All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - Part 4

Your delirious if you truly think people will crack on Superman for losing the underwear that much.

I've already seen people on non-comics forums busting on the picture, but I think that's absurd. Maybe there's just that much anti-Superman sentiment out there, which is a shame.

How hard is it to wrap your head around the concept that it's not underwear? It's not being worn under anything at all negating the first part of the term itself. He wears trunks.

He should have the trunks. It doesn't look stupid, people just say that to get hardcore traditionalists pissed off. His look has worked for over 70 with very few changes. It's stupid to change it now and I've got my fingers crossed that he has them in the film but if not I'm sure his outfit won't look stupid

People call it stuff like underwear or panties or speedos because they think the trunks are stupid...but a unitard that makes it look like he's wearing pajamas or he's a dancer is better somehow.

No way will the budget be that high. Probably more like $170-180 million.

Wasn't the budget for Green Lantern like 200 million and that didn't even look that great. Superman will be over 200 million for sure. It's got some big names and it doesn't seem like WB is holding anything back. My guess is 220 million not including P&A.

But a unitard with underwear is better. :whatever: And this is coming from a guy who originally wanted the underwear.

Except that's not what it is:

That stuff doesnt work in live action, though. The shirt and pants cant be different parts that somehow attach together with the belt and trunks. Unless there's a ziper connecting both things. It might work in the comics but it sure doesnt with live action. The shirt would never be in place. Like i said, im certain that there is a pattern around the trunks area that is going to break up the blue, together with the gold belt. Also, the dark color and texture dont attract too much attention.

They could make a version of the costume where Cavill could remove the shirt and keep the pants on if needed. They'll have multiple costumes like they always have for different scenes.

The suit to me, just doesn't need trunks anymore if you can break up that blue and Im pretty sure they did that. The Trunks had go sometime...

don't judge on an effects budget on green lantern. that was just terrible work. dark of the moon had a 195 budget and looked sooo much better

Picked up Superman For All Seasons yesterday. Looking forward to reading it.

Yes but Michael Bay is known for being really good with a budget. He uses a lot of tie ins and shoots very fast. I think Snyder is good with his budget too but I'm not sure.

well sucker punch had effects that were more effective than green lantern, and sucker punch had less than half the budget green lantern did. Green Lantern had terrible effects cause it was terrible work. For whatever reason, it didn't work. poor/ugly designs.

Subtle segue there.

I just picked up the DC comics app for Android.......i have a lot to catch up on. Im just happy we didnt have to wait 20 years before we got another Superman movie. I know this film is going to be visually amazing. Snyder has done amazing things considering his past budgets.

speaking of for all seasons i would pick it up but i hate how superman looks in it

looks like a marshmallow man wtf is up with that?

How I have missed you dude.
Always could make me laugh.
Lol

Thanks man  I stayed away for a bit after going through depression. I just hit my mid 20's got paid to travel having a part in a play, only to have the production stop... No more paychecks, and then to top it off my wife got off birth control for a couple weeks and got pregnant, then lost the baby to a miscarriage. Usually they say it affects women more but for some reason I think it affected me more than my wife. Life moves on though, and I'm trying to not let it keep me down and go back to being a grumpy jerk. I'm definitely attempting to mature after these experiences for sure. Learning a lot these days in my older mid 20's heading towards 30 age.
