happend with that film.
Avatar had a big Preview at Comic Con that year .
They were working hard at generating buzz.

Man of Steel will flop. There is no buzz surrounding this film. None. Once this movie fails, WB will go back to crapping out another Batman film. Since that's the ONLY superhero they are competent at marketing.

Posters are asking for WB to give MOS the same level of Hugh marketing as B89, but it cannot be done, too many different circumstances.

TASM and Prometheus have shown what happens when you aggressively market your film - you get spoiled, even if you have a good opening weekend. Can anybody remember any memorable scene in TASM that wasn't already spoiled by the multiple trailers?.....Hands up if you thought of the Stan Lee cameo...

Look at The Avengers as well? How many people would say the best 3 scenes in the film are 'He's adopted', Hulk punches Thor and Hulk vs Loki? And why are they the BEST scenes? Could it be because they are the only scenes NOT already spoiled? Imagine seeing Hulk saving IM for the first time in the theatre, NOT in the final trailer. Would you have said THAT was the best scene in the film?

I'm not saying WB are perfect, or their marketing is perfect - far from it. It's just that the more you want to see NOW, the less you'll appreciate when the film is released.

NO ONE has asked for that. I have not seen a single post asking for WB to give MOS the same level of marketing as B89.

Dang WB is pushing the Great Gatsby hard! Another tv spot.

i cart remember anything till the trailer hit 4 months before. seriously are peoe really thinking this is gonna flop because we havent had a 3rd trailer yet or posters? were 2 months away! even if they left it a month before as long as the next trailer is good and posters are shown everywhere people will go and see it.

No. It needs more than trailers and posters.

i know and everyone else knows that in the next 2 weeks it'll start. everyone will forget about the waiting and just be talking about how the next trailer looks amazing. i hope lol.

Calling it now. This film will bomb due to a lack of marketing.

I'm calling Man Of Steel dead on arrival. WB doesn't care. So why should the audience?

If WB doesn't pick up with the marketing, I don't see this movie making much at the box office.

Not enough people know about this movie. It will flop.

WB doesn't know how to market anything that doesn't have a cape, a cowl, and a Bat symbol.

WB ONLY knows how to market Batman movies.

MOS needs buzz... Needs a kicking-ass trailer, needs to be in every magazine, needs to be in the mind and mouth of everyone, it needs the overall feeling that "Superman is coming back!!!".

This is f***ing SUPERMAN! Its marketing strategy must be BIGGER than Batman's

Ok, let me rephrase.

People want a level of marketing to match some of the current upcoming films - that I DO know is true.

What posters here need to recognise is that every film has its own sets of circumstances for a particular form of marketing. You have films with big budgets, big casts and low general awarence being pushed like mad (Great Gatsby), films with big star recognition ONLY (Oblivion, After Earth). Then you have aggressive marketing for films like GI Joe - why? Because the studios know that these films make most/all their money with a few weeks - very short shelf life.

MOS does not seem to fit these categories. You could either interpret the marketing as complete confidence in the product (tracking is good with the GA, and the film will have a LONG shelf life) or you could not. It's you're choice.

like with every movie these days they will show nearly everything once the tv spots start coming out then everyone will be saying there showing too much!
