Oh, the sarcasm smiley made me think that you feel about Thor 2 like I do.

Nah, I am excited. Very, very excited.

But Superman looks like something else, not unlike Nolan's Batman. A level of care and depth that you just won't find with other superhero films imo. Classic, true filmmaking.

Doomsday has come to fulfill General Zod's DESTINY!

I KNEW you'd say that!

It is the one from Marvel I am looking forward too the most, though IM3 looks like it could be great. I mean, there is only one Superman, but I am very, very excited about Thor 2. Next year is Cap. :D

I'm with you on Thor the Dark World. Iron Man is Iron Man. Whatever. The Thor franchise is the most interesting in the MCU. That cast has a lot to do with it but there's just a lot of stuff they can do with Thor they can't do with the others that will show off scope and epicness. I want Man of Steel and the Dark World to dominate comic book movies this year....in terms of conversation.

Truthfully, the only MCU movie I'm looking forward to is Cap2, only because of the storyline and Redford.

I expect to like Superman more than BB and less than TDK, which bodes VERY well for the film itself, as well as the sequels.

I'm also loving Lois' place in this story. Basically, she's out there, chasing leads and working on a story. She's a damn reporter. I know it's a simple thing but I just kind of love this.

Bosworth's Lois was also doing this in Returns but that was more on the latter half of the film than the entire film.

Like I said before it's quite beautiful and having this theme of eugenics at the forefront will be quite the conversation starter for some time to come I would hope.

I'm always a fan of comic book movies that go beyond the usual themes that are presented in your regular monthlies. For the Dark Knight trilogy there were a litany of socio political themes to ponder on, I'm glad to see MoS (seemingly) follow that tradition by having the character (in it's origins) tackle a wide variety of themes and issues. It's not just a guy who gets powers and saves the day, hopefully it's done naturally and not portentiously.

This opens up shades of grey for every character. Like Darth said...Faora is likely a "victim" of this bioengineering, she is probably born to kill or serve Zod, I'm wondering if she'll be the moral canvas of the story. Maybe the film uses her as an example of Kal-El managing to turn her and enlighten her to take her own path, perhaps she chooses Clarks way of thought, his free will over Zod's overly fascistic, mechanical devotion to his homeplanet and generic makeup. (his nature) and it signifies Clarks true power (and real difference from Zod who is likely stronger than him) to inspire those around him (especially humans) to change their nature and strive to be a better race on their own. (which was very similar to the point of Nolan's Batman)

See? it's already opening up a dialog. :oldrazz: (or rather mindless rumblings from me)

Exactly.

:highfive:

It is funny, because I feel like this year, all four superhero films are trying to almost nail it after varying degrees of missing the mark the last time around. IM2 and Wolverine are kind of obvious too me, and even I, who likes SR very much, can understand that many believe that is also the case with Kal-El. I adore Thor, and it is one of my favorite superhero films, but it had clear flaws that were made up for by its high points. This time they might just fix those flaws and knock it right out of the park, fully and completely.

There is a high chance of a wonderful year for Superhero films with all 4 being at least very good. And just maybe, perhaps Superman will lead the way with a spectacular film.

+1. Absolutely right.

Just seen the new magazine pics. Zod looks scary and intimidating. And that Super suit is definitely the best one of the lot. Two thumbs way up.

I hate to reply to THIS part of your excellent post, but Nolan's point by TDKR's end wasn't that at all.

Oh yeah? I'm pretty sure what i took from the end was that a normal citizen could take matters in his own hands, wasn't the point of Bale's Batman to inspire people to do good, rather than just save people himself, isn't that what he did with Blake?

Hence the potential similarity to Cavill's Clark Kent, I would assume at the end of the film he get's over his identity crisis and understands that he has hope for the human race to realise their potential.

(Hi Gianakin, haven't spoken to you in a while. :word:)

Not Kal-El, I was thinking that maybe Jor-El was to be executed for his crime and Zod was the one to do the job. But yes, it looks like he'll be imprisoned by then.

Oh maybe, that would be interesting.

Which I love. I love the idea that Zod would consider Clark joining him. I had been hoping for this.

Me too, I think its a great dynamic

I'm so really interested in what Goyer said about this movie possibly tying into a shared universe. I love the engineering babies concept! Come on June 13th! Can't wait for that midnight show! I've all ready secured the 14th off of work so that I can sleep in and go see it again lol

This is true, i was very disappointed with Thor 1 (heck I pretty much hated all phase one films except Iron man 1) It really seems they are picking up the pace with Phase two which already sounds awesome.

But Marvel is rolling in the money with their properties, I feel that MoS is such an important film, if it fails...then I think we can say goodbye to superman and other non-Batman comic properties from DC for a good while, so my focus is primarily on that.

Hi, it really has been some time. Good to see you.

Well, what I took from TDKR was that people will always need a savior. The idea of the mask, instead of falling, goes on and on by way of Blake and whatever identity he'll choose from now on. Nolan blatantly advocates masks instead of have people take matters in their own hands. He has cops fight alongside him and he tries to create an exodus for citizens, instead of inspiring them to say "enough is enough with those freaks" and rise against Bane.

Snyderman, on the other hand, can help people achieve greatness. Probably not to rise up against Doomsday or Darkseid (a whole different league of rogues), but he can inspire them to change their everyday selves, habits, behaviour, morals, etc.

Same here, but I don't have confidence in Marvel yet. When I see a Thor 2 trailer, maybe then I'll change my mind. They've certainly taken a step in the right direction with The Dark World stuff.
