Ooh I actually like that better! They learn it when they come to earth! And start speaking that once they're here so humans can understand their demands! That works great!

Issue One:
In the issue, the planet Krypton is portrayed as a cold and emotionally sterile planet, an idea Byrne borrowed from the 1978 film Superman. Kal-El was not an infant sent from Krypton to Earth, rather, his fetus was placed in a "birthing matrix" equipped with a rocket engine and Jor-El's experimental warp drive, with Kal-El gestating during the trip to Earth. Once the rocket landed, Kal-El was fully "born" on Earth. This also made him "born" an American, a plot point that would be used in Armageddon 2001, a DC Comics storyline which explored possible futures, one of which featured Superman becoming President of the United States.[18]

Yep, Byrne's Superman is some of the best Superman stuff of ALL time, and was my personal favorite origin for years, second only to Birthright.

Ah, yes. Armageddon 2001. A story that started out so promising... and almost made Captain Atom an interesting character by turning him into a really cool villain.

Except that it didn't because they changed the story at the last minute and made Monarch turn out to be lameass Hawk, forever ruining what initially seemed to be a great villain, and on top of that, they made Captain Atom the big hero of the story instead, ensuring that he was and always will be a boring character.

and if Lex is in this at all, I'm almost 100% certain he won't turn out to be an alien.

That wasn't even the case in Flyby's 2nd draft. In that version, Lex was a human who just received a bunch of knowledge about Krypton from a dying Kryptonian (looking for Kal-El) who'd crashed here before Superman made his debut.

and is Flyby the one where Cavill was set to play Superman but the director was too scared of flying and so the project got scrapped?

WB finally release another official image on the cover of a magazine no less and it's that same one that's been floating around for months and was actually just a fan made manip at first?

I'm guess I should be commending them for finally getting a more kick arse image out there for official consumption.

The interview is good though, the minute we see kryptonite we'll know they are out of ideas imo.

It was never a fan manip. It was an official image the fan had managed to find somehow and make some changes.

Not in the version I read. I feel like I'd remember that, lol.

That sounds totally Tim Burton-y, so I wouldn't be surprised if it were Superman Lives.

Well, in Flyby, Superman does kind of die and come back to life, but it happens much in the way it did in the All-Star Superman comic (a talk with Jor-El "in death"). Which is weird, since that story hadn't been written yet. Nothing to do with Lois birthing his spirit or anything like that though, lol.
